    An incredibly stupid move to arrange a game against PSG at this stage. Pre season should be in Austria or Switzerland against lower opposition. Results like this reverberate around Europe and make is look weak af.

     

    Pre season games are seen and remembered more than people imagine despite the pish ou hear about them being meaningless. The are not meaningless, they are a reflection of us as a club. We went to the USA a few years ago played Man U and lost 4 goals and that was bad enough. This is worse.

    As I expected – 0-4. Just too many good players playing at a high tempo. Amazing the number of 10-15 yard forward passes cut us apart. Watching Lenny – play through teams rather than around them.

     

    Still we won’t meet many teams as good as that during the season.

    I thought Boli did alright in the second half when he came on.

     

    Our best player easily was wee Frimpong.

     

    Ncham great in first half.

     

    The others looked rusty and in need of more sharpening up.

     

    French Eddy was very quiet apart from a 5 minute spell in the second half when he appeared to click into gear…and wee james forrest looked very decent when he came on….Eloynoussie was lively but his decision making frustrates me.

    I didn`t see the game but I can accept your view of CM`s performance. I was responding to the `not for the first time ` part of Jerome67`s post.McGregor is consistently a top performer. J 67`s point, I felt, implied that Calmac is often uninvolved in games.

     

    Anyway, it is a cheerio from me.

    hopefully our defensive coaching staff , if we have such a thing , will watch a re run and see our inept defensive performance, its bad enough losing 4 goals to any opposition but it looks like we have learn absolutely nothing in keeping our shape at the back and midfield when especially when we are playing a top drawer team , the gap between defensive and midfield lines is shambolic , this needs major surgery to correct.

    We come back from France tomorow far more match fit than when we left last week….It is all good if you ask me infact any crazy false hope of how good we are by beating or drawing with a top top level team is a distraction we could do without…

     

    We need hard work and reality.We need to work on our flaws and get ready for the biggest season of all .

     

    We have a manager that knows this and I believe he knows EXACTLY what he is doing.

     

    Look out for a behind closed doors game against lower opposition to get some goal scoring sharpened up.

    Frimpong is not a full back. Never will be. 4th goal showed him up yet again.

    JOHNMON – I asked on here last season how Frimpong has ended up as a RB. What happened in his young career that he ended up being put there? As a kid surely his potential as a winger was the way to develop him. Small, tricky and fast. He’s got bucketloads of talent. But he’s no defender.

    Seem to be alone (+1) in that we enjoyed that as a pre-season sharpening-up game. PSG are, undoubtedly, crammed with world-class players, even on the bench. I thought for periods we played well against them – some good possession and movement.

    we are pathetic at this level i dont want us to qualify for the corrupt league it will only embarass us if we cannot get the players why go looking to get in to it desmond and lawell will not spend so why should we give these bastards any more money and one other thing they playing with ten

    What did we learn? (that we didn’t already know)

     

     

    Result, performance and shortcomings all too predictable. Actually, I think every one was suggested on these very pages.

    Some very harsh comments on the blog tonight, did you expect anything different? I thought we played well in spells but were always going to be up against it playing such a class team,that had scored 16 goals in their last two games.

    don’t want to read too much into pre season games but we were made to look pedestrian at times. The team is stale and needs a boost with a couple of signings to give a a lift! This is probably the biggest season in many of our lifetimes and I’m not feeling the energy/urgency – we need PL and board to get the spark needed.

    This is reality…get real. We know our level…or maybe its just me.

     

     

    that is correct, all the more reason for our defenders/midfielders to defend as a unit and be given a tough shift , but we failed in all levels defensively , all over the place defending , it bugs me to say it but across the road thems are more organised at the back than us with poorer defenders.

    I was under the impression that PSG approached us for the game, taking advantage of the bi lateral non quarantine arrangement. If it was solely a Celtic Park idea then would agree, what was the point.
