PSG have yet to be asked questions

494

Friday night is the new Saturday afternoon, apparently. Celtic, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht all play tomorrow evening. Only Bayern Munich from our Champions League group have a weekend game; on Saturday, so there will be little advantage gained from the earlier domestic kick-off.

PSG are away to Metz, near the German border. Whereas PSG are top of Ligue 1, having won all their games, Metz are anchored at the bottom, the only team yet to take a point. This game is a perfect opportunity for PSG to rest players who have been busy on international duty, before the trip to Glasgow. Celtic’s scouts will be able to observe the shape of their forthcoming opponents, but the intensity of the game will not come close to what we see at Celtic Park.

Immediately before the international break, PSG beat Saint Etienne 3-0 in Paris. It is one measure of a good team to win comfortably even when not playing well. PSG achieved this against Le Verts, but there was encouragement for Brendan Rodgers in this game. This was also the only league game PSG have played against a team who have not lost at least half of their matches so far.

Without having to go through the trauma of Champions League qualifiers, the notion persists that PSG have yet to be asked questions this season. They may be able to revel in the joys of having signed two exciting new strikers, but great teams are made of durable cohesion, not striking bling.

  1. MOONBEAMS,

Just a question. How many tickets would you want Celtic to sell to the poorer fans?.

What would be the cut off point, money wise.

How would you apply for your ticket?.

    Well,3 questions actually.

  2. I would like to see Broonie , KT , Griff and JF all sit out tomorrows game. Eddie Odsonne to start , Calvin and also Tony Ralston. Tricky game on their pitch but hopefully we will have an extra edge with the PSG game in mind.

It’s not about selling cheap tickets to poorer fans.

It’s about making our club affordable to all with appropriate affordable pricing while the club is raking in mega millions from CL qualification.

£38 an adult and £30 a child is taking the piss out of Celtic season ticket holders just to take in an extra £600k over last seasons prices.

A 3 match package should be no more than £90.

I don’t think Celtic do it but I may be wrong but there should be a ticket pricing policy for the unemployed and low waged who can’t afford season books but could at reduced pricing go to the odd game with their kid/s and that includes CL games.

  5. Accomodate the poorest, everyone better off than them can afford it too, ergo…

    Open to all.

It’s what Brother Walfrid would’ve done.

    Why £90?

I know plenty of people who could never afford that. Seems….arbitrary?

I don’t think anyone would arguing against making football more inclusive, but Bro. Walfrid didn’t have a 60k seater stadium to pay for or players on £thousands / week, did he?

  9. Levein, who moved back into management from his director of football role just before the transfer window shut, said: “I don’t want to go into too much detail but if I was Jamie I’d be a little bit disappointed that a lot of the promises that were made to him weren’t kept. And not from our club.”

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I don’t really know what counts as tapping up, but how can you make promises to a player who is under contact to another club?

  10. Scullybhoy

They tapped him up 100%, how else as you say can they make him any kinda promise, they shouldn’t have even talked to him, but they are the huns and the rules for them are no the same as they are for the rest of scottish football.

  11. A rather fortuitous coming together of sporting events in October for Minnesota based Celtic fans. The Vikings play in London on Sunday 29th, followed by the visit of Bayern Munich to Paradise on Tuesday 31st. If ever there was a reason to make the long trip home surely this is it.

I came up short last year trying to get CL tickets from Celtic and was helped out by a couple of CQN’ers who went above and beyond to ensure my son and I got to see the ‘Gladbach game.

If any season ticket holders are not able to use their tickets for the BM game I would be enormously grateful for the opportunity to buy them from you.

I’m sure Paul67 can provide my email if I miss a response

  12. There is no universal price that fits all, however We missed a trick with the pricing on concession tickets.

Quite interesting today listening to Arsenal Wenger saying Arsenal had to sell a player in the transfer window.

  13. Brendan is being clever with his comments about Paddy, just releasing some of the pressure on him. Expectations are very high.

  14. Is it just me that would go with our strongest team possible tomorrow night, get the game won, then rest legs?

I couldn’t care less about PSG until we take care of Hamilton, no slip ups please, don’t want to drop points two games in a row, I respect every opponent and a second string side on a teamsheet is the biggest boost Hamilton’s dressing room can get.

If I’m doing Hamilton’s team talk it’s we can be heroes by beating the invincibles and they think they can win with their reserves.

  15. blantyretim.

I’m coming into Glasgow tomorrow,I want to buy another suit and Slater’s spring to mind, if your about we could have a wee drink or 2 in the usual haunt, let me know if your up for it. I’ll be in Slater’s for a couple hrs, if I get a suit I’ll have to wait on getting buttons sown on for my braces.

Big Table already booked in BV for Tuesday

  17. It’s not an arbitrary figure. I’m basing £90 on the prices around were the club priced previous to this year.

Hence why I included sections being offered to the unemployed and low waged at prices reduced again on this. At least a two to five thousand seats.

I think most of us can pay £30 a ticket for CL. It’s the complete pricing out of the unwelcome low waged and unemployed that the club should be giving a helping hand with.

  18. blantyretim.

I forgot the game was on, I’ll come in a wee bit earlier and then go the BV for a couple or 3 then head on home around 6.00pm to watch the game on telly.

Surely you cant be maligning honourable and honest professionals like lawyers (only zombies do that, because they dont bother with rules and such), so I can only conclude that it must be Canadians with whom you have an issue.

Shocking to read such on CQN. shocked and appalled I am.

If I dont get a full and unqualified retraction, on behalf of all Canadians, you will be getting a nasty letter from my …. eerr… me.

    ————————————————————————————————

Sure, but the point is – not everyone can afford £30 for a ticket or £90 for a package – that’s just what you assume to be a “fair” price based on previous experience i.e. there will always be people that are priced out of this kind of entertainment. £30 a ticket may seem fair to you – but certainly won’t seem fair to everyone. People make up their mind whether or not £30 is value for money.

Whether the club should offer concessions to the unemployed or low-waged is a another question. I’m not sure whether they do so or not.

  23. nothing is free,

but what the plc could do , with our excess cash is subsidize those less fortunate.

    why not ?

have a registration screen, let those on low wages and the disadvantage join the scheme.

celtic set aside 200 seats per match (every match) , 0.3% of stadium capacity, offer these at a very low nominal price, say £10 an adult, £5 a kid, and go through the list till its sold.

do it for all matches, why not.

why begrudge less well off celtic supporters a chance to see the team.

    social responsibilty.

  24. oh and buy the way, a plan to have a best in class disabled section should be on the table as well.

    why not.
