Rangers in administration without tax case

1363

There are not words powerful enough to describe today’s news.  The English language is insufficient and I have no Greek or Latin.  Rangers Football Club have today asked the Court of Session to appoint an administrator, unable to service their creditors.  The freight train of their tax tribunal has yet to hit, these events relate exclusively to how the club has operated in other areas.

Scottish Premier League rules state that clubs are deducted 10 points on going into administration, which will give Celtic a 14 point lead at the top of the table once in effect.

This is a day we have predicted will come for over three years.  It has been inevitable for that long.  Now the really interesting events will happen.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

Up the Celts!

So that’s all senior currant ‘money men’ removed to a safe distance………

    Hmmmmmm.

Let’s keep an eye on that one.

Deep in his simple heart of hearts, Duffield will know

tonight that whatever the game is, it’s most certainly a bogey…

    He is such a clown.

Does anyone have the real scoop on why he resigned from this well paid job ?

  3. i can honestly say that every celtic fan i have spoken to about this tells me they would be happy if ranger’s died, a view i share, yet every time i listen the the phone ins, i keep getting told celtic fans want rangers games and want rangers to survive

    not what i have witnessed

i would like to see them die, and i dont think a newco should be given spl status they should be treated like the rest of the clubs in scotland. if that means no celtic rangers games, no/ little t.v deals etc… drop in sponsership money then so be it.

but i think it would be a good thing for scottish football and for celtic and i think we could go into a bigger league setup two games against every team each season, playoffs for europe and relegation, sell t.v deal to normal channel, better chance of keeping and actually improving sponsership deals for every club

more chance for young players within every team in scotland as well as our team

no need for a 30 man squad, reduced squad size, but same level of quality

more football games on a saturday afternoon.

we did not create the problems ranger are having, we should not be looking to find a salution to their problem.

no more listening to their vile songs

    whats not to like

    Incidentally –

Spare a thought for Steven Naismith. Long term injury. Will be the first to get his contract ripped up as is completely no use in the short term to an administrator.

Poor young chap having his earning curtailed like that. Especially when he won`t be fit to kick a ball again until August. Might struggle badly to get another contract anywhere. What a shame.

We became DU / M’well / Killie the day BTM was appointed the manager.

He was in my opinion the 10th best candidiate in a 12 man long list.

He got the job because he was seen as being able to work with cheap players.

The board wanted a yes man who would work with what he was given.

As for your other points I fear you make my argument for me.

We did not sell JMcG and we continued to have success.

However it was a time long ago and its relevance to the situation today is tenuous to say the least.

The one common thread in this would be that the owners of the club were in it for themselves.

Regarding the situation in the 70’s it is the Old Board we are talking about.

Everyone knew where the money went – the offices above the chip shop – but no-one knew how much.

JS had a good stab at trying to build the LL’s Mk2 but money was tight.

Consequently good people were shown the door and cheaper players brought in.

Thats what happens when you play the attendance game.

Overall I think that the club invested in players for 7 of the 9 in a row years.

So much for the history lesson, but my basic point still stands.

We are at best player traders and at worst when we have no CL / EuL money we are player sellers.

I have no issue with working the squad to the max.

However if we are trying to build a club it is better that we put money in rather than take money out when building a squad.

If you want the club to grow, PL and the Irish Raj have to go – simples.

Our cashflow was £6mill negative over the past 6 months.

We had a poor pre-season and an indifferent start to the season.

We were 9 points behind the TFOD even after they lost points to Hertz on the opening day.

Unless you want to understand this then you are just a board happy clapper.

    Our squad is too big.

Our wage bill is too high.

We are not investing enough in the squad.

    Good Evening

I have tried making this post at least three times but sometime last night my laptop decided to be anything but loyal and all attempted posts simply disappeared into the ether.

So here goes for a fourth or fifth time.

Far more important the the alleged events going on elsewhere ( more on that later perhaps ), is the need for me to thank all those who turned up for the CQN Quiz for Vanessa Riddle.

As Paul has mentioned on a previous post, great credit has to go to Taggsybhoy and his family for organising and conducting the whole event. John was ably assissted by wife Lis and “Wee Joe” who is undoubtedly a star of the future, with a personality and a confidence that knows no bounds.

Thanks too go to Frank O’Hagan for his excellent entertainment at the end of the night, and to Paul 67 for a number of things– the site obviously, his featuring the appeal for Vanessa on the blog and in the CQN Magazine, and for turning up for the start of the night and his kind words. Thanks to all who donated prizes, sold badges, Tony for the magazines and so on. It was great to see such common purpose and the sheer enjoyment of being among a Celtic crowd.

