Rangers? That wasn’t even a Basket of Assets

891

They can call themselves whatever insolvency practitioners allow them to be called, but even the court assertion, that Charles Green bought a Basket of Assets, not a football club, seems overly optimistic. That lot look more like a Basket of Liabilities than assets.

I told you Joey Barton was a good Celtic man, there to take their money, and self-respect. Their big former Arsenal centre half is four years younger than our big former Arsenal centre half, but good grief! You could forgive him for being short of pace, but acting like an immature simpleton is unforgivable.

Moussa Dembele’s Perfect Hat-trick (one with the head, one with the right, one with the left), was a charm. We watched Henrik give us so much, he deserved to score a hat-trick against Oldco Rangers, but the history book was closed on that one with Harry Hood’s in the League Cup in 43 years ago.

I have witnesses to saying “We’ll have to settle for five instead of seven”, when hearing Leigh Griffiths would miss out today. Dembele (20), put in a performance which defied his inexperience. He looked like the £20m player some think we’ve signed. What’s more, he’ll continue to improve.

Tom Rogic had clearly been identified as our most dangerous creative player. He was hacked throughout, before retiring early in the second half. Scott Brown and Nir Bitton were also on top of their game, controlling the crucial central area.

Both full backs, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney, got assists, as they created width to allow the central players to do their stuff.

Brendan Rodgers will hopefully highlight that the only two attempts on goal we conceded came a moment after we scored, near the end of each half. Teams notoriously lose concentration after scoring.

I’m off to find out who their no. 4 was. I’ve him down for two assists on his own. Liabilities, to a man – the keeper apart, who did well.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed our performance today and that was a very convincing victory. It felt different though, I didn’t have the same knots in the stomach and anxiety I felt when oldco came calling. It was different. Celtic made a statement on the pitch today blasting away the Level 5 spin and the ‘magic hat’ propaganda; the new club’s foundations are built upon sand. If they hang about they better get used to a lifetime of mediocrity.

After watching Sevco’s Back line I now know why Warburton was photographed with the loyalist band last week:he must have hoped to sign a couple of the Shankill Rd defenders.

  2. Hoop hoop hooray,

The broadcast and printed press, the SFA, the SPFL all say it. And one of the last Two maintain the records of Scottish professional football league and cup matches.

And when they lie, it really does matter.

You are forgiven for your article this morning, Paul67 …. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  4. Anyway,

I want to celebrate our skelping of the new club with identity problems. Hopefully, it will shut them up for a while and keep blue and green trolls off the blogs for some time, at least.

    Your stance is admirable.

No beef with that at all.

However we all know the myth. There is no point in debating or reasoning with them.

    I just laugh at them.

    Its all they deserve

    Works for me,

  6. Gftb Agree today was not just another game. It was less than a game. In fact it was a farce of a game. That was by far the poorest opposition we have played this season. Hh

  7. Celtic smash Sevco; Sevconians smash toilets.

    Just about sums them up.

That will be another bill arriving at Ibrokes and questions have to be asked of Police Scotland yet again. It’s time we withheld their money. Do they not enter the toilets in case they spot off duty colleagues doing a spot of DIY plumbing?

  8. 5 goals today were the result of excellent passes if we count the corner.

    1-Sinclair to Dembele at corner

2-Bitton to Dembele after a good interception.

3- Dembele to Sinclair the best of them all

4-Lustig to Dembele over the shrinking Barton.

5-Tierney to Armstrong with a great cut back

Special mention to Sinclair who although was not as busy on the ball created so much space with his off the ball movement.

Routine win against newly-promoted team playing their first season in the top league.

Sevco still on schedule for their 55 points target, so everybody happy. Although they are now closer to second bottom than top. No doubt Dave King’s planned January spend will address that.

Now onto our important game this week.

Always felt I jinxed us, daft I know but I just got the yips about them, and hated witnessing their wins even when we outplayed them. I even stopped going to the derby games as I hated how poisonous it and I became.

Daft for a supposedly grown up guy to be so superstitious but can’t shake it.

  12. In my local after the match the blue corner were in a deep depression as reality had finally dawned, there was no need for gloating as they tore apart Glib and Shameless and Magic Hat. Barton is also an undercover Tim undermining them.

You’d be struggling to raise a three man quiz team out of the lot of them.

The free juke box offered some light relief though…

  14. Owen – I had a superstition against the old club. I noticed half way through I’d broken it. Made no difference to the game. Absolute proof that they are a new club!! FACT

ROY – I meant the post at 7.05

The last one was good too…

  15. I’ve just watched the game again.

    Well you would, wouldn’t you?

It’s nice in retrospect to be able to stop and rewind.

The 5th goal is a thing of beauty.

We started on the left side of defence deep in our half.

Some quick passes in the middle then swept out to Lustig on the right.

    Forward down the right.

Into the middle and then down the left with Sinclair and Tierney.

Cut back into the middle for Armsteong to score.

I counted 15 passes but I wouldn’t quibble if anyone corrects me.

  16. Police Scotland are not interested in taking on a mob, they gather film and trace them later, make of that what you will, I do not think its Policing and dogs should be used at games as the damage done is nothing new

Sevco right out of their depth today.

I went on hun media after the game and it was bitter.disturbing and hilarious in equal measure.

The odd reasonable supporter gets a verbal beating if they post anything rational.

  19. Has not even one of you got in your hearts to ask, maybe, just maybe, THEY have suffered enough?

    Me neither.

  20. Dessy – when rangers minded people tell you police Scotland are still riddled with masons we aren’t surprised that they don’t want to tackle their storm troopers

  21. They are by far the worst team we have played thos season.

They are even in denial about the toilets…. From some Sevco fan site..

“That image of the wreckage (along with the other one of cubicles on the net), must show the driest post-game vandalised toilet in history.

I think I’d be questioning the truth in it”

  23. FAN-A-TIC

Yeah, they call you a bad name and threaten you if you try to have a voice of reason or contract a conversation, that doesn’t have the F or C word in it. Glad we have this place. They really are horrible lot.
