for all those advocating not buying season tickets –

please let us know how things would pan out over the next couple of seasons with regards

    recruitment, team performance and ownership.

dont need your thoughts on the past season, or past few years or the status quo, would just like to know what the future would look like in your eyes if season tickets were boycotted.

I think the new CEO has done an excellent job at the SRU. The challenge of a hugely wealthy English neighbour is just as big a factor in rugby.

Given the chance to be his own man, he could significantly improve CFC.

for all those advocating not buying season tickets –

That would depend to an extent on what changes on how the club is run came about as a result…..

Your point is well made though, still more so given the high number of players needed and very low number of days left to do so.

    Talking about getting close.

On two occasions yesterday Turnbull was impeded by Laxalt as he tried to take a corner.

Laxalt never got as close to an opponent all season.

Your comment betrays a lack of faith in our Board’s intentions towards the football department.

I get the impression you’re expecting things to deteriorate further so you can then point at disloyal customers of the football department as being responsible.

Same as this season, except we would benefit from our cash rather than Desmond or Lawwell.

We’re doing the garden up. The season book money will pay for the posh BBQ we’re looking at.

  7. Big Georges Fan Club - Hail, Hail, Wee Oscar on

I think, for a lot of people, the cash will stay in their pockets until and unless they see significant, serious steps to improve the whole structure at Celtic – management, recruitment/scouting, players, coaches (both football ones and the bloody Parks ones we still use!)

This week, if rumours are more than just that, could be a really big one. We have the new CEO – I think it is a good appointment. If the current favourites (in the press, at least) for the DoF (Harkins) and Manager (Howe) both emerge as real appointments, we could be at the start of an exciting period. I don’t imagine either would take their roles without undertakings re: significant funding for players.

If these things come to pass, then many people who are swithering might just decide to go again.

    Fingers crossed.

Me and Wee BGFC will be going to the games no matter what , but I wouldn’t be criticising anyone who made a different decision.

It takes a huge amount of effort to be this bad.

PL has a special talent — shared by quite a few unfortunately — to turn anything he touches into *hite.

He is an unconscious incompetent and then some — he actually thinks he is doing the right thing.

Plus all the bonuses just reinforces his ego as to his suitability for the job.

Where he does shine is his ability to spin / deflect / excuse his own failure.

He has developed a whole interweb micro-community to sell us an alternative reality.

CQN — 18 years and counting — has to be the jewel in his crown.

The scary part is the way that others have become involved.

Regarding the future — huge amount of low hanging fruit.

CP at almost every level is poor — loyalty is paramount / talent and ability come second.

We are not a demanding audience and too many just coast along selling gossip and not service.

    2030 — we need to be a £200mill enterprise.

    2003/04 = £70mill turnover.

    2020/21 = £65mill turnover.

That is the 18 year legacy of PL and his rank stupidity / lack of talent.

I await the CoViD19 excuses — it shows who his fan boys really are.

We need to be more than a football match every second Saturday in G40.

We need a growth agenda / a lot of focus / football comes first.

We need a £5mill coaching budget.

The last 3 years highlight what happens when we lose sight of that.

Get the right manager and everything else will fall into place.

A house divided will always fall and that is what we are right now.

DD wanted to get one over on BR for his supposed disloyalty — his ego came before our football club.

    Never again.

To help me through the day I assume:

DD and PL (and now DMcK) have a DoF and a Manager lined up

There are contractual, possibly legal reasons why they cannot appoint or name them at the moment

But in order to get the people we want – we had to wait ………..

I then assume, to put us through this chaos, they must be worth waiting for

If my assumption is nonsense (and that is possible) we are being managed by idiots

  11. No young player should be judged on his performances of this season.

Too many are quick to jump on the back of our inexperienced players.

We are a shambles — no platform for young men.

Confidence is shot at every level.

    Coaching is non-existent.

However I am struggling to hold my tongue regarding JJK.

  12. Madmitch. Some interesting Stats on celticstar last year on our turnover when PL came in to the seasons b4 Covid. Virtually a zero % growth

At a time that the CL available income just for qualifyin went up by 50%. So we actually shrunk

The only thing that increased during the PL myth yard was his salary of about 1000% Funny that eh

  13. Something that strikes me every time I see this Celtic team is how small we look, and, not physically well conditioned, even Aberdeen look bigger and stronger thankfully at the moment they are crap, that can be rectified by having proper conditioning programmes for players and appropriate nutrition, one example and I am not singling him out is MJ, he is not strong enough to play professional football, he is a wee boy still but on the fringes of the 1 st team when he is nowhere near ready for this.

The scouting people must look at physicality as well as being nice on the ball, we are far from being competitive and it shows.