I would like to say a personal thankyou, to all those who came and introduced themselves and had a chat. I was made to feel very much at home amidst what can only be described as a group of familiar strangers. However, I do have to apologise for not being better prepared when it came to making a short speech! I was literally given 90 seconds notice that I was expected to say something, and whilst that is no hardship my apologies to all present for your being subjected to my spur of the moment, although heartfelt, drivel!

Oul RP McMurphy who was with me was heard talking to someone else during the night and more or less summed up perfectly:

” He talks the same way he writes:—– Shite!”

I saw someone on the blog yesterday asking if I was a Lawyer– forgive me, I can’t remember the name though I did have it in my first three attempted posts yesterday. To answer that question I will only say that when I am asked to make a speech these days it often starts with the sentence ” I used to be a Lawyer— but I am alright now!” I gave up mainstream legal practice over 6 years ago, thank the lord, to become a freelance bozo and cowboy boot model. It is much more fun, though for some reason some deranged people do continually employ me as what is known as a Legal Executive or Management Consultant– and so amazingly I get to talk shite for a living!

Anyway, it was a great night, with some great humour, some fabulous musical knowledge on display and if I may say so some penetrating and almost psychic questions from the Quizmaster.

” Name two crap local bands who support the Gers?”

and the best of the night

” Name the Rangers Chairman and is he a total Fud?”

I was delighted to meet so many folk who are regular posters and I enjoyed what chats we had and can only recommend such an event to all who were not there or have never attended a CQN night or day.

Happily we raised a great amount for Vanessa too. There is still a long way to go with her fund and time is the enemy as it is very easy to forget that this wee girl is seriously unwell and each and every day is a fight for her.

By the grace of whatever God we follow she will get her funds, fly to Philadelphia, receive her treatment and hopefully live a long and happy Celtic supporting life.

If sheer goodwill and spirit were enough to cure her then the kindness and care of those present in room 109 should be bottled and sent out to all in need. Alas you cannot bottle such good intentions mixed with fun and social reverie. However, many years ago, someone did package it and sent it out into the world under the name

    CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB.

Thanks again to all those who attended– you are the epitome of the Celtic ethos, I am proud to have shared your company, and hopefully I will get the chance to do so again in the future.

    Brogan

  9. Man charged after Amarone restaurant siege in Glasgow

A man has been charged with breach of the peace after a siege at a Glasgow restaurant on Friday evening.

Craig Whoite 48 a Motherwell Born Billionaire made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A large area of Glasgow city centre was sealed off for almost eight hours when police were called to the Amarone Italian restaurant last week.

This was mainly due to a large crowd of Celtic Supporters demanding Ice Cream and Jelly

Head Waiter at Amarone Enrico Annowalot said “everything was going well until I told him his final bill did not include tax”

yogijunior3, you need to be careful with the flow of cash, not necessarily Whyte’s version of it. Ticketus will have a security, ticket money for years to come has already been spent and cannot be spent again. He must not be very careful with his steps to make a phoenix possible.

Agree, the CVA seems v unlikely. An SPL phoenix must be his potential upside, but even then, he will have plenty of debt to service and very limited income streams, not to mention bad-will.

Of the fans outside Ibrox right now, how many of them were NOT at the Dundee Utd game – the game of all games to stand up and show they ‘were ra peepil’!?

How come not one Rangers supporters group has suggested an amalgation to pool resources and get comms out r/e some sort of a payment package designed to help the club, whether thats a down payment, or direct debit!?

Im fairly sure that Craig Whyte has found a move which is why the timing of the announcement appears not so much random, but seemingly surprising.

I wonder how many millions they are going to shave off their debts.

Is it likely any local businesses will come under increased pressure to survive if as expected the huns go into administration and confirm they wont get a penny the huns owe them?

Rangers have such records as ‘record number of league championships’ – can this record be struck off if not any of the league wins purchased with debt they could never repay?

    This is a wonderful day

The comical and colourful Celtic fans will no doubt give us all cause for tears of laughter as they create verse after verse and song after song by pure randomness!

  29. Members of Rangers’ first team squad have contacted the PFA Scotland union seeking advice over the possibility of the club going into administration.

The Ibrox club filed papers to the Court of Session on Monday signalling their intention to appoint an administrator. The club now has ten days in which to announce administrators have assumed control.

It is understood players have made contact to clarify how administration would directly affect them, as well as asking questions over what would happen if they were to lose their jobs.
