Rangers, streetwalkers of football, face their deadline

778

There’s something undignified at the shenanigans at Ibrox right now.  Despite being under no pressure to pay the disputed tax demand, Rangers are tarting around their top player in a desperate attempt to raise money.

After the Plus Stock Exchange suspended dealing in their shares the club stated it would produce overdue accounts for season 2010-11 around the end of this month, which coincides with the end of the transfer window.  Any auditor needs to be in a position to state that the company has enough cash to be considered a going concern before he would be in a position to sign-off the accounts.  Rangers are now in a desperate bid for cash as their self-imposed (late) date to provide shareholders with statutory information has arrived.

Claims were made that a front-loaded war-chest was made available to Ex-Rangers manager, Ally McCoist (still too early?  Hmmmm) at the start of the season and it was subsequently suggested that a £9m bid was rejected for Nikica Jelavic, but now the same player is available for a fraction of that sum – available for cash, that is.

McCoist kept their season alive but as reality dawn and Neil Lennon’s Celtic turned up the heat, his challenge abated.

The trusty old media, for so long a crutch throughout Rangers rather unique history, are set to desert the White Star Line’s most famous vessel.  The day draws near.

  1. And the Jelavic fee goes to the man in the corner in the bowler hat.

£2m owed to HMRC. £31m borrowed from Close with no prospect of paying the loan back, £1m owed to Hearts, and then theres the big bill.

Its enough to make you chuck off your brown brogues and run for the perthshire estate

Thank youwas not sure if it was him im jumping about like Whyte from court to court.

I smell Murray behind this though not his money but he amazingly still has succulent friends in the laptop loyal.

No to Newco but them with no titles no trophies and NO HISTORY is a good position for us to be in before the endgame fight begins.

I had countenanced that possibility BUT….

Most players have agents that are well informed and having seen Ranger’s farcical behaviour around Goodwillie, Sandaza, Jorge Claros, Jaager, the cheap offer to the S. African Tshabalala etc; how does it advantage Mervan Cellik to be out of a club that cannot honour its financial commitments to him and then he finds that most clubs he could go to have already formed their rosters for the remainder of the season.

Seems very risky and reckless to me.

Skysports did many honest mitakes tonight. None Russian clubs are interested in none Celtic players. I checked that one hour ago. I don’t need google translator to make research on Russian websites. There is only Skysports echo, nothing more.

  9. Zaragoza have terminated juarez’s contract and he is returning to celtic, although apparently a mexican club has offered a swap deal

Jockulus, buffering doesn’t happen in Scotland if you have a good internet connection. You could be suffering high latency between Aus and Scotland.

NorthAntrimBhoy, every now and then I read a Celtic fan wanting to raise a quorum for self-destruction, although they don’t realise it’s quite like that.

Oh, another thing I might mention about Celtic TV, is that the relentless pro-Celtic commentary is great for the soul :o)

  18. Rangers have reached a verbal agreement with Everton for the sale of striker Nikica Jelavic.

STV has learned the striker will now hold talks over personal terms and undergo a medical with the English Premier League club, after a package in excess of £5m was accepted.

Negotiations were conducted between the respective chairmen of both clubs, Craig Whyte and Bill Kenwright, on Monday.

  19. Where can I get one of those Rangers 2012 season tickets? They must be worth more than face value by now due to the rarity of those artefacts.

  20. Thanks for the brilliant job Andrew.

I just can’t understand why they are not reacting a lot more to the fact they could be about to go out of business for good as Rangers. It is almost as if they are onside about going down the newco route and are happy to do it.

They must be punished fully if they go down this route, when the tax case proves they cheated all these years, and the first thing has to be the stripping of ALL the titles they have financially doped.

Celtic (the players and the management team) have to just keep winning every game and forget all about Mordor, we need to improve to give us the best possible chance of getting into the CL proper this year.

  21. All we need now is Jellylegs to say ” Erm Am i not due a payoff as I didnt ask for a transfer”

  22. Does anyone think anybody at FF or VB will issue an YOUS WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG MISTER TIMMY apology any time soon. :)))))))

Naaaaaaa i dont either. TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

  23. If what is being rumoured is true, then whyte used the sales of season tickets for the next three years to borrow

the 18 million overdrft cash he used to pay off the bank debt,

He has never planned on a future for rangers, just a big bet he could win tax case.

    They’ll need replacements.

  25. There seems much jubilation in on-line timland. My phone can’t quite pinpoint the source of the joy. If its the forward sale of season ticket money isn’t that known already – or is it only a new media fact?

Why should this even be such a bombshell? Didn’t the hun sell a catering contract earlier in the season to meet short term liabilities?

Are these new facts or is it just the fact that the old media runs with them that gets everybody excited?

Mystery to me but…truth be told, if I’m being brutally honest and NOT lying to you… There are signals companies send out and being 200% honest with you. I’d honestly say that the huns, financially, look sound as a pound. And that aint word of a lie, I tell you.

  26. JimmyQuinnsBits on

    AngelGabriel,

too true… the demise is only phase 1, after that we’ll need to fight like hell against the clamour for the new them to be re-instated into the SPL – its goin to be messy.

However, I’ve been waitin for phase 1 for a long long time, and back in the days before Fergus, could never have believed it would happen. A tenner for every fiver, the hearse outside the ground, a bank ready to close us for what would now be deemed a pittance. And all through that the arrogant WATP sneers and the lapdog press. Tom English got it right for me, I will be delighted when it happens – but before he gets too smug he might want to consider why I feel that way, do a wee bit of objective research, and get some integrity before its too late, instead of toadying up to discredited journalists like Jabba.

  27. Did I imagine that Phils site had a headline along the lines of ‘why did it take so long’? Seems to have vanished?
