Raith Rovers Revenge

259

It’s less than four days since the SFA, SPL and SFL chief executives met at Hampden to devise a plan to destroy and rebuild Scottish football within three weeks, coincidentally, allowing a Newco access to the second tier of the Scottish league pyramid.

Just as the SPL clubs rejected Neil Doncaster’s strong advocacy that they co-opt Newco directly into the top tier, Scottish Football League clubs are already showing an unwillingness to be boxed into a corner.

Before today’s meeting of the SFL board Raith Rovers have already pinned their colours to the mast, “the board of directors of Raith Rovers FC is unanimous in its view that we shall certainly not cast our vote in favour of any integrated plan that in our view compromises sporting integrity by involving the admission of any ‘Newco’ directly into Division One”.

Earlier this year Raith were caused considerable cost and inconvenience after Rangers manager, Ally McCoist, publicly demanded to know the identities of the SFA Judicial Panel who penalised the club for not paying social taxes.  Rangers already knew that a Rovers director was on the panel.

Stewart Regan’s position is untenable. It’s not as if any of these guys is irreplaceable. Mediocre administrators? In this jobs market? Ten a penny.

  2. Duff&Duffer when they came in, stated rangers had to shave £1 Million a month off their monthly bill. They let two board members walk and that as far as I am aware was their job done. Now all the players are back on their full contracts and due their wages tomorrow.

    This should be interesting…

Would you say the same of Paddy McCourt? He’s not here (he’s on holiday). There’s very little transfer activity of any nature going on at the moment.

You may well be right (and probably are) but I don’t think we’re at the hysterical stages yet.

I’d be content for the board to say nothing prior to the 4 July meeting and simply inform people on their way out of it that they voted ‘no’, with no further comment on RFC(IA) or Sevco 5088.

  7. I apologise to any incorrigible methadone users out there who may have been offended by my former comment uncharitably comparing them to an A-Grade hun…it was an unforgivable oversight.

Who has mentioned the meeja, had the keeper wanted to be here, he’d be here. Two years the club have been clear they want him, following him about like a love sick slapper, I don’t need the meeja to form a negative opinion, just observation of the facts 2 times now we have tried to sign him and he’s still messing us about.

Not sure we tried to sign him last year(other than on loan).

We all know contract negiotations can be long drawn out affairs-he has to get the best deal for his family and himself. We are all massive Celtic fans on here but he is a Geordie and this is a job to him albeit a fantastic one.

He will find it difficult(impossible!) to find a club as big as ours but nonetheless it is not a great league but i’m confident the lure of Champions League football will ensure he will sign eventually.

The virulent pathogen formerly known as Rangers FC stored up a massive quantum of bad, bad karma before its miserable collapse into wretched perdition. Not a day passes now without at least one of its victims recalling a humiliating insult or painful injury suffered at the behest of NastyClub. The chance to settle old scores is being seized with both hands.

I salute the supporters of all of the clubs who have convinced their directors to reject the series of contemptible manoeuvres which were designed to salvage the Shame at the expense of the game. Just as their bad karma is catching up with the Huns to deliver their just desserts, I’d like to think that our sporting rivals who have done themselves great credit recently will reap some benefits from our own support as we all go forward into the future with realistic hopes of establishing a fair domestic game for the very first time in any of our lifetimes.

My impression is that Celtic wanted him on loan. I’m not aware of any serious attempt before now to make the deal permanent.

Are FF’s contract negotiations any more protracted than Scott Brown’s?

  13. Historically hysterical or hysterically historical?

A tale from history: I once knew a historian who was hysterical about history. I wasn’t sure if it was the history that made him hysterical, or if we was just a hysteric studying history- I’m still not sure.

    Celtic Soul….,

We tried to sign him last year and again in the winter, quite a few on were unhappy he never signed then. I was patient then, that’s gone.

