Pursuit of Celtic in January was a sham

484

24 hours on and not a whisper from the Scottish Government, their Senior Clinical Advisor or their principle academic media backer on dropping all of the sanctions imposed when Celtic were the target, when the issue at stake is not the Scottish Premiership but Euro 2020 progress.

The whole of Europe knows Billy Gilmour spent time in enclosed spaces with much if not all of the Scotland squad, any other explanation is not even remotely possible, he was photographed with Steve Clarke’s head touching his, Clarke’s hands clasped on his jaw.  I heard what happened when results arrived for Celtic’s Dubai Test and Trace.  Where is the vigour to pursue athletes who do not represent Celtic, Ms Sturgeon?  Either this is a sham or the Government’s pursuit of Celtic in January was.

  1. Well, cal mac gets a bit of a break and back to Lennoxtown sooner.

No more notions for me that O’Donnell is good enough for Celtic. Honest player but a yard short.

Croatia are a talented side who do the basics well. It helps having a superstar in the team in modric. Great player. Maybe Scottish football will take note on the basics of defending and attacking crosses.

Quality up front is lacking. Strong enough in midfield. Too good at left back! Hard for Steve Clarke to do any better with the materials he has at his disposal.

Back to hoping England get gubbed and waiting for Ange to assemble a squad of players. Thank feck.

    I prefer Ireland anyway.

Nice wee snide dig by Hamilton.

    They can’t help themselves.

Celtic paid him to cover home games in the VST.

    This circus has to stoo.

  3. For what it’s worth

My forensic analysis of tonight’s game

    “We was pumped”

  4. For a manager to go in at half time with his team having 22% of the ball, and thinking right,we will stick with that,is ridiculous. No width,a big target man up front,to do exactly what?

I agree with Mc Coist on Modric.A dream of a player.

This tournament is my first proper look at McGinn

I was just saying the same. Though it’s hard to judge players at international level. A bit of a heid doon and run kind of guy. Still, would be good up here.

Am I missing something, didn’t James Forrest make a big difference in the first game? Lack of width tonight, even on the left. Two up front, far less effective than against England. At least our guys will be back earlier.

  6. Croatia, being an independent country can decide how much of their GDP they can allocate to sport. Scotland, on the other hand, being England’s subservient dog, has no say in such independent matters.

BSR – glad Forrest didn’t play – less chance of injury.

Shop Window Christie is more of a concern. He’s now pretty much worthless.

  8. Well done Croatia- deserved their win.

Much prefer we’d changed it earlier and been braver.

Worst that could’ve happened was we lost 3-1……

  9. Same old from Scotland but at least a lot of young people got to experience their team being in a major finals. Well done to the Crow Asians.

The last time Modric played in Croatia was 2008 🤣😂

Oh man, thought that loon only came out in the middle of the night.

    Time for bed.

  12. We should do what so called smaller teams do to us…..play our chances down to nothing and heap praise on our opponents. We talked the talk tonight but never walked the walk

  13. Zero points from 2 home games in a major championship against those two teams is very poor.

Scotland should stick with Steve Clarke but Celtic should be looking for more

    😅😅😅😅😅😅

Scotland needs billions from the UK every year to balance the books for essential things like the NHS, Education & Social Care……where would the money for football come from?…..of course removing the expense of Catholic schools would free up a ‘kitty’.

  15. don’t know whether to blame Armstrong , or Clarke for picking him. He was abysmal , in fact he has doing nothing in a Scotland jersey – I hate seeing him with the ball at his feet.

Croatia were are team very low in confidence coming into the game – we should had started with Fraser or forrest – speed and width to cross into dykes. Even headless chicken christie could have tackled and harried more than Armstrong.

Got what we deserved for lack of boldness

  16. The missing factor X – independence .

Credit to an absolute world-class mid-field performance from Luca Modric.

  17. ah well nae luck Scotland

    Congratulations Croatia

    ah well.:-)

That Modric goal nearly as good as Calmacs v mwell and better than Calmacs great effort tonight.a lot of game i just watched Modric.

    genius and experience.great player.

when you cannot consistently perform the very basics of the game – you’re on to plums – tho taking nothing away from the world cup finalists – superb

  19. I know most of our players tonight play in the English Premiership and Championship but most learned their trade up here, and for me there in lies the problem. Until the SFA and or SPFL instruct their referees not to tolerate agricultural football we will always be also rand. There is NO chance to develop the skills or creativity of our opponents until the giver it body here realises that 50’s and 60’s type football is no more. It’s all about skill and flair now….not thumping someone into row z

  20. Total void of quality strikers was always going to be the undoing.

Goals change matches, that team didn’t have goals in them

  21. This is not a dig

Robertson is a wing back (attacking) as opposed to a full back (defending)

2 crosses coming in from his wing that he never closed down led to goals

Stop the supply, stop the goals….

  22. Who was the plonker that claimed Stevie Clarke was the answer? Too bleary eyed to change a system tonight that obviously wasn’t working.

  23. fourstonecoppi on

Hardlines Scotland, i had hoped but alas!

right, now its anyone but engerlund!

  24. why do Scottish players get over excited when they receive the ball inside the 18yrs box! rips my knitting! The defense heart rate is up, they are diving in – stay composed and show come guile. We tense up and brain goes blank!

Poor coaching and unfortunately the level of thuggery permitted in our game has set us back behind the rest of Europe.

The SFA has ruined the SFA

  25. Stebhoy.

not the same energy and pack hunting/ closing down that worked vs England.

but England did not have a Modric.he was great to watch tonight imo.

    Thought o’donnell done well.
