We spoke about the prospect of two 27-year-old left backs next season: Kieran Tierney and Greg Taylor. Both excellent players but without development potential. Our right back options are similar; Alistair Johnston and Tony Ralston are both 26.
Alistair has been a revelation since he arrived in January 2023, replacing Josip Juranovic, who had just played in a World Cup semifinal. The Canada international will hopefully stay through the peak of his career, which would leave limited opportunity for Ralston, during his own peak period.
Tony came in from the cold and featured heavily during Ange Postecoglou’s first term in Scotland. The player has established himself in the Scotland squad but will forever play a bit part at Celtic.
Tony needs to move on; he should play regularly during his prime years. Celtic cannot abandon player development. Backup roles should be for young players with potential to grow into great assets. Player development should again be a crucial part of out strategic plan.

Every year they speculated MON was going home to England on his
RollingContract CSC
___
We dreaded every day that one of England’s top teams would make a move for our blessed, softly spoken, and much sought after, and utterly superb, Irish manager, Martin O’Neill.
The only manager since the great Jock Stein who had turned Parkhead into thee most feared Fortress in European football.
All the top clubs instructed their fanbases to come up with some form of colourful replication of what they had just experienced at Fortress Parkhead.
This was in reference to the spine tingling renditions of “YNWA” being sung which became the most optical selling point in Celtic’s marketing of the images of endless seas of Green & White scarves as we belted out our favourite anthem.
This was the tail off end of the best fans in the World era.
MON left to treat his sick wife, and WGS came into the Lawwell regime at a good time just as the Huns had started to downsize after David Murray share flotation was slung by majority of Huns and the start of the Hun basket case era had begun, which Celtic sleekitly joined by downsizing the MON players and we haven’t had such quality at Parkhead since with virtually equal quality levels of opposition, with an Ibrox team worth near enough £150 million which highlights just how good MON and his players were.
And now we have out of touch erses running the club who switch the lights off for Lawwell’s stupid assed Disko Light Show which turns Parkhead into a chamber of darkness, just when “YNWA” is sung with even lesser and lesser scarves being held up, even in cup finals vs the Huns.
The lack of scarves is the first sign that apathy has gained a foothold inside Parkhead.
Only to be followed by fans leaving earlier, and earlier, and being called “Entitled” by the same idiot fans who voted for the crackpot, woke, gender-bending, anti White people, political SNP and Scottish Labour parties.
The Jungle would singing to wake you all up about these creeps, snp/greens who build HUNdreds of miles of cycle lanes which no one will ever use, all around the Parkhead access areas as well too!
Then fans start not renewing their soon to be 5 Eyes back doors, security scamming, and constant unexplained data outages with facial recognition tickets.
Then they start picking and choosing their games, going lesser and lesser, all the while being blamed for thousands of rows of empty seats by these idiot empty headed fans who have become sheep with empty heads.
This assault on fans privacy and personal data to be in the hands of seriously dodgy folk, is a move which has been bolstered by the majority amount of sheep showed the Establishment just how weak they really are when put to the test.
As the majority of them complied with taking the knee for Black Racist Thieves or BLM in USA who were money launderers financed by USAID crime circuits.
And also here in not so bonny Scotland the sheep were brow beaten ( by the media and krankie ) into wearing Covid masks that don’t work, taking vaccines which don’t work either, joining in with the witch hunting, and cancel culture, and banning from CQN and some other sheep filled blog, of good intentioned folk who tried to warn the sheep, sadly to no avail.
But sheep are sheep and not a lot can be done about that.
These “do gooders” believing the fake media and lying politicians who don’t have any intention of helping you, but can do the opposite of help you, this compliance was started and checked from, as far back as observing minutes silence for “Poppy Day” and Ibrox disaster scammers, “Poppy day” is a masonic ritual that the majority of folk are bullied into observing, because nobody will tell the truth about it, so all the sheep hear is lies and half truths or just plain bs.
Speak the truth and you become a target for those who prefer the back of the bus.
But the back of the bus will will not keep Parkhead full with all of these sleekit Woman haters and thur cycle lanes will shut Celtic down sooner than later tick tock and it will be left to the GB as usual to protest about the cycle lanes and then they will be called “Entitled” by these empty headed sheep who vote for cycle lanes political parties then sleekitly ignore the damage that their voting is inflicting upon Celtic, as they whine about empty seats.
These sleekits would EACH already have a big empty stadium T-shirt wearing Elephant RAGING like a HUN riot mob already in all of their living rooms if it was anything to do with me.
He’s done it again. How LONG would that take to produce and write up? And then know that just about everyone ignores it/you?
How sad.

