Rangers? That wasn’t even a Basket of Assets

891

They can call themselves whatever insolvency practitioners allow them to be called, but even the court assertion, that Charles Green bought a Basket of Assets, not a football club, seems overly optimistic. That lot look more like a Basket of Liabilities than assets.

I told you Joey Barton was a good Celtic man, there to take their money, and self-respect. Their big former Arsenal centre half is four years younger than our big former Arsenal centre half, but good grief! You could forgive him for being short of pace, but acting like an immature simpleton is unforgivable.

Moussa Dembele’s Perfect Hat-trick (one with the head, one with the right, one with the left), was a charm. We watched Henrik give us so much, he deserved to score a hat-trick against Oldco Rangers, but the history book was closed on that one with Harry Hood’s in the League Cup in 43 years ago.

I have witnesses to saying “We’ll have to settle for five instead of seven”, when hearing Leigh Griffiths would miss out today. Dembele (20), put in a performance which defied his inexperience. He looked like the £20m player some think we’ve signed. What’s more, he’ll continue to improve.

Tom Rogic had clearly been identified as our most dangerous creative player. He was hacked throughout, before retiring early in the second half. Scott Brown and Nir Bitton were also on top of their game, controlling the crucial central area.

Both full backs, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney, got assists, as they created width to allow the central players to do their stuff.

Brendan Rodgers will hopefully highlight that the only two attempts on goal we conceded came a moment after we scored, near the end of each half. Teams notoriously lose concentration after scoring.

I’m off to find out who their no. 4 was. I’ve him down for two assists on his own. Liabilities, to a man – the keeper apart, who did well.

  1. Starry Plough,

I reckon if the Jambos equalise then that puts Sevco 6th. Even then it flatters them. HH

  2. If Moussa turns out anywhere near our hat trick Heroes against the Old Rangers (Harry Hood and Stevie ) we will have found a real Gem. I’m. Walking on air ,Brendan instills a confidence which I’m sure we will continue to improve we now have goals from so many options , also pleased for Armstrong to get some game time in his best position but Rogic will take some shifting. HH

  3. Great atmosphere today. Constant singing, and encouragement for the team.

Great funny moments shushing the Huns and ten Ha-Ha-ing them.

Even the (usually annoying) huddle was fun!

  4. Just watched the interview with Warburton. Claiming Lustig should have been sent off for the block on McKay. Which happened in their half I believe. Yet Lustig wasn’t booked in the whole game (according to LiveScore). So did they want a straight red for an innocuous fou?

  5. Aye start a new page without telling me. I’ve been posted funnies on the the old thread for last 20 minutes.

  6. Routine win in Parkers.

Fantastic support for Celtic and as professional a performance you’re unlikely to see.

Delighted for Dembele in particular and what an astute signing he’s proving to be. Team selection went as expected and no surprise Brendan’s signings are paying off with just four games gone, and Sinclair has scored in every start.

Tom Rogic and Scott Brown bossed the midfield especially in the first half and the goals rained in on rANGERs who were even more rank than their sinister corralled support.

It took Celtic no time at all to show that ‘the humping’ was on, as James Forrest collected all the good wide balls and Celtic stretched Sevco from the k.o. from flank to flank .

With the first decent Sinclair delivery Dembele spelled predator stealing in with a timed run to nod home, then he embarrassed Sendahorse who was left like a Devon Loch, as Celtic’s young striker didn’t bother to change feet but did a Jamesie with the outside of his right boot.

The second half was a procession towards the Gallowgate end, three more excellent goals, songs, singing, dancing and slagging magic hats.

Happy days and special thanks to The great Battered Bunnet.

    M.O.M Moussa Dembele

p.s. neat work by the Dalmarnock fleg removal team

Second half late on that block, they got a foul and their bench was doing their nut.

Warburton has always been a classless oink, funny he pitched up at Bad Loser FC:)))

He has a long long long way to go to be a football manager…

  8. No CQN pics today from Celtic Park – still waiting on our pass for the excellent Geo being approved.

You will see great pics in The Sun, Daily Record etc.

Thanks to Hearts and St Johnstone for granting us our usual access.

