‘QUICK, STRONG AND EXPERIENCED,’ O’NEILL’S LOTOMBA VERDICT

JORDAN LOTOMBA became Celtic’s TENTH summer signing when he agreed a season-long loan deal from Feyenoord.

The 27-year-old defender will be ideal cover for the right-back position with Canada World Cup No.2 Alistair Johnston out until at least next month with teenager Colby Donovan currently deputising in the role.

Scotland international Anthony Ralston is also on hand to offer extra competition for the jersey.

After welcoming the Dutch powerhouse to the champions, Martin O’Neill, speaking to CelticPlayer, said: “I’m really pleased to bring Jordan to the club.

“He is a quick, strong and experienced player.

DEBUT BHOY…on-loan Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka replaced Camilo Duran in the 74th minute in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Parkhead last night.

“He is adaptable, can play on both sides of the pitch and he is very comfortable on the ball. I believe we are bringing another quality player to the club.”

Prior to his move to the Netherlands in 2024, the Switzerland international spent time with YB Bern, where he lifted three Swiss league titles before moving to French Ligue 1 side Nice.

Celtic have paid something in the region of £35million to bring in strikers Kasper Hogh (Bodo/Glimt) and Camilo Duran (Qarabag), midfielders Mika Baur (SC Paderborn) and Joel van den Berg (Feyenoord) and winger Haissem Hassan (Real Oviedo).

Including Lotomba, five have arrived on loan. The others being goalkeeper Sam Johnstone (Wolves), midfielder Oliver Sorensen (Parma) and Chelsea teen aces left-back Landon Emanalo and striker Shim Mheuka, who made his debut in the second-half of the champions’ 3-0 win over Aberdeen last night.

Danish international Sorensen also made his first Hoops appearance as the team notched up a fourth successive league triumph to lead the table by two points from Saturday night’s opponents St Mirren.