I agree with all of that

I would add – PL was the reason BR left – PL s imagination could not reach BRs ambition

The following is just my opinion pure speculation

PL as a CEO believes he has to control everything – so he does

Especially the football side, the buying and selling of players

PL bought what he thought was a good deal not necessarily a good player

I have always said the McGinn situation was PL behaving like the school bully – Petrie at Hibs would not be bullied – so celtic lost a £25 million footballer

The same happened with Ivan Toney when he was at Peterborough – PL thought he could get his man cheaply – we know how that ended up (Toney is the Top Scorer 30 goals in the Championship)

For me this is where PL comes up short (I am a fan of his Commercial work and they way he has stabilized Celtic financially) but he has cost Celtic millions and more importantly he has weakened our team by not going the extra mile for the likes of McGinn and Toney (and how many others)

PL was looking for a deal not a player

The final straw was when he wandered into the showers at Hampden – the worst decision of his time at Celtic (but to him it was a good deal)

I can’t hate PL he has been the backbone of our club for 18 years he stabilized us when others were floundering

But Celtic did not need stabilizing Celtic needs inspiration, imagination and adventure

It hurts a little to say it but unfortunately PL will not be missed and thats a shame given the time he has served us

Anyway I feel better for getting that out – time for coffee 9too early for wine)

I fear you are too kind to PL — seeing talent where none exists.

PL is a second rate / low rent property bean counter.

He has no commercial aptitude / business expertise at any level.

No understanding of a growth agenda or building a brand.

He just holds a rich man’s bag and does what he is told to do.

Then he works CP to his advantage at every level.

    Complete unconscious incompetent.

He thinks he has done a good job.

BR left because DD did not trust him anymore.

MON had broken his heart and he was not going to let it happen twice.

DD then took PL of the leash he had been on for two years and the rest they say is tragedy.

PL needed no encouragement to wind BR up after two years of living in his shadow.

DD threw him a bone with his super duper bonus to make sure BR would not be the highest paid person at CP that year.

BR then left to take the first big job on offer.

He was so wound up that he then tried to cause as much damage as possible when he left.

Coaches / staff / tea ladies / grass cutters — BR would have taken them all if he had been able.

Two huge egos collide — BR and DD — and we have paid a heavy price.

PL just wallowed in the mess and hoovered up the bonus.

  19. I think we’ve seen the reason why Kennedy wasn’t on the plane down to Leicester alongside the rest of Rodgers coaching team – he’s 100% out of his depth and after this week, should be 100% removed from the Club.

Not a lot in your post I could seriously disagree with. However.

“I can’t hate PL he has been the backbone of our club for 18 years he stabilized us when others were floundering”…

I accept that, to an extent, ‘stabilised’ is appropriate if you are of the view that the front loaded financing (and bonus payments for football success!!!) of the MON years caused such financial demand on the club as to justify ‘stabilising’.

I personally don’t think we needed ‘stabilising’ as such after 2012 when Huns Mk1 went bust and I think that would’ve been our opportunity to press on.

However I personally believe our Board see the best interests of the football department as being in tandem with the current G51 occupants and everything that’s happened over the last 10 years has been about their rehabilitation as our business partner.

Every now and then P67 pops in a curveball from nowhere about the resurrection of some EPL nonsense. This is our Absentee Landlord’s long term aim and for that purpose he needs what he regards as the former club he thought was “Fan-Tarstic” to be a live going concern.

In order to save ourselves undue distress at the likes of yesterday, we need to understand – and more and more seem to be doing so – that the aspirations of we as football department customers are different to those of the Board.

You refer to stabilising. I’d call it stagnating at best and downright contempt for the customer at worst.

  21. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD on 3RD MAY 2021 8:12 AM

I don’t know if I’m talking nonsense here but it struck me quite forcibly just now listening to Radio Scotland. The 2 broadcasters were having a joke about the expression “Mother of God”. which seems to have been used on the programme Line of Duty. It meant nothing to them, apart from something to laugh at. It might explain to some degree how Scotland is seemingly blind to anti-Catholic/Irish/Celtic bigotry.

    —-

Another expression from Line of Duty last night was ‘failed upwards’ in relation to a non performing police officer who inexplicably climbed the career ladder.

If reports last week hold true then John Kennedy is about to fail his way up the Celtic hierarchy.

We are all hurting this morning

A self inflicted disaster of a season

For me it’s how we now move forward, with a complete structure change

A huge job faces our new manager, with a full team of players required

Not 1 of yesterday’s team got a pass mark

For me at least 9 of them needs to be moved on

  24. Re: SIONNAIGH – a business DD cares passionately about? which one is that? Not Celtic!

  25. AD @ 10.43

Some accounts suggest that BR asked JK to move to the Midlands / Egg Chaser Central.

The fallout was so bad because the spat between BR and DD had become personal and the club was second to both of them — BR just wanted to get one over DD / PL and the club.

I also think that BR has been at it with some of the players — promising moves tomorrow / tomorrow.

When it comes to BR and his love of our club — it only went so far and his ego came first.

The fall out seems to have been brutal and would account for the lack of focus from BR that season.

Not happy at BR’s way of leaving — however we all have our egos.

Having to listen to PL’s waste water would have put me over the edge as well.

Not a huge fan of BR — he still had CL L plates on at CP — but he took us to a new level.

However DD could not see that or it was of no consequence to him and his EPL dream.

Although we would be lucky to survive in League Two this year down south.

So he has been pennywise / pound foolish.

What is it with DD and his managers — they always seem to get the two year itch.

A major part of the problem is that for large parts of this season, and several before, we have been playing this player – and others like Bitton out of position at CB.

Largely because of our unofficial DoF’s supposed eye for a player.

Anyway, everyone seems to think that because Ajer is the height he is, he should be able to be dominant in the air. The problem is he is not a natural CB.
