Rangers in administration without tax case

1363

There are not words powerful enough to describe today’s news.  The English language is insufficient and I have no Greek or Latin.  Rangers Football Club have today asked the Court of Session to appoint an administrator, unable to service their creditors.  The freight train of their tax tribunal has yet to hit, these events relate exclusively to how the club has operated in other areas.

Scottish Premier League rules state that clubs are deducted 10 points on going into administration, which will give Celtic a 14 point lead at the top of the table once in effect.

This is a day we have predicted will come for over three years.  It has been inevitable for that long.  Now the really interesting events will happen.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

Up the Celts!

  4. From The Guardian:

A Scottish Premier League spokesman said that a 10-point deduction and a transfer Embargo would only be put in place when administration was confirmed.

The spokesman said: “At this point in time Rangers are not in administration and we await developments. The instant that they are technically in administration there will be an automatic 10-point deduction and, perhaps of less relevance, an Embargo on player registrations.

“If administration is confirmed, as we have done previously, we would be looking to work with the administrators and would be looking for a very early meeting.”

Rangers announced they had agreed a deal to sign Gabon striker Daniel Cousin just as news emerged from the court.

    I see trees of green,

    red roses too.

    I see them bloom,

    for me and you.

    And I think to myself,

    what a wonderful world.

    I see skies of blue,

    And clouds of white.

    The bright blessed day,

    The dark sacred night.

    And I think to myself,

    What a wonderful world.

    The colors of the rainbow,

    So pretty in the sky.

    Are also on the faces,

    Of people going by,

    I see friends shaking hands.

    Saying, “How do you do?”

    They’re really saying,

    “I love you”.

    I hear babies cry,

    I watch them grow,

    They’ll learn much more,

    Than I’ll ever know.

    And I think to myself,

    What a wonderful world.

    Yes, I think to myself,

    What a wonderful world.

    Oh yeah.

If you were playing pass the parcel and Craig Whyte handed it to you, would you:

    Check the contents

Check it was actually his in the first place

    Check where he got it

Check if he paid for it

Or just defer all questions to the Administrator?

  15. Carrigan, great times indeed.

Gordon_J, funniest thing I’ve ever read here. You’ve been shared.

neveralone, the administrator can accept the liability without the decision or HMRC will hold things until the verdict.

  16. Who will be the first journo/pundit to say that this will be a good thing for Rangers?

    Bound to happen.

  17. I still remember the arrogance, the disrespect of the “for every fiver,” days. And yet it never rang true, the numbers never added up. In quiet moments i would fantasise that the truth would be uncovered and they would be shown for the crooks and cheats they were. In my innocent fantasy i dreamed they would be caught red handed bribing a ref or something as stupidly blatant as that. Never in my wildest dreams did I see this day coming. I am almost overcome with emotion. All their bluster, all their tainted titles all the cash they flashed like drunken sailors…….. counts for nothing now. God Bless Celtic and all associated with her…..

  18. The Good Ship Celtica. on

    Brilliant, brilliant day!

Well, there goes the phone again….

    TGSC,

    Sailing On….

  19. The Scottish champions have lodged what is known as “A Paper Of Part” – which is a notice of intention to appoint an administrator – at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

It is believed the Ibrox side now has five days in which to declare formally that administrators have taken over the running of the club.

Hope they don’t appoint one before Saturday so the bares can tear ibrox apart… :)
