Rangers Newco cause picked up by media

1266

The Daily Record today report: “Record Sport understands Rangers would fight tooth and nail against any move to impose more than the statutory 10-point penalty” in the event “the Ibrox side have to start again under a new name”, presumably if the existing company ceases to exist.

If the Record are, in fact, reporting Rangers’ position accurately, this is the first salvo in their campaign to gain control of the consequences of a corporate failure.

The Record go on to say: “Clubs who can’t exit administration by a CVA must hand over their assets to a new entity and after shares [in the SPL]are transferred to a new company agreement has to be reached with the SPL over a return to the top flight”.

The glaring observations from this aspiration is, of course, that agreement does not have to be reached with the SPL over a return to the top flight, and that clubs who cannot exit administration by a CVA (Creditors Voluntary Agreement) must dispose of their assets to the benefit of the unsecured creditors.

The debate is framed by the newspaper to suggest a range of outcomes of between 10-25 points is possible for Rangers Newco FC to pick-up the SPL shares and league position of the existing Rangers FC, with a 25 point deduction being wholly unpalatable to the new company.

There must be absolutely no presumption that a newly formed company, who happen to own Ibrox, are entitled to parachute into the SPL ahead of the current Scottish Football League members, or ahead of an existing SPL team in a relegation spot.  In the event of a club failure the league can and, if necessary, must complete the season with 11 teams only.

Scottish football cannot establish a system whereby an oligopoly can vote on a system which stiffs creditors and prejudices competitors outside of the oligopoly.  Football across the world is trying to clean up its reputation, we cannot allow Scotland to become a laughing stock.  Let your club know your feelings on how they should vote when the time comes. It’s time for fans of Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, St Mirren, Hibernian, Motherwell, Dunfermline and others to make their voices heard.

    Ian Archer’s words, so true.

A hun player walking along corridor in hotel in Barcelona in 1974 whistling the sash & billy boys. He is asked by a famous (catholic) journalist why he was singing/whistling they tunes & if he knew what they meant. His reply, ” no idea what they are, i only sing them because i hear our fans singing them”. Not much intellect in 1974 or present day.

    Agreed.

You could have also quite fairly pointed out how many set pieces fail to come to anything if he takes them.

Corners – no aim in particular, just in and around and hope for the best. Often hits the 1st man.

Free Kicks – very rarely finds a Celtic player. Quite often hits the 1st man, doesnt have any whip or angle which would trouble the defensive head meeting the ball.

Charlie Mulgrew took his 1st free kick – I accept I could be wrong on this because going by memory and dont have time to check; of the game va Kilmarnock for the equaliser and against Rennes for the equaliser.

Im not laying the blame squarely at his feet – his set pieces arent good enough, but he is asked to taken them I accept that.

The management have to carry the can for the same thing happening from game to game with no apparent or obvious attempts to change or improve an ineffective factor within a game of football, others consider as the next best thing to a goal…

  7. Have to concur about dropping Ki. He has been very poor of late. As my mate said to me, “he looks destined to be a good player in a great team”. He doesn’t have the game (or heart) to impose himself, as his talent should allow. He strolls through the game and never seems to control it, as he should be doing. Kayal, Ledley and Wanyama to start.

  8. Ki didnt have a rest in the summer. He was playing in the Asian Cup . He does look jaded just now but he is still our most expensive player .

  13. lionroars67 says:

I’ll concede that Ki has a Crosasian quality where he seems to be uninvolved in the nitty gritty of games. However, to say he doesn’t tackle is going over the score. He made a good few well-timed tackles in the Wednesday game, while his partner, despite attempting to get stuck in, came out of the tackles empty.

He’s our most effective central midfielder by far when it comes to creating and scoring goals. So why is his position under threat (in the eyes of many fans, at least)? If you’re a Kiite, it’s because he missed the party in January/February when Celtic went on their impressive run, and towards the end of the season (Inverness apart) – a case of bad timing. If you’re one of his doubters, it’s for the same reason, only this time his absence is the very thing that leads to a more dynamic midfield that made Celtic tick.

Instinctively, I have sympathies for the detractors’ viewpoint. If only Ki was just a bad player – it would make things easier to work out – but he isn’t. There lies the dilemma.

seen this response to the Forsyth Telegraph article, I doubt it will bee seen in the morning.

Good to see the heads still buried in the sand, so nothing happened today, that must be a relief.

That mad cap Irish journalist ? would that be the one who broke or investigated howmany is it now ??

    Rangers tax evasion practices ?

Sheriffs officers serving the writ at ibrox ?

Howmany ringfenced financial cases is it ?

    SFA’s sectarian practices ?

    SFA’s referee’s cheating and lying ?

Whats the problem with investigative journalism ?

I would have thought the Rangers support would have been thankful for the informaion about the financial issues at Ibrox, had they responded the same way the Celtic support responded in 1994 they could have ensured they did not have to live with the present uncertainty. But thats not how they operate is it. They demand dissention be silenced, even if the info is relevant to their future. Even now with the present self-inflicted issues surrounding them, they are lambasting journalists doing what journalists (outside scotland) do, investigate storys.

The EBT scandal has been in the pipeline for the last 4/5 years, I know people have been discussing it for that long, as it was brought to my attention then.

But in Scotland its a hear no evil see no evil society, especially when the second biggest institution in the country is the subject.

Right now their board are planning to find a way out of this present problem, without paying the HMRC single penny.

Thats the same club who are inviting 300 ex-servicemen for a charity event at Ibrox, I expect they could have better helped the ex-servicemen by paying their taxes on time and making sure those soldiers were properly equiped when they were in service, I mean is it any wonder ex-servicemen rely on charity when tax evasion is so rife in this country ?

Hypocrites and liars will always find a way to justify their misdeeds, the problem today is they no longer have editorial power.

    Long live the free press.

Good Morning to the Celtic Family from a wet Central Scotland. If it is true that Lennie has told PaddyMcCourt he will have to be patient ( News now Celtic ) that in my opinion is another bit of bad management I am not a McCourt fan but the guy must have the patience of a saint the amount of time he has waited for a run in the team. I said he was a weak tackler

Recently Wanyama and Ledley (correct position) have been our most effective midfielders

Kayal hasn’t played to the level he showed 2nd half last season, but then who has

Its all about opinions i prefer a more balanced consistent midfield which Wanyama, Kayal and Ledley would offer, we need a strong spine, we concede far to many goals in the SPL

  21. As we are in team selection mode, this is the one which would give me most confidence of a victory:

    Forster

    Wilson Rogne Mulgrew Matthews

    Wanyama

    Forrest Kayal Ki Ledley

    Stokes

This is the one that would have me thinking we could win by a barrowload (but maybe draw!) :

    Forster

    Matthews Rogne Mulgrew El Kadouri

    Forrest Kayal McCourt Ledley

    Hooper Stokes.

  27. Vinibhoy- Aberdeen at 13/2 is too good to let pass without a small wager, (emphasis on the small).
