Pursuit of Celtic in January was a sham

484

24 hours on and not a whisper from the Scottish Government, their Senior Clinical Advisor or their principle academic media backer on dropping all of the sanctions imposed when Celtic were the target, when the issue at stake is not the Scottish Premiership but Euro 2020 progress.

The whole of Europe knows Billy Gilmour spent time in enclosed spaces with much if not all of the Scotland squad, any other explanation is not even remotely possible, he was photographed with Steve Clarke’s head touching his, Clarke’s hands clasped on his jaw.  I heard what happened when results arrived for Celtic’s Dubai Test and Trace.  Where is the vigour to pursue athletes who do not represent Celtic, Ms Sturgeon?  Either this is a sham or the Government’s pursuit of Celtic in January was.

If you don’t hit that board in the pocket they ignore you. To date I only know of my brother and his three pals who have renewed.

  2. Are there no MPs or MSPs to argue Paul’s case. If not the parliaments don’t represent Scotland. So as other posters have said we need to see if there is anyone at Celtic to represent Celtic. I disagree vehemently with the idea that we get things done better behind the scenes with quiet words in ears. Engage with and Inform the support.

  4. Anyone know how the ST sales are going compared to previous year?

I assume if 1000s do not renew, those on the waiting list are contacted first and then, if any remain, a public sale?

If you are not renewing, are you expecting to have the chance to get a ST at a later date or are you resigned to the fact that you may not have a ST for years to come?

I hope the GB are making a lovely banner to welcome our new boss. The guy has been praising the support in any interview I have seen, I hope he is not disappointed. HH

Like every team we have hemoraged cash during Covid, but Celtic rely more than most on gate receipts and match day sales.

Our new manager needs to build a team, he needs our support in a new challenging environment.

The big shareholder groups in Celtic plc (LON:CCP) have power over the company. Large companies usually have institutions as shareholders, and we usually see insiders owning shares in smaller companies. Warren Buffett said that he likes “a business with enduring competitive advantages that is run by able and owner-oriented people.” So it’s nice to see some insider ownership, because it may suggest that management is owner-oriented.

With a market capitalization of UK£120m, Celtic is a small cap stock, so it might not be well known by many institutional investors. Our analysis of the ownership of the company, below, shows that institutional investors have bought into the company. Let’s delve deeper into each type of owner, to discover more about Celtic.

What Does The Institutional Ownership Tell Us About Celtic?

Institutional investors commonly compare their own returns to the returns of a commonly followed index. So they generally do consider buying larger companies that are included in the relevant benchmark index.

Celtic already has institutions on the share registry. Indeed, they own a respectable stake in the company. This can indicate that the company has a certain degree of credibility in the investment community. However, it is best to be wary of relying on the supposed validation that comes with institutional investors. They too, get it wrong sometimes. If multiple institutions change their view on a stock at the same time, you could see the share price drop fast. It’s therefore worth looking at Celtic’s earnings history below. Of course, the future is what really matters.

Celtic is not owned by hedge funds. Dermot Desmond is currently the largest shareholder, with 35% of shares outstanding. Meanwhile, the second and third largest shareholders, hold 19% and 10%, of the shares outstanding, respectively.

To make our study more interesting, we found that the top 2 shareholders have a majority ownership in the company, meaning that they are powerful enough to influence the decisions of the company.

While studying institutional ownership for a company can add value to your research, it is also a good practice to research analyst recommendations to get a deeper understand of a stock’s expected performance. As far I can tell there isn’t analyst coverage of the company, so it is probably flying under the radar.

    Insider Ownership Of Celtic

The definition of company insiders can be subjective and does vary between jurisdictions. Our data reflects individual insiders, capturing board members at the very least. Company management run the business, but the CEO will answer to the board, even if he or she is a member of it.

I generally consider insider ownership to be a good thing. However, on some occasions it makes it more difficult for other shareholders to hold the board accountable for decisions.

Our information suggests that insiders own more than half of Celtic plc. This gives them effective control of the company. So they have a UK£67m stake in this UK£120m business. Most would be pleased to see the board is investing alongside them. You may wish todiscover (for free) if they have been buying or selling.

    General Public Ownership

The general public holds a 19% stake in Celtic. This size of ownership, while considerable, may not be enough to change company policy if the decision is not in sync with other large shareholders.

    Next Steps:

It’s always worth thinking about the different groups who own shares in a company. But to understand Celtic better, we need to consider many other factors. For example, we’ve discovered 2 warning signs for Celtic (1 is concerning!) that you should be aware of before investing here.

I have yet to see a plan, an alternative, a way forward, including projected FOOTBALL results over the next few years written down which would convince Celtic Supporters to boycott. I’m not saying they shouldn’t. I just want to know what folk think might happen. Do we want to be a St Pauli or a wee Man Utd ? How much longer would the new regime get ? What would be their downfall ? Do they want businessmen in charge ? Do they want them to stop becoming businessmen ? Somebody let me know – just please thanks.

  22. Just put the football pre-amble on. Scott Brown of Aberdeen is as surreal as Jimmy McGrory of Arsenal.

  23. Let the Trust & the GB boycott as much as they want – they are at most 3% of our magnificent support. Like empty barrels, they make the most noise. There are plenty of “full barrels” that could/would replace them in a heartbeat.

If they want to run something, there is a list of whelk stalls to be found on Google – they might just about manage to make a small loss – after all they are a ‘shellfish’ bunch.

  24. Around 2 ½ year ago after the talcum powder sniffin moreon should have been red carded 3 times for assaulting Ryan Christie, Scott Brown and Anthony Ralston our club contacted the former Queens Park, Ross County, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Partick Thistle squad player to discuss why he was allowed to remain on the park.

The response was “eff off”. As for complaining to UEFA, nae chance as I have often said the tentacles of the craft stretch far and wide including Switzerland.
