Pursuit of Celtic in January was a sham

484

24 hours on and not a whisper from the Scottish Government, their Senior Clinical Advisor or their principle academic media backer on dropping all of the sanctions imposed when Celtic were the target, when the issue at stake is not the Scottish Premiership but Euro 2020 progress.

The whole of Europe knows Billy Gilmour spent time in enclosed spaces with much if not all of the Scotland squad, any other explanation is not even remotely possible, he was photographed with Steve Clarke’s head touching his, Clarke’s hands clasped on his jaw.  I heard what happened when results arrived for Celtic’s Dubai Test and Trace.  Where is the vigour to pursue athletes who do not represent Celtic, Ms Sturgeon?  Either this is a sham or the Government’s pursuit of Celtic in January was.

“of course removing the expense of Catholic schools would free up a ‘kitty’.”

    Of course.

Funny how the stars seem to be aligning tonight of all nights.

  2. I have to say that from a football point of view, I enjoyed that game. Scotland with its limited ability did its best, whereas Croatia played like the quality team it is . How they managed to lose to England amazes me. I think I’ll have a wee bet on Croatia now.

  3. VALE BHOY @ 9:44 PM,

So, what did you think of HIM? He was against The World Cup Finalists, the world’s fourth seed International team and a Czech team that have had an outstanding tournament!?

Would he struggle with St Johnstone away… Not Celtic Class… Not worth 3 million of our precious pounds.!?

I’d have had him in my Celtic midfield alongside Calmac for the ten in a row every time.

Well done Scotland, a great campaign, if the Celtic manager and squad had shown a quarter of their guts we’d be celebrating TIAR!!

    HAIL HAIL

Tell me you said that about Catholic schools in jest

Ye couldn’t believe what i was reading…why is this person aloud to spout such poison.

O’Donnell never hid. He’ll always suffer from not being “the future of Scottish football” Patterson

  6. CalMac got us back into the game at a time when Croatia were giving us a football lesson, but we went out in the second half doing the same thing, unable to read the game, or indeed the key plays. I’m guessing we started out the weakest team in the group, in through the back door and all, problem is we ended up the same way.

  7. Why don’t the SFA send a delegate to Croatia to study their footballing ethos from grassroots to professional leagues and international games? For a country of their size they punch well above their weight.

We on the other hand, by and large, are shit in comparison.

Are we just to big to learn from others?

  8. Ach well glorious defeat again. Afraid I put this solely down to the manager. Croatia had most of the control of the midfield in the first half. The few times that Scotland did press Croatia in the first half their defence looked suspect. I was expecting the Scotland manager to make changes at half time in either formation or personnel to close Croatia down in the midfield and put their suspect defence under pressure. Inexplicably Clarke did not do this. A very good opportunity to progress to the next round squandered in my humble opinion.

  9. 31003,

I can’t see the SFA sending a delegate to a Catholic country!

  10. England will be laughing out loud in ridicule at their lily livered quisling region of Scotland, again, tonight. The Czech Republic and Republic of Croatia, know the score alright.

Well done Scotland, a great campaign,

It wasn’t. In through the back door then beaten at home by two average international teams. As Souness said, we looked like a team from another era

  12. 31003

Did we not do that with the Dutch about 25years ago.

You need the right people in place to implement the coaching.

Not jobs for the boys .

    Like the sfa

Kevin Gallacher ; “Billy Gilmour , a young star in the twilight of his career” . I suppose he got a fee for that as well tonight .

Also the commentator (whoever he was ),”Nathan Patterson , many more years ahead of him in a Scotland shirt” I detect a pattern here .

    I agree

But the SFA is what we’re stuck with

Get the refs to clamp down on agriculture football. There’s the start.

  16. Russia finish bottom, and their Federation immediately announce that their whole structure will be reviewed and revamped from top to bottom, including the youth league set up.

Scotland? Dream on. Nothing will be done, and we will limp on, eventually ending up seeded with the Latvias and Estonias. The Croats to a man were more skillful, faster, quicker, harder, more athletic, and more muscular. They played as a team. We are kidding ourselves on, and the situation is becoming more pathetic each year.

  17. I’m sure KG has lived down south for the last 30 years or so, twangs and changes in accent happen, if he talks bollocks say it don’t slag the guy because his accent has changed. I know, I lived abroad for many years, when I came home my mates would slag the absolute shite out of me for my changes in accent. I did love when he said “we are all macs” sounded like we are all micks which was met with resounding silence. Well done Croatia, deserved win, Scotland have a bit of hope qualifying for the world cup. HH

  19. glendalystonsils on

Don’t worry , there’s a search going on in the dingy corners of SFA headquarters right now for the blueprint Henry McLeish produced way back when . It’s maybe propping up that shoogly leg on David Maxwell’s desk .

  21. Those four dolphins that were rescued in the northern English region of Scotland earlier this evening were a bad omen alright. They were all at sea before our midfield knew the score.

  22. CELTIC40ME @ 10:29 PM,

You still having issues reading and comprehension of folks posts!?

    ALSO

Don’t believe what EBT Greame Souness says, he’s not as smart as he thinks he is.

The game was poor against the Czechs I grant you – but we don’t have any forwards. If we produce a top forward or two it’s different

Loved the campaign – if you think the Celtic Academy that was one of Peter Lawwell’s top priorities when he came to Celtic 18 years ago has taken us to a different era, you are very much mistaken.

The only Scots of quality with a handful of exceptions are those who escaped, like Andy Robinson.

    Hail Hail

Croatia, being an independent country can decide how much of their GDP they can allocate to sport. Scotland, on the other hand, being England’s subservient dog, has no say in such independent matters.

    ####

    Wales, on the other hand………

  24. the long wait is over on

It really is time for the Scottish government to complete disband the Sfa and start again.

No disrespect to the players themselves but in our first tournament in 22/23 years – a disgrace in itself – we lose two games by two clear goals, score one goal in three games , fail to win a game and fail to qualify for the next round even when the odds of doing so are better than ever.

I see McLeish is to conduct another review –

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57299624

10 years after his first one.

Are we going to do something similar every decade but change nothing?

Scottish international football is a shocking failure and our clubs’ performances in Europe scarcely better.

  25. Tell you what that Dykes is a player, superb tonight, what a shift.

    Great tournament….

Oh no wait he never done feck all in any of the 3 games, utter pish.

Unless he is playing in Scotland where Referees let him knock the living day lights out of a Celtic centre back he is useless.

O’Donnell wow let’s leave it there. I have seen better players doon the Coup in the Garngad.

Armstrong should have been hooked after his 19th slip on the 10 minute mark.

Stevie Clarke – We dodged a bullet.

1 goal scored in 3 games and he speaks about stopping conceding goals. Mmmmmm ok Stevie bhoy.

My full concentration is over to Big Ange

    D :)

  26. Someone on here actually said in the last day or so if we had hired Sieve Clarke instead of Lenny we would have won TIAR. WTF.

  27. Start off with comparing the refereeing of games in this tournament to refereeing games in Scotland. That’s your starter for 10

Then ask how many of our refs are reffing in this tournament

we dont have a plan at all 3sy
