Rangers liquidation unlikely within days

394

“However, no one should be in any doubt that in the absence of sufficient cost-cutting measures or receipt of substantial unplanned income, the Club will not be able to fulfil its fixtures throughout the remainder of the season.”

Statement from Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps.

Lots of speculation that this is the end.  I don’t think so.  Duff and Phelps have made practically no cuts for 23 days, it would be professional negligence for them to fail under these circumstances.  They must have enough cash available to pay rates, electricity, police, around 20 youth players and various small invoices between now and the end of the season.

Unless an event happens that has yet to manifest, they will almost certainly survive until the tax tribunal verdict.  It will not be pretty, and unless you are older than 35, it will not look like any Rangers you have known, but they will linger for a few weeks yet.

I would doubt that, extremly bad publicity bashing wee Scotland, the last thing the Murdoch empire needs is more of that and isn’t Rupert a mate of Wee Alex?

  5. buy aberdeen and take rangers up there, aye aberdonians will have that in a minute, lol.

If Scotlands now sole representative in European football of a genuine professional standard is now Glasgow Celtic, the club that at once they couldnt even stand to call by its name, referring to them simply as ‘the Irish’, what does that say of Scotland?

Its an interesting thought, because what has happened yet again in this world is the one time indigenous people have been overtaken by the very people who entered into their country with nothing and were given nothing.

That indigenous supremecist mindset that thinks by simply thinking ‘we are better’ or in this case ‘we are the peepil’, that that is the actual case.

Meanwhile the world carries on and just over takes them without them even realising it was happening.

So here we are, 120 odd years later and ‘the irish’, the second class citizens not even worthy of naming are now YOUR shining light. They now represent YOU. The rest of the world now sees Celtic and see’s YOUR countries best.

How must that feel I wonder?

Could someone possibly copy and paste some of the guff being spouted on FF possibly!?

  7. It’s my wedding anniversary today, what to drink with the jelly and ice cream, cava, Celtic champers, vodka (St Petersburgs standard), Celtic FC whisky, coors or bud wae a tricoloured ribbon around the bottle, whit dae ye think Celts?

    :>)

  8. I`m dismayed at the comments on radio. It seems that a healthy debt free Rangers would be back after liquidation. We need a clean hands policy in Scottish football more than we need a new Rangers.

    Come on the Celts!

  9. So essentially the players will ultimately cause liquidation is that right?!

So, short of getting their hands on £3.6 million at the High Court (London) Duff and Phelps are still pinning their hopes on the players playing for less or even In McCullough’s case, for less than zero. As I understand it the rules re players in administration are actually different in Scotland than in England, in that Rangers players can be sacked whereas at Portsmouth 33 non-playing employees were sacked two weeks ago, with Trevor Birch hoping to get away with paying players less than their contracts. Duff and Phelps cannot agree a wage deferral with the players, because firstly it would increase the debt, and two the players will not agree to it. Wage cuts are the only short-term solution, but all the players need to agree, which they haven’t. Duff and Co cannot pay them, so they can and will walk away. Other workers will be sacked, possibly by Friday. And another thing, Duff and Co do not have a free run at the £3.6m, there are other claimants. As things stand the only way Rangers can get out of administration is either another takeover, or liquidation. In 1967 it was the Board of Trade who forced Third Lanark into liquidation, this time around it will by the players, or the HMRC.

  15. I’ve been trying to get on for an hour to ask the questions that are begging to be asked:

Good evening Andy, Did you and your pals ever have more than one contract at a time? Did ye get paid extra money under the table? I remember reading that when you were in court for drink driving, your wages were quoted as £1000 per week. That doesn’t sound like much for a pair of keepers like you, Does it Andy?

Where do they find these Celtic Supporters who don’t want rankers to go out of business???

Anybody on here feel like that??

To be honest, I’m having so much fun right now, I don’t want them to disappear just yet :)

  21. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Starry Plough I would prefer that they didnt go out of business as that is to easy for them to set up new co.I want them to agree to pay back all there creditors in full over the next 15 to 25yrs that would ensure HMRC cant there money back on Rangers are handicapped by these payments for the next 15 to 25 yrs.H.H.

  22. What delicious irony, that even their own cringe worthy silly slogan has come back to haunt them “We don’t do walking away”

Some high earners are clearly refusing to take dramatic wage cuts and as they don’t do walking away either, they are part of the entire eventual downfall of the big house of cards.

  23. Eyes Wide Open on

So the administrators have fast tracked the process for ‘quick sale’ now.

Well thats going to make a world of a difference.

Id say its almost as good as case being settled.

One wee puzzler – the fact the huns were up for sale for £1 for over a year hasnt seemed to enter into anyones factoring there.

Are they hoping a die hard Rangers fan will get 3 numbers up on the lottery on Saturday night !?!?!?!?!?

What if…… they announce they can’t fulfill their fixtures but only AFTER the split?

Points docking then just puts them 6th, not 12th. How does it work? Is this why they’re not letting players go yet, because they need to stagger on until the split?

  31. Where do they find these Celtic Supporters who don’t want rankers to go out of business???

I don,t want them to go out of business I want them to die (nice and slowly)never to be seen again
