After an arresting 9-2 defeat on matchday one at Bayern Munich, Dinamo Zagreb have been immaculate on the road, winning 0-2 at Salzburg and 1-4 at Sloven Bratislava. Their home games have been less rewarding: a credible 2-2 draw with Monaco, before losing 0-3 to Borussia Dortmund last time out (no shame in that one).
The Croatian champions are a point behind Celtic and would move onto the fabled 10 point qualification mark, if they win tonight. You will have read that key players are missing, that they have not won in five games, but like Celtic, they have planned to be ready tonight. This game has been at the top of thier agenda since losing to Dortmund last month, they know the rewards a win would lead to.
Our Champions League campaign, which has given us so much encouragement, comes into sharp focus tonight. Beat Zagreb, and we deservedly progress in the competition as a side who can win home and away. I would settle for less, but three points would be an enormous achievement for a developing Celtic side.

C’mon the Hoops!
Cmon la celtica
Celtic!
I like to view various Celtic fan podcasts on the day of the big game. They’re still wittering on about Hibs getting good scoring chances on Saturday.
Are we becoming an entitled, spoiled support? I mean my God, the opposition nearly scored a couple of goals against us. Is that against the rules? And when did it necessitate a 3 day post-mortem?
We have amassed 12 clean sheets in 15 league games, conceding only 4 goals. Is it something of a crisis if the opposition crosses the halfway line more than once?
I’ll be a nervous wreck as usual watching the Celtic. Great fun though. 😁🍻
I hope we stay in the game throughout tonight – I looked at the table last night, coupled with the fixtures.
Nearly every game has a direct impact on Celtic’s fortunes.
I love this new format; although only because our bhoys have given us a real shot at it.

A fine post. Or, in other words, I agree :-))
Youths 1nil down in Zagreb 32mins.
Constructive Criticism shoud be valued.
Anyway it beats talking about the huns.
As Celtic under 19’s go 2 down.
COYBIG later . There is no easy away games in the CL. We will need to play smart and work hard to get a result.
IBWT
Youths 2 down 35mins .
Great goal for Celtic. What a strike.
4 Degrees and a gentle breeze in Zagreb for the match.
Young team pull goal back 2 1 ..43mins

Some say ‘wittering’ others may say pointing out flaws which could well be taken advantage of by a better class of opposition, and Dinamo Zagreb are definetly in that better class.
Yes Tom in some ways we are becoming entitled, look at the attitude towards Brugge after we defeated Salzburg, imo Brugge(ranked above us)were there for the taking.we soon found out they were a highly organised and capable side as we sighed as the Salzburg form was not repeated.
Scoring against us is of course allowed,it is maybe over analysed as we know tonight is a massive step up from Hibs.
You show a comparitor with spl in mind Tom,we know in Champions league is so so different in every facet,so be weary of our opposition who have 7 points.
Anyway Tam serves you right for clickin and listening:-))you should be more reliant on your own knowledge gained from watching over many years.thats more than any meeja view.
Will take a draw tonight but it will be tough
HH
Agree An T. A draw would be great. Any team who can draw with Monaco are not rubbish. Except it was the other Red Bull mob we beat. The Leipzig not Salzburg.

Maybe of some interest.
Can I just say that yesterdays blog was enhanced by the word “opporchancity” and that made me happy.
Cheers BOONDOCK SAINT and in turn GGH.

Ha! Well corrected,👍
Our attitude after our tremendous one game run from Leipzig to Brugge was devoid of any respect for the tournament and the team we were playing.
We are playing well domestically but its a giant leap for Celtickind into the CL.
Are you over there?
HH
Still no sign of that damned elusive handsome hun in the hotel or 5 Irish bars. Under 19 still 1-2.
Now there’s a couple of things I did not know.Campbell Ogilvie is the guy we have to thank for the CL new format. He was the bold pioneer who told UEFA to change it to a league format back in the last century, and kept on at them till they eventually did, through various stages, which has brought us to present day.
The second thing is,what do the 8 stars on the EUEFA emblem stand for?.Well, they signify the 8 teams that got to the final 8 in the first revamp.Rangers sit proudly there.
Its amazing the amount of absolute pish you can be subjected to by reading an article in the Daily Record.
PS,They actually printed about the stars,
” Here’s a question that will stump many in any Pub Quiz”.
Not many, the population of the entire planet.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Youths lose 2 1
If we take our “opporchancities tonight, “Fandabydozy”, and if you think we wilny then, away and “Bile yer Heid”! por cierto
1-2. Hellfire and damnation. 😡
Good point, well made POR CIERTO.

Ogilvie. Another hun criminal, liar and thief. Well suited to them and the sfa.
TURKEYBHOY 1.50
Yup some amount of pish to be subjected to
By you!!
I know not of one fuq given by what the hun is doing or even worse the rekkkord itself
Keep your bog roll and rollaround in their keech to yourself, sad enough even mentioning such pish,i guess its your age,no one reads it i know, yourself excluded of course,if we do we can click ourselves.
Champions league matchday- any comment?