Productive conversations,
we want to purchase all the shares for half the money.
bigots den episode.
there was a very funny radio clyde guest tonight.
the scousers told the tale of what the guy thewell did for everton.
he said
in a few years he will be seen as a genius, he kept the company aflot by beating the fsr rules by some creative accountancy of effectively inflating players values in transfers, and do swap deals. and then other clubs used this work around.
sounds a perfect fit.
Lord, I was born a ramblin’ man
Going about my trolling ,and typin’ the worst can
And when it’s time for leavin’, I hope you’ll understand
That I was born a ramblin’ man
On Brendans future I just dont know. He came back because he let us down by leaving in the manner he left. He didn’t realise this at the time but being called a rat affected him and his family. He will see out his contract this time.
Alternatively, he has become Dermots right hand man. He deals direct with Desmond and gets his way. He runs the club and the Board do what he wants, He stays until he wants to leave but he may never leave and could take of a Director of Football role with a seat on the Board and a first team coach reporting to him.
Whatever his ambition is I hope he gets it. Dermot may even pass on the baton to Brendan with his proxy to run the club as he sees fit
i like what you said there.
Big Bhoy
I like the cut of your gib
“ Whatever his ambition is I hope he gets it. Dermot may even pass on the baton to Brendan with his proxy to run the club as he sees fit “
That might upset one or two on here
Has BR ever played vs a Hun opposition which could afford more than a packet of fags?
McCoist has been hearing that Brendan “might” replace Angeball at Spurs.
Hmmmm….
Will Scottish football bail Celtic out when the snp/greens empty the stadium by making fans walk a minimum of 4 miles to the stadium if travelling in a car?
What do you mean it wont happen? It already is happening.
When will snp/greens start building cycle lanes around Ibrox?
Have the Huns threatened civil unrest? Quite right if they did imho.
See when you send out the message that you’ll bow for this, kneel for that, rattle pots and pans for empty Hospitals whilst the lying Nurses are inside dancing up and down the wards making tik tok videos, what kind of stupid does that make you?
Goodnight all. Sleep well.
No as stupid as you
🌚
” Nurses dancing in the wards making Tik Tok videos”
You need your baws booted, you ignorant cretin.
Think the queue to do that would be bigger than the one at the Vatican today.

Great memories of seasons gone by and how much they mean to us for a variety of reasons
85/86 was a great season for me.
Brilliant start to the season, often forgotten.
Played Hearts off the park at Celtic Parrk but lost 0-1
… then scraping past Well at Fir Park before a mini collapse saw us losing 3 games on the trot shipping 10 goals.
Stabilised a bit across winter but still trailed Hearts and Dundee United into early spring.
Came together in the last eight games.
We won them all, including two great wins at Love Street.
Personally speaking, that spring also saw the start of a beautiful relationship that lasted several years between me …
.. and West Tip.
Good Morning Fholks – Grand Day To Be A Tim
See we are touching on the aul’ moneyball myth again.
Got to say, some very good posts with some seriously good points.
Excellent post and nail on the head comment…
AN TEARMANN @ 12:37 PM,
“Let our manager determine the type of player strategy that will ensure continued success”
Then a bit of a headscrather..!?
CELTIC40ME @ 12:49 PM,
“I think you’ve [QUADROPHENIAN @ 12:28 PM] misunderstood the player trading model. AJ wasnt signed as a development player, he was too old for a big future transfer fee sale, any trading profit would be much lower than that of a player signed and sold before he was 25. He was one of those signings that some people claim we don’t make but make up the majority of our first team – well scouted, sensibly priced and here for the best years of their career”
Who claims that we don’t make those signings!? Anybody!?
Anyway, maybe QUADROPHENIAN has got a very good understanding of our player trading model.
Mibees C-40ME as a disciple of the moneyball myth, maybe it’s you who is struggling for understanding.
“…any trading profit would be much lower than that of a player signed and sold before he was 25.”
Of the two hundred plus players that we have signed since the aul’ Board went all moneyball, how many players fit that description? The under 25 y.o. that gave us that big profit? And as a bit of a figures guru – maybe C-40ME could give us that number as a % as well!?
SAINT STIVS @ 12:57 PM,
Another great comment, among some very pertinent points…
“…As to development, AJ, Scales, Taylor, Reo, Kuhn, Maeda, all have purple patches of excellence amd have been better than the season before, any of them could be the next big sell, all over the 24 mark”
And This…
CELTIC MAC @ 7:38 PM,
“Develop players?
There’s an idea….”
What age, profile, price does a player have to be to get developed at Celtic?
Surely development is about better Celtic players and about value!? The value the player brings to himself, the team, our club and yes, the PLC… that should be what player development is all about.
Now Truth..!!
BIGBHOY @ 2:36 PM,
“I think we should keep Tony Ralston. He is a local lad and life long supporter. He loves this club. He is tough and gives plenty of effort. He is becoming a leader and a great lad to let others know the history.
We probably need more Celtic supporters”
Pertinent..!!
BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL @ 4:50 PM,
“Yorkbhoy @ 3:24pm.
Brilliant point…
….Finding the balance between short, medium and long term goals is very difficult …
For Celtic
For every football club
For every business
Needs everyone bought in and pulling in the same direction.”
Q and A time..!?
CELTIC40ME @ 5:38 PM
“SAINT STIVS on 23RD APRIL 2025 5:27 PM
Q – “how isnt it happening ?”
A – Brendan has a different view on a fundamental part of the clubs strategy to the board. He’s made it as clear as crystal that there are tensions about the profile of the sort of player he’d like to sign. They arent pulling in the same direction when it comes to a very important part of how the club is run
Let me unpack that for you…
Who is on the Celtic Board?
We have the Executive, as those are the guys who sign the cheques put their professional reputation on the line, then obviously they support the current recruitment.
We have the principal shareholder, the guy who gives the nod to the Executive to sign the Cheques, obviously he supports the current recruitment.
The manager, coaches, recruitment team all have an input on signings – obviously they support the current recruitment.
So, the only ones that “clear as crystal” don’t are the Chairman and his NED friends.
So, if they won’t be team players, if… “They arent pulling in the same direction when it comes to a very important part of how the club is run they must GO!! And take their old, staid, failed ways with them.

