I know that was your point my badly worded post is trying to relate that those, for their own personal reasons, are dithering or waiting to see what comes next before parting with heard earned cash (we def didn’t get anywhere near value for money for our investment, and I don’t mean results )

PL gets plaudits from some for what I don’t know, everything is built on us buying in and purchasing season books en masse, sponsorships are won on our reputation not his what exactly has he done where you could say PL done that ? Stand up for supporters, call out the sfa or cheating hun refs, I could go on, what he achieved is off the sweat of someone else’s brow.

So Celtic will always be with you but that doesn’t mean you’ll part with your cash for the promise of magic beans

How on earth did we get into this position ???

  3. ERNIE LYNCH @ 8:12?

And I’m not concerned with what happens to Scottish football.

    ‐‐——————

Had I known that was your overall view then I shouldn’t have answered your long & detailed post.

The well-being of Celtic is wholly dependent Scottish football staying relevant and functioning well. It offers a gateway to European competition.

Some clubs in the lower divisions did see an upturn in revenue due the Ibrox travelling support. However most importantly the TV contracts stayed in place because the broadcasters knew that the Ibrox club would return – there was also the novelty value of broadcasting their games at small lower league grounds.

There is no reasonable defence that can be mounted regarding the conduct of the old club. However as long as football is played in Scotland, there will be some kind of “Rangers’ – their constituency and fan base guarantees it.

If ever there was an independent Scotland, that constituency & fan base will also ensure a strong political voice.

  4. We are clueless and spinless: let’s hope tomorrow is the start of becoming celtic again.

  5. PB-Ernie

It is what it is, and it’s been staring us in the face for long enough, what did we do, eff all as a support got fat when gorging on the jelly etc, the board got richer, nobody but ourselves to blame sadly

    ……………….

    Ernie

I will be proven right as you well know

  6. GO TELL THE SPARTIM

i accept the Politics of Celtic now and in the past have been at best questionable

but at the end of the day when the new season starts wherever we may be season ticket holder or not We will be in this tussle hook line and sinker all the way unexplainable it’s just the way we are

    good night and god bless

  7. An addendum to my 9:12 post.

If anyone was in any doubt that “money talks’ in football – they need only read the news of the Big 12 European Super League.

Just as there is no coherent economic policy for a separate Scotland – there is also no coherent economic future for a top football league in Scotland without the ‘big two’.

Put simply – over time and given access to EPL-type money, the big two could hold their own in that league. I’m afraid all other SPFL Premier clubs would lucky to survive in the 3rd/4th tier in England.

    Absolutely true

  9. Season ticket demand will be halved as we speak and decline further the longer it takes to make a significant change. I’m expecting multiple announcements this week to reinvigorate potential and much needed season ticket demand

  10. Rankers would fare better in the EPL than us simply because they reinvest all of their income and MORE on first team ready players. We, on the other hand, pussyfoot about with “projects”

Can you imagine our board being awarded £100m+ each year without taking a healthy cut for themselves?

  11. prestonpans bhoys on

That board has to go before anyone renews their ST’s, they are the problem and Bankier number one target

  12. Last post for a while. The idea of not buying a season book is not one I agree with. I get the reasoning. But when we need to throw everything at the team next season and then some it seems like cutting off noses to spite faces. Desmond will respond as capitalist billionaires (there is no other type!) respond- cutting costs. We need to be collectively smarter in fighting them. This isn’t 1994.

I haven’t had a SB in a long long time. I may be in a financial position for the first time in said long time to buy one. If I can I will. And until someone points out a better way than that offered by the Celtic trust I will continue to pay into the purchase of fan owned shares.

Perhaps some kind of fan summit is required, plans of action drawn up and strategy worked out. But withholding season book money is an actvif collective self harm in my opinion.

  13. NORRIEM

We got into this position through short-sightedness and appointing “a safe pair of hands ” as manager for the quest of the 10.

Instead of concentrating on the long term bigger picture.