I’m beginning to think he is being given qualities he doesn’t posses. Personally I credit our defensive sieve for most of the clean sheets he has been credited with,

  15. Celtic Soul Brother, Neil canamalar & Mort, I haven’t had the opportunity to view prior posts, but I notice comments presumably relating to Fraser Forster. We need to tell him that a contract offer is on the table until the end of 29th June, whereafter there is no offer.

If FF doesn’t sign by then, Allan McGregor is available without a transfer fee. Make him an offer. McGregor is probably a better keeper than FF anyway.

McGregor’s background should make no difference to us. We are not bigots.

That Keith Jackson “interview” on Talksport is incredible.

Jackson thinks the Internet Bampots are at it and don’t know why we want to punish Rangers (or new rangers) – AYE WE DO.

The fact that Talksport and other media get their Scottish info from the likes of him and the others in the hack pack really says it all.

The folk who are in the minority in Scotland are quite clearly the Laptop loyal, ex-players and managers of Dead Parrot FC and the more delusional among their fans.

    It is over.

When the big rubber stamp comes it will be official and then we’ll see who does walking away.

Jackson and co are worried about two things – their jobs and the club they all support. The Souptakers who abuse Celtic are slightly different but the point stands.

Too many journos at too many papers chasing too few stories and they are worried. They have shown they know hee haw about finances (billionaire talk alone showed us this) and they banged the drum about the SKY deal which is now proving to be less important than they wanted it to be.

Never ceases to confirm what we already knew eh?

  19. duff & duffer are in danger of getting themselves in a pickle over this TUPE issue. I assume that they’re supporting Charles Green’s view that the contracts have transferred and therefore the players are no longer oldco employees.

If the view turns out to be different (which it will) old rangers will be left with a load of expensive employees which they haven’t issued redundancies to, and will therefore be liable for the additional wages to pay up until the point when they finally accept that they have to issue redundancies. Once again reducing the funds available to creditors.

Also, where is the SPL prize/TV money and outstanding transfer fee money going? Under the CVA these funds were to go to Sevco, but then the CVA was rejected. So it remains oldco’s cash available to creditors, right?

I stated weeks ago that a Spartans or Highland League club more likely to get Div 3 vacancy than Sevco.

The major stumbling blocks will be 1) nobody wants them

    2) they are not credible financially

Other teams have year on year audited accounts.

Recent developments ( no players) will present particular challenge in field scream at any level.

The sands of time are now running too swiftly.

No Sevco Huns in Scotland next year…

  23. Gonna say it and i know it ain’t gonna be popular but I genuinely am not looking forward to 3 years plus without a Huns game. The SPL is going to be seriously crap. Bought a season ticket for coming season but will see what pans out after that.

I am actually for Huns starting from div 1 for that reason alone.

Not been much made from Celtic on loss if Huns match and impact. Main one being interest factor. Don’t believe for a second it will be anything other than the usual dull fare but now without the excitement of the Huns match. The thought of doling out regular hammerings still appeals to me anyway.

I also believe we have lost a major selling point for both recruiting and retaining players. This match is a major thing for any player plying their trade in Scotland. Who the hell is going to stick about playing St J, Mwell and St Mirren 4 times a season for next 3 years. Highlight of season is a Hearts game…God help us.

The Huns have pumped themselves and the game as a whole in Scotland by there cheating. Not denying it. I just feel we will all be bored Sh@tless within 18 months. 1st division not exactly draconian

Punishment i know, but need to look at bigger picture unfortunately.

  26. BigChipsUK

Recent speculation stems from a quote from Alan Pardew where he says he expects Forster to back at Newcastle next week for pre-season training.

As the loan deal was up to end of this season and no permanent deal has been agreed this would make sense as he would still be a Newcastle player.

Easy for us to say that the club should give him a deadline to decide without knowing if a concrete offer has been made.

Would it surprise anyone if Celtic were holding out a couple of weeks so as to save money on wages during the summer?
