CELTIC defender Anthony Ralston avoided being hurt following a car crash near the club’s Lennoxtown facility yesterday.

The right-back, currently out through injury, was involved in the smash near the village of Milton of Campsie, a mile from the club’s training ground.

Ralston, 21, did not have to attend hospital and was said to have been fortunate to avoid injury.

The Scotland Under-21 defender made his first appearance of the campaign in the home game against Motherwell on December 13 and it was a case of happy returns as he opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark with the Hoops going on to win 3-0.

Ralston kept his place for the next win – another 3-0 victory at Parkhead, this time against Dundee – before being crocked and making way for Mikael Lustig to return for the 4-3 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Boxing Day.

He has yet to figure this year and Brendan Rodgers has brought in Borussia Dortmund No.2 Jeremy Toljan for the reaminder of the campain.