But hey, roll on next season with a rebuild. HH

  14. I suspect the break away league leak tonight is a last minute effort by some clubs to pressure UEFA into further concessions regarding the CL restructure announcement due tomorrow.

There’s no doubt our major shareholder will be greedily eying an invite to what remains of the EPL should this news actually come about.

  15. 31003 on 18TH APRIL 2021 10:16 PM

Rankers would fare better in the EPL than us simply because they reinvest all of their income and MORE on first team ready players.

    -‐————–

Would you swap squads? Or fiscal positions with them? First team ready but a first team that our squad with a team shape that didn’t ship stupid goals would have wiped the floor with.

If this is not their equivalent of a ‘centenary season oasis in a desert of barren seasons’ I will eat my hat very publicly.

  16. Our body language from the off was shite Dont care if i dont see the majority of that team in a Celtic shirt again especially Eduardo. He should have been pumped out our club a long time ago when he first downed tools.christie is the same..his attitude stinks.kenny and laxalt are woeful.moi only turned uo for 2nd half..hes a conman who’l make millions out of game without givin much back.calmac ffs..was our matchwinner under Rodgers..runs about now doing heehaw.

We’re no way better than them JK..just like theres no way your gettin job..if you do we’re well and truly pumped.

    Apologies

15-20K season book sales next season, based on:

    – folk won’t pay for another season of non-attendance

    – many won’t have the money

    – many are sickened by the wilful negligence of this season

    – the complete absence of a coherent future vision

    – no ‘10’ to sell

    – the prospect of continued hun dominance

-the continuing reek of plc complicity in a rigged game that’s ‘good for business’

    – the contempt the plc has demonstrated for this ‘customers’ thus season and the resulting resentment and division

Wouldn’t have Dom McKay’s poisoned chalice even for fat cat Lawwell’s money. If that guy can turn this shit show around before the huns leave us in the dust HE will deserve a statue outside Celtic Park.

As it is, whilst the Tory absentee landlord continues to run things the culture will remain rotten and disconnected from the real people and communities Celtic draw their support from.

    Celtic Mac

I’m an expert in arithmetic. Got 100% in my O Grade. I can count really expertly. I make it 26 wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats this season.

In 4 fames against the huns we have 1 draw (in the only dead rubber) and 3 losses. We gave racked up 1 goal and conceded 6 – two of which we scored for them.

We have lost home and away to Riss County and to Sparta Prague Reserves.

I really should have stuck at the counting – by now I could have been Celtic’s Director of Football picketing £3M bonuses for mediocrity.

  22. Celtic Mac

Apologies if not directed at myself

No an expert in anything but even i could see at the laboured way we started the game, half hearted attempts at winning the looseball, that we were not pumped for a tough match.give JK his due he got a change in attitude in the 2nd half but why were we not ready from the off. To me Moi likes the easy life and for a guy who on his day is probably our most gifted player its not good enough.JK is good post match ,he talks a good game, but we need more from a coach.

  23. peterslatchfordsbelly

You got 100% percent in your ‘O’ Grade in Arithmetic? Did ye aye?

Which country did you achieve those qualifications and grades?

See the thing is, I do remember achieving ‘Ordinary’ grade in Arithmetic…

in Scotland. Never got the examination papers back though….

So never did find out how I actually did percentile wise.

That said, full marks to you!

  24. drew1967

Might have been using a wee bit satire there.

I thought Eddie really did put a fair bit of effort in today, came back into his own half trying to win the ball on more than one occasion…. didnt work out for him today. And the Griff should have taken the penalty!

  25. 12 clubs confirmed for the super league with 3 to follow. Seems the Germans have told them to stuff it. One assumes PSG will be involved. Wonder who the other 2 will be.

  26. Celtic Mac just pissed off mate.total downer after that.had to go out to work after it to make it worse

Just watched highlights there. In a nutshell poor defending at goals and terrible finishing.

  27. Welsh looked as though had a club foot when he hit the ball the wrong way from four yards.
