RALSTON IN THE COLD AFTER SNUB

ANTHONY RALSTON is out in the international cold after being snubbed for the Scotland squad.

The Celtic right-back has had an impressive start to the season and has played in every minute of the nine competitive games since Ange Postecoglou took charge.

Ralston has also contributed a couple of goals against Hearts and Dundee in successive Premiership outings, but his performances have not been enough to catch the eye of Steve Clarke.

The full international pool of players has been announced  for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Denmark, Moldova and Austria with Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell and Nathan Patterson, of Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side, getting the nod for the No.2 role.

Getting a call-up from Clarke, though, are Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor, David Turnbull, James Forrest and Ryan Christie.

Stephen Welsh and Adam Montgomery have been brought into Scot Gemmill’s squad for the European Under-21 qualifier against Turkey in Bursa on Tuesday, September 7.

Ralston is poised to play against AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of the Europa League play-off final in the Netherlands tomorrow night as the club defend a 2-0 advantage from last week’s first game.
