Rangers relax BBC ban when cash is at stake

953

Rangers today relaxed their ban on the BBC, issued after a documentary with contributions from two former Rangers directors was screened last month.  The BBC booked a paying gig at Ibrox for this afternoon’s game against Dundee United, if Rangers stuck to their principles they would have missed a media payment from the SPL.

Tune in to BBC Scotland this afternoon and listen to the sound of licence payers’ money strut its stuff from Ibrox.

I have a nephew who is a producer with the BBC. Guess what he takes his holidays at this time of the year because he refuses to wear one. The two men to whom I referred were told “No poppy no appearance on TV”.

If there was freedom to choose I would respect the individual’s decision to wear or not to wear.

Jesus Christ – Bolo Zenden is training with us.

Thats exactly what we need – a Kris Commons type clone, from 6 years ago. An ‘attacking midfielder’, lacking in height and physicality who wont put in much of a shift defensively.

He is 35 at this stage.

I mean, jesus christ if thats where we are at with trying to salvage this season – we may as well all just stay at home

  15. Sounds like the protest was a very quiet affair…!

Members of a Rangers supporters’ club have staged a protest outside BBC Scotland’s headquarters.

The demonstration, organised by Vanguard Bears, was held over claims that the BBC has been “biased” in its reporting about Rangers FC.

A statement on the group’s website says the corporation “targets” Rangers with “negative propaganda”, and that the protest was held in response to a recently-aired documentary about the club’s chairman Craig Whyte, which they claim was “a vindictive hatchet job”.

Last month, Rangers withdrew all co-operation with the BBC ahead of the programme, BBC Scotland Investigates: Rangers The Inside Story, describing it as “little more than a prejudiced muckraking exercise”.

However, the BBC strongly rejected claims of bias against the club and insisted the content of the documentary was accurate and in the public interest. BBC Scotland have said they stand by the investigation which was produced “according to our rigorous editorial standards on fairness, accuracy and impartiality”.

Vanguard Bears said the demonstration was also in response to the “inappropriate editing” of an interview with manager Ally McCoist.

The group’s website states: “Enough is enough and it’s now time to unite together and show the BBC that we will not tolerate their actions any longer.”

They gathered at the BBC’s building at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, and handed in a letter of complaint about alleged unfair coverage. Some held banners which said: “Biased British Corporation”.

A spokeswoman for BBC Scotland said: “We received a letter of complaint from a group of Rangers supporters and we will respond in due course.”

Strathclyde Police said they attended the protest and that it had remained peaceful throughout.

  16. Those advocating that we should have signed Jelavic are not factoring in the mib help in his potency.

Have CEltic ever had a player booked for headbutting opponent in front of ref?

Do Celtic players get same treatment from refs for diving?

Are Celtic players allowed to challenge opponents defenders and get benefit of most calls?

I see and hear what you say and can see some merit in all you scribe.. Howevva, I reckon Big Sammi Dreep has been played outa position all this time. His place is on the wing, no as a strika, which he isnae. The guy works his bahookey off on every game, track back, sweats his cahones aff for the Celtic cause. How many of our squad do that though> No many I’d wager.

I’m not trying to start a Sammi fan club but credit where it’s due.

  26. re Jelavic and PL

Jelavic is a good player …many on here marked him as such …why we didn`t try to sign him i`ve no idea …he would even have fitted our profile of buying to sell
