Rangers liquidation unlikely within days

394

“However, no one should be in any doubt that in the absence of sufficient cost-cutting measures or receipt of substantial unplanned income, the Club will not be able to fulfil its fixtures throughout the remainder of the season.”

Statement from Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps.

Lots of speculation that this is the end.  I don’t think so.  Duff and Phelps have made practically no cuts for 23 days, it would be professional negligence for them to fail under these circumstances.  They must have enough cash available to pay rates, electricity, police, around 20 youth players and various small invoices between now and the end of the season.

Unless an event happens that has yet to manifest, they will almost certainly survive until the tax tribunal verdict.  It will not be pretty, and unless you are older than 35, it will not look like any Rangers you have known, but they will linger for a few weeks yet.

With Paul Murray saying that his consortium will put conditions on any offer to buy Rangers makes it mostly unlikely that any deal can be done let alone a quick deal. The fact of the matter is he is distanceing himself from the troubles but with his focus on Rangers 2012 new co.the only thing the administrators can do is to keep the club going for a little longer by making the required redundancies. The announcement today was a warning to the staff that redundancies are coming.I would still say the match on the 25th is very much in the balance.H.H.

  4. i was gonna watch the big bang theory, but the big bang on clyde is way much funnier, haha.

I would like to suggest that, as a solution to their problems, all those connected with RFC practise the Lenten disciplines of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. No, hold on a minute, the last one’s out for obvious reasons (they’ve nothing to give – they are the needy) and the first two are being practised as a result of their predicament; i.e. have been forced on them, not adopted freely and may not be valid. Forget it.

Goram stumbled over an indirect question to do with the contracts. He denied he had an EBT 2nd contract but didn’t really say he didn’t have something similar.

Thanks, I kind of heard that but was busy trying to find a way to get a msg to Clyde at the time, so wasn’t sure if I might have missed something.

Are these announcements by Duff & Phelps not just more delaying tactics?

They’re basically saying the club needs to be sold because the players didn’t agree wage cuts. They don’t want to get rid of players because then nobody would buy them. So they’re basically saying buyers have until Friday to put in an offer or else they’ll start to sack the players? Buying themselves another few days of doing nothing?

Is it just me or is that what’s happening?

Glad to hear it…maybe a similar fate to Jeff Winters site would be in order…I don’t see the need for a Rangers forum these days in any case !

  11. … “In view of this, we are faced with a situation of making redundancies within the playing staff on such a scale that would materially erode the value of the playing squad.

“We are striving to strike a balance where cost-cutting measures can be implemented but do not destroy the fabric of the playing squad to the extent that it will inhibit the prospect of a sale.”

  12. just flicked onto 971 bbc scotland, an article on about GERS – Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland – not making it up, so happy, so happy, so happy

  13. Why don’t they axe the big earners and play some of the youth players…would that not be common sense?

Are they so terrified of being torn apart by the uppity taigs in their own manky back yard that they are clawing onto the hope of keeping the big hitters?

Or are they hoping to fold before it even gets that far?

Do they hate us that much they would figuratively blow their own brains out rather than see us lord it over them at the hun hole?

Chick Young – “we need Sheikh wealth, we need Russian oligarch wealth, to take Rangers forward”

He is in a world of pain.

Don`t worry Chick – speak to Craig Whyte and he will reassure you that Stuart Henderson and Crackpot McDougall are about to step up and pay.

On Day 1 of Motherwell and Dundee entering administration managers Eric Black and Gordon Chisholm were dismissed and replaced with cheaper options from within the existing coaching staff.

I cannot believe that McCoist was not binned and replaced with McDowall or Durrant as soon as the administrators entered the Big Hoose.