“Leigh who” was the smart comment from the interviewer Shanley, BR told him twice dont be disrespectful Leigh Griffiths is a great player and we are lucky to have Moussa Dembele.

Warburton sure has spent too much time at the Hunnery.

Deny & deflect, it is what they been doing for over 100 years. I don’t like to use this expression but it’s a Mental Disorder.

    the season continues well

a team came to get a draw and we stuck to a plan despite an injury to our leading goalscorer and a very well taken goal by thems

    their simulation was appalling

well done gollum for not thomsoning the hand ball which denied a goal scoring opportunity

again, well done the team for coping with different quarters of the game and applying themselves throughout

    windass made many good runs

the subs were fab particularly sa who found space, ran and made space at a time when we needed it

    tanner oh tanner, the pain

    so happy

  12. I don’t care where the huns end up tonight but the current results in the league would do me just fine, Hearts one down and Sheep 1-1 and all that with a game in hand the league could be finished by the end of October:))

He was booked in the second half. I posted something similar about Warburton that he didn’t mention Kranjcar was lucky to make it to half time nor did he mention the antics of Garner.

  14. I thought watching the game today, who would ever want to employ Warburton as a manager after watching his team with not one ounce of professionalism amongst them with their diving and hacking throughout. That team and theur manager are an utter disgrace!

Well done Brendan and the bhoys today!

  15. I know Barney but the game died a death shortly after he came on. Roberts in full flow is a delight to watch and we never saw that today.

On a side note, Aberdeen, Ross County and Dundee can all go above Rangers 2012 with a win today and all 3 are drawing at home

  16. Been out to the East End of Glasgow all afternoon (not, unfortunately to Celtic Park) and that is me just back in. I have never seen so many Celtic jerseys in Largs.

All I want to say, before I sit down to savour the match, is well done Celtic and thank you, thank you, thank you.

  17. Dessybhoy,

Thanks, Brendan already got the measure of these numpties. He knew what the headlines would most likely be if he laughed and jokingly agreed.

  18. Warburton made a clown of himself moaning about the Lustig foul. It could have been a booking on another day but to my knowledge Lustig hadn’t been booked previously. Warburton made so many mistakes today with his team selection and during the match, he’s makes Deila look like Pep.

  19. I will summarise my posts on the previous thread. Brendan was immense. Barton is a fanny, Weir is a fanny, Sendhimof is a fanny. Warbs is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

  20. Delighted with the result against the fledgling team as I would be delighted about putting 5 past any team. Watched the first half and we were brilliant. I couldn’t comment on the second half due to the amount of buffering on my Firestick, a regular night time problem here in Brunei.

Just watched the Hat’s post match interview – a bit like a grumpy Jim Jefferies if you ask me. As for Garner he is defo made for the huns.

Anybody, myself included, doubting Dembele was made to eat humble pie today. I now think he just wasn’t fit when he joined us.

russ abbott complaining , he is a nugget, over-rated muppet, baldy bain non-entity.

they need to keep him all season.

    links to goals anyone ?

  23. Sky said before the kick off punters had spent 8 million on bets for the game. So as well as getting humped on the pitch a lot of unhappy Huns will be hurting in the pocket too.

Unless of course they used their heads and backed us, unlikely though, ;-)

  24. I hope, but I know it wont, that the display from Broony and Biton today will shut a few people up.

People wth a closed mind, that cant see in front of their own narrow outlook on players.Absolutely ran the show today.Barton a sad pathetic site during the game,as Broony dictated everything, won tackles, got forward, intercepted passes.Biton,in total cruise control.Him and Rogic formed a beautiful little parnership today, they could not handle.

Brendan knows what he has, thank God.

If you go back to page 13 or 14 of the match thread there’s good links for all the goals

  26. Highlight for me was Brendan slapping down the sky interviewer who asked Leigh who ? A man with gravitas totally in control of his situation not afraid to tell sky to piss off.

If he was booked, what was it for and was it before or after the ‘foul’?

  29. In no way am I comparing Brendan to Jock but both were 42 years of old when they became manager of Celtic