I think we have learned over the years that an opposing team in Europe in poor form in their own league does not a poor team make. And so it goes with Dynamo in Zagreb. Just checked the weather over there and it is fair to say it is Baltic down there in the Balkans. Still if I am not mistaken we, being from Glasgow, (55o51’54.5″N) are the most Northern team in the CL and are no strangers to the low temps, or bars wi nae heating.
There’s whisky in the jar bhoy, no need to add the ice.
Optimistic as always, concentration (and yer thermals) needed for ninety plus minutes.
the entitled fan.
some wittering on the radio last night as clyde finds a celtic supporter who complains if we play zagreb the way we played hibs we will get pumped.
followed by we are really poor defensively, and it is just scottish teams have poor finishers and we have an excellent goalkeeper, but if we dont start well we will get pumped, as they have good players (eh who ?)
finished by the perennial, we only plays in haufs, we have some good halfs and then lots of rubbish halfs, but we are never good for the whole 100 minutes.
master class in torn-faced whinging.
a rare win away in europe is my forecast, but if not just do not lose a goal.

No I had a great time in Bergamo but I have a wee bit much on with work this week.
I will be in Kitty OSheas Edinburgh for first half then the Scottish Engineers pub for second half and then my pal has twisted my arm to go watch his lad play for Spartans v Stranraer.
Aipple,’I use Opporchancity every day in my classroom. There is at least one time during my year that I try and put Scottish vernacular phrases on the board and get the kids to say it out loud, it is hilarious listening to them trying to mock a Scottish accent. They sound like they are from just north of Calcutta:))) I put my wee 84 yr old ma on speaker phone the other day, without her knowing in my class, and asked her about the Celtic game at the weekend. She said, ” och we nearly gave up a few but big friendly ghost was great.” I tried to get her to say something bad about the huns, and she exclaimed in her Wishy voice, “do you have me on the loud speaker again:)))))))) Got tae love the auld yins.
Looking forward to the game today though I have to be creative in my class with their work so that I can watch it live.
I am glad to see Charlie Nic in the media talking good about Celtic. Charlie was not everyone’s cup o tea, but what a player he was in his day, and even in his second coming with us, he still gave us some amazing goals.
I’m sitting here thinkin, :)))
Hail Hail and cmon the Hoops.
Sean
Being dragged around shops before the game. How I suffer for my art. 🙄
BS.

Until Henrik scored that goal, my favourite till then was Nics at ibrox, when he received the ball from a shy, then beats 5 players over 20 yards to score. in fact up till henrik, charlie was probably half the goals in my top 10. i seen nearly all his games for us, including the leg break at cappielow.
watch the icons programme on him.
very very good, and a different narrative to “he wanted to leave”.
i sat here thinking, what a special talent ……..if only he had went to liverpool/

I do not think one player from the youths looks ready to step up.
Daniel Cummings ( 18 ) scored a cracking goal and seems the most likely.
But will it happen ?
Sorry to harp back, but when Kojo was on here we were informed about our youths.
We often focus too much on the huns when there is soooo much celticness to contemplate.
HH, COYBIG.

A win tonight could be worth £2.6 million ( £1.7 for the win and £900K for a top 16 finish).
In financial terms it’s many multiples more important than Sunday.
But football is a game of emotion not rationality so most of us will gladly take a draw tonight, maybe even defeat for a win on Sunday.
I think we’ll win both. Tonight is a great test for us.

I’ve said before many times, I’ve beena Celtic fan since Donald Duck was an Egg.
Just watched Arsenal robbed of a goal by VAR. This is ruining the beautiful game. Made up by bureaucrats and box ticking pricks, it simply has to stop, get rid.
Dont get me satrted on yellow cards, ffs. Just award a foul, unless it;s deemed to be OTT.
Officials are without doubt, ruining the game we cherish.
Really getting pissed off with it all, and I am not a lover of Arsenal by any way
KINGLubO
…………………….
While I agree that VAR can be frustrating at times, I’m really glad we had it available last season. Without it we would have struggled big time and might have had a trophyless season.
Just some of the VAR calls that gave us justice when we needed it. 1. The foul by Dessers on Lagerbielke at Ibrox before Roofe put the ball in the net. Goal disallowed by VAR.
2. The foul by Lawrence on Iwata at Ibrox during the 3-3 game before Dessers put the ball in the net. Everybody in the UK, Ireland, Botswana and Vanuatu knew it was a foul but not Mr. Beaton who was 2 yds from the incident. Chris Sutton said it would be disallowed before Crocker told us that it was going to VAR. It was. It was 2-2 at the time and would have given the Huns the lead at a crucial time.
3. The Scottish Cup Final at Hampden when the Wee Fat Boy from Belgium pushed Joe Hart with two hands on his back to make sure he couldn’t cut out the cross from the Rangers corner before the ball was put in our net.’Goal’ ruled out by VAR.
I think there were also another couple of VAR decisions – the sending off of Lundstram at Celtic Park?
VAR is not the best but the incidents I’ve highlighted above would have cost us dearly and would have been accredited to ‘honest mistakes’ be the Sevco lickspittles in the media.