Good morning Bhoys.
Wonderful times back then….,and still.

The old staid NEDs have presided over 25 years of unparalleled success for our club on and off the field….. fact. Even more incredible is they have done this keeping the club solvent and indeed pushing it forward against the power and globalisation of the EPL and other top 4 leagues.
They have been there whilst managers and players have come and gone are there as representatives of the majority shareholders. DD and Chris Trainer in particular. As long as these guys are happy then the continuity is assured.
Is that good or is that bad. Well the chaos across the city where there is a franchise with similar potential suggests it is not all bad. That said there is scope to freshen and enliven it. Certainly a next generation input here and there could be of value. We see DD family engaging and Chris T family are big fans and investors in for long term. Perhaps we will see an evolution.
The huge over reliance on any individual is not good. Whether it is PL or BR. For me an evolution at board level aligned to better structure of a football department and a clear proper org which does not allow us to be hostage to any executive members (and chair) would be desirable.

So much of that Leeds game I have forgotten so looking g forward to watching that. With German commentary.
Incredible that it was not until 4 years later that a German team first won the European cup.

Saint Stivs, never thought of that, makes more sense than the idiot!
Anyway, thanks for the heads-up re. the Irishman in Chorley. ‘Phoned them up and got sorted for Saturday – thought the guy on the other side of the phone had just arrived from Dublin the night before, going by his brogue.

Lots of noise about their new messiah Padraag around today. They certainly know how to structure a modern sporting franchise. I doubt they will ever have come across one with such a glass ceiling in terms of upside.
Short of guaranteed CL involvement and a phenomenal player development strategy I can’t see how they can get an ROI without huge structural change in the game itself.
It will be interesting to watch. I personally hope the ‘epitome of traditional rangers values’ are the first thing to go. Walter’s legacy is more of a danger to me than any football revolution and outsider manager.
B78
No emotional attachments – it will be strictly business. Will be interesting

I admire your indefatigability, with the CQN read back.
Ole Martin knows where his home is, but he’s fair ripping it up as a former manager of the world’s most beautiful and miraculous club , half expecting to bump into him when I’m out the messages, he’s here that often.
“ The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners, where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. “
Only two more sleeps if we can borrow another phrase from deepest East Kilbride.

My friends in Celtic,
Not a criticism, only an observation.
Lots of posts discussing the ” Rangers”. I get it.
Realistically speaking they are the only team who can challenge us domestically. The only club who can challenge us financially.
Good reading back about previous wins. I feel Scottish football was much more competitive in the past.
Now we are so far ahead in both playing staff and financially i can understand why the anticipated 9th treble is not being celebrated with such gusto.
Our tickets against the huns are like gold dust and our fans stay after 75 minutes no matter if we are winning, losing or drawing..
Many of our fans are embracing the current trend of leaving circa 75 minutes in all other home games. This is very noticible and the reasoning is largely self explanatory. Adding more ” cannon fodder ” to the league is not the answer
Our club is so well run we have blown domestic opposition out of the water.
That is why I feel European football is so important for us. More important than ever before. We need competitive opposition.
To stop the exodus circa 75 minutes we need to play quick, exciting and entertaining football for 90 minutes.
That is a hard ask of our ” best fit” manager and our players, nevertheless it must be done.
Going forward, we must never downsize to create competion. We must continue with betterment at our core. To enable this we must explore all avenues that will enhance our product and grow our club on and off the park.
HH.
