Raith call out SFA plans for Appellate Tribunal

1262

You wonder if Ally McCoist rues the day he called for the public outing of members of the SFA Judicial Panel which imposed a player registration ban on his club.  One judge, one journalist and one football club, Raith Rovers, were soon outed.  Crossing the Fifers was a mistake.

Raith Rovers are now pointing out the same facts we have discussed here for months:

“We are also concerned that there has not as yet been an opportunity for clubs to receive legal advice from the SFL and/or debate the potential consequences on the smooth running of our league in the event that the Courts are asked to annull/strike down any of the corporate transactions that have led to the current position of Sevco Scotland Ltd as owners of certain assets of the Rangers oldco.

“Indeed, the position as regards the potential sanctions to be applied by the Scottish FA via its Appellate Tribunal has also still to be bottomed out.”

In short, Sevco’s ownership of Ibrox may be nullified by the courts and the SFA will be forced to subvert judicial oversight if it wants to guarantee Sevco participate in football next season.

While these concerns were only expressed online, the SFA were able to ignore the issue, but with Raith Rovers asking the questions Mr Regan will have to look SFL clubs in the eye and tell them what he’s going to do with Lord Carloway.

Lurgan 53

Dwyer O’Hagan, or Lurgan 53 as he was known here, passed away on Wednesday after an illness stretching back to last year.  Dwyer enjoyed our triumphs and defeats on the blog for many years and will be sadly missed by us all.  Our condolences to his family and friends.

  1. Interesting to hear Alex Thompson say he has tried to contact UEFA on 15 occasions regarding the newco issue and has not had any reply. Would it take a club to contact them?

He also said he has tried to speak to the cardigan on a number of occasions, whats he got to hide?

    Keep it up AT.

  3. Hi Paul,

I wish I could share your confidence that they are heading for SFL3.

I was bemused when i heard “bomber” boldly state on RC that newco into SPL1 was a “done deal” – hours after their SPL rejection.

It put, for me, an interesting slant on the humility shown by Green just earlier when he said that they would play wherever they were put. It also put a different perspective on the 10 brave votes against newco for entry into the SPL.

I will be furious if PL’s bold statement on the official website was penned in the safe knowledge that they were only being banished for 12 months.

  5. Auld Neil Lennon heid,

SPL clubs are automatically SFA members. SFL clubs have to apply seperately – but that can be after they join the SFL.

    SFL Rule 16:

A Member or Associate Member who is not already a full or associate

member of the Scottish Football Association must make application to

become a full or associate member of the Scottish Football Association (as

the case may be) within fourteen (14) days of being admitted to membership

of the League failing which its membership of the League will lapse, and in

the event that the application is unsuccessful, its membership will lapse

upon that decision being intimated to the League.

Firstly, RIP Dwyer. A fine man, by all accounts, and well remembered by those who knew him. I enjoyed reading your views on here, friend.

Condolences to your family and friends.

I arrived here in Glasgow about an hour ago, having driven from Aberdeen. On the way down, we passed a sign outside Stirling, warning of major disruption in the town centre due to an ‘event’. My wife asked if the Queen was visiting. Driving a little further, we passed under a bridge, standing on which was a young boy holding aloft a large ‘English’ flag, with the vile ‘red hand’ emblazoned on it. My wife asked why anyone would be waving an english flag at passing cars on a motorway so close to Bannockburn.

I explained what the flag was, and what it signified, and she said “people like that have no place in Scotland”.

Unfortunately, they have. Not only do they have a place, but they are welcomed, and allowed to parade in large numbers, spreading fear, hatred and bigotry.

They have a place, but thankfully, it’s not in the City where I live. Aberdeen City Council routinely rejects applications to hold these ‘hatefests’ in our city. As far as I’m aware, ther hasn’t been one take place for years now, since Police had to lock customers in a city centre bar for fear of large scale unrest breaking out as the joyous gathering passed close by.

There’s a lot wrong with Aberdeen, but there’s an awful lot right about it, especially the refusal to accept that people should be allowed to intimidate, antagonise, belittle and frighten innocent passersby going about their day-to-day business.

I love Glasgow, and it’s people. I’m a regular visitor, and have been for years. I will continue to enjoy the unique hospitality given to visitors, but I’ll never be able to get my head round the decision to allow the Orange Order to wreak havoc int the city and it’s surrounds on such a regular basis.

Surely in this respect, it’s time Glasgow ( and central /western/ Scotland ) dragged itself into the 21st Century.

This is in response to the stance of RR and other clubs. The SFL club answer is simple, refuse to play Sevco. Might as well as it is all about getting them into SPL pdq.

Excellent posts….I also find it totally unbelieveable that the assets can just be sold off cheaply to avoid the creditors.

My firm belief, when this liquidation is finally administered, is that BDO will retrieve the assets through litigation – leaving Sevco 5088 with no home and training facilities. I truly believe they will, as a club, not play football next season.

For Gods sake they haven’t been handed a punishment yet, and believe me…..It’s coming.

    67Heaven,

scotland has always produced good young players, however there is to much emphasis placed on boy’s physical make-up rather than their technical ability, which is not surprising given that football in scotland is played at 100 miles an hour and 80 % of the time the balls in the air. i recall a large club from the southside ditching about 10 boys aged 14 most of whom were good players (technically) but all were on the small side, ever large/ built player was kept regardless of their limitations. I recall john fleck coming through the system and everyone was raving about him, the i seen him play he was very powerful and looked good, but as my brother said when he’s a man he’ll have little to offer because thats all he’s got!!!!!! brother asked celtic scouts to look at danny wilson, celtic man, but they said no.

usually by the time boys reach 13/14 they have to be about 5 9/ 10 to have a chance, dont get me wrong some smaller boys will get through, but far fewer that should be the case. what that means is a drop of what i would consider the more technically gifted players. talking to my boy today we were talking about all the boys he came through the pro-youth system with and only james forrest and scott allan have pushed on with regards the technically gifted players, there were/ are many more.

we need a change in football style if we are ever to make progress from top to bottom.

that is the real challenge and shame of scottish football

NOT a wise move as it turned out,but what the hell……….

  25. Guys

Looks to me as though the football establishment now realise that they cannot allow votes to go to the clubs , so the only option to gerrymander Dignity (RIP) is some sort of executive order from the SFA.

If this happens that there will be umpteen protests to the SFA from SPL clubs who will see a debt free competitor potentially as opposition in 2013-14 season. Also clubs like Raith and Falkirk will chuck their hat into the ring and protest.

I believe this will end up at UEFA and Dignity (RIP) will end up in Div 3 , in a similar fashion to Fiorenta not so long ago, put there by UEFA.

All senior executives in SPL, SFA and SFL with their names associated with the gerrymandering will be out of post 12 months from now.

Hmmmm – looks like ‘the fix’ is in place.

This is absolutely shocking. I would honestly implore fans of all clubs to state their intentions up front to boycott game 1 of the fixture list in all leagues. Let day 1 start with a few wee boys and a dug watching every game – including ours. Then let them know that it will continue to happen on other weekends as determined by the supporters – in effect a supporters strike.

Make no mistake – this is being done at the behest of the SPL chairmen – I suspect including Celtic – to return to business as usual a.s.a.p.
