Happy to report i opted to walk rather than watch the game, hard to be angry at this stage, half expected these days. I am happy we have so many players heading to the end of loans and contracts as it should free up wages to push ahead with a decent rebuild.

I don’t buy into the stuff about taking time to build a winning team. If howe is the new manager he will need backed and if backed we go into the market to purchase the best frees we can get alongside the best players we can afford and things can turn about quickly. our focus should be on signing proven players with experiences unless we can pull in quality young players of the dembele standard.

Lots of talk about the boards comitment, that will soon be put to the test. Sevco’s board showed this season what it meant to them, do our board have the same commitment or are they as soft as the current players????

What did you expect from Forrest in Today’s game?

    absolutely nothing

    ——————————————

fair enough you are not his biggest fan however

“he epitomises what is wrong with the squad and the first team” ??

Yep, he has embarrassed the hoops consistently since he signed on youth terms at the age of 13

Was fortunate to fluke 90 odd goals in almost 300 appearances, rated by at least 4 decent managers

Consistently agitated for a move from Celtic, changing agents at every opportunity

Rarely out of the papers as his lifestyle ran out of control.

James and his ilk are the type of wasters we should be hunting out of our club.

  3. Board showed commitment with spending money and investing in squad. They made an erchie of it by not binning Lennon when it was clear to all that things were heading south. That said some of these players are an absolute disgrace to their so called profession – get new man in, get the players that want to go out even if it is all of them. Better to start from ground zero than continue with those that are not willing to put their body on the line for us.

“21 points behind Rangers. That will never happen again” Martin O’Neill June 2000.

Its even worse than that now.

The next manager must be ruthlessly professional and be able to operate (within the agreed budget) unhindered.

Time for government legislation for Clubs to be fan owned including Celtic.

To many football clubs are robbing their supporters.

  6. onenightinlisbon on

The sheysters who occupy the seats on the Celtic board see the supporters as nothing more than cash cows. They have zero respect for us and have completely different hopes and aspirations to us. The only thing that matters to them is the glorious balance sheet. However we are facing the most perilous times since we sacked John Barnes and brought in Martin.

The next move they make will have a huge significance for years to come, surely they must appoint someone with the same stature as MON or Rodgers?

  7. It’s very sad to watch our club plummet to the depths we are at when so far ahead lawell got lot to answer for should have buried them but chose to lie down no doubt him an Bankier will be hobknobing with their masters in asbestos dome then jump on to their parks of Hamilton bus job done sickening

im not blaming the players themselves.

to a large extent you cant really help your height and build etc

im not built to be a boxer but i dont lose sleep over it

i dont give a shit if anyone is to blame for that or not

    its not the point

our squad has far too many lightweights

we get swatted aside in europe by teams that have a fraction of our budget

and as soon as sevco sign some players we have no answer to them either

we need to change the make up of our squad

we need physically bigger fitter and more athletic players, and lots of them

you get away with a squad like that against virtually every other team in scotland

    but in europe – no

and this season against sevco – no

  9. ernie lynch on

Does anyone else have a feeling of unease about the McKay appointment?

That it’s all going to be business as usual rather than an innovative, fresh thinking new broom?

It just seems a bit too easy and convenient, not quite an in house recruitment, but not exactly an arms length one either.

Better to start from ground zero than continue with those that are not willing to put their body on the line for us.

    ……….

Lennon was the cheap option and the lack of professionalism we are seeing is off the back of that appointment. It has cost us.

Comittment to thier own ego kept lennon in post longer than should have been the case.

The Board showed commitment to the balance sheet when the opted to sell elhammed and frimpong in january leaving us with a 3rd choice Everton fc fullback.

They showed commitment to signing lots of project players in the hope of flipping o e or two for a profit over signing established players whose best value is on the pitch.

In a pandemic we are likely the only club in the uk that will show only a moderate loss in year end accounts, again to protect the balance sheet.

Players have been a disgrace this season and would never have been so poor had Dan’s been in the stadium.

Also once a players wants out we should simply get the best offer and sell on and move on rather than hold them. Poor commitment from good players will never beat full commitment from average players.

What a pathetic shower of shite our club has been this season.

The fans told them it wasn’t working after Ferencvaros. They ignored us. We told them again after the first derby. They told us Lennon was “a winner”. We screamed it at them after the disaster of November/early December. They built fences, called in the police and briefed against their own “entitled” fans in The Sun.

The same guys that took us for mugs, pulling on our heart strings to cough up season book money to support the “Celtic Family” in its time of need.

They cynically took full advantage of the absence of fans to sit on their hands with the earplugs in as the season disintegrated. No way Lennon was there till February with the fans in the ground.

    Desmond – a disgrace.

Lawwell – despicable and a disgrace.

Lennon – a useless, selfish disgrace.

The Board – a freeloading disgrace.

    Kennedy – proven himself useless.

Strachan and his brother – shameless crony appointments.

    The players – disgust me.

We’re due an apology, but we won’t get one. We’re entitled, remember. Not the guys that saw the car crash smoking before those getting paid to do so and do the necessary to avoid it.

Eddie Howe? The could unveil Pep Guardiola and the explorative Tory bastards running our club won’t get another thin dime out of me.

The values of the club are in the sewer. We’re just another customer base to be exploited.

  18. Cannot comment on the game because for the first time in all my long life as a Celtic supporter, I did not want to watch the game. I had a bad feeling all week about the outcome.

It is about time that the supporters did something about our Board and our major shareholder. As one who put in over £1000 over the cut short season and this one for my season tickets, I will wait with interest to see what the Board award themselves at the end of this financial year.Should I buy a season ticket and feed their incompetence?

Yeah thats right, we would have won the ten had it not been for Paul 67, he should be sacked immediately.

Realistically we need to keep some players we might not actually want to keep, players for the squad, for the homegrown rule etc so I’d be expecting we keep Forrest, Taylor, Johnstone, Bain or Hazard. Rumours that we’re waiting on the new coach to decide on Griffith’s future, so Welsh, Montgomery and Hjelde (sp) will need to be suppported by quality additions and regardless of those squad players it’s a big rebuild. We’ll continue to be run as DD sees fit, sadly

  21. Lawwell will be remembered for his greed and failure to to see what was staring him and us in the face.

I will be interested in the golden handshake amount Lawwell is given, we have a committee which decides these things, my opinion it will be a substantial amount of cash, or whatever is most tax effective.

For the first time ever I’ve just been bothered to look at the composition of the Celtic board: 4 NEDs Allison, Wilson, Bankier and Brown.

Allison was appointed in 2001, Wilson in 2005, Bankier in 2011 and the token female, Brown, in 2016. I

Aside from being piss poor corporate governance, I have to ask what these people bring to the party after such long tenure?

I laughed when I saw Brown was a NED on 3 investment trust boards, a role a nodding dog could fulfil.

With the benefit of hindsight I think this shit-show has arisen because one person has had too much power for too long and not been held adequately accountable by a very, very weak board.

If you’re going to operate as a PLC at least have proper governance in place to stop things blowing up in your face (as an aside, Celtic moved from the main market to AIM a long time ago, who knows allows them to bypass rules on NED tenure).

In order for PL to continue at UEFA he first must have an official capacity at a football club. I would have thought that it would be in Celtic’s best interests to continue that involvement, or perhaps, he may move to another club to facilitate those requirements, who knows, por cierto.
