I think, for a lot of people, the cash will stay in their pockets until and unless they see significant, serious steps to improve the whole structure at Celtic – management, recruitment/scouting, players, coaches (both football ones and the bloody Parks ones we still use!)
This week, if rumours are more than just that, could be a really big one. We have the new CEO – I think it is a good appointment. If the current favourites (in the press, at least) for the DoF (Harkins) and Manager (Howe) both emerge as real appointments, we could be at the start of an exciting period. I don’t imagine either would take their roles without undertakings re: significant funding for players.
If these things come to pass, then many people who are swithering might just decide to go again.
Fingers crossed.

It takes a huge amount of effort to be this bad.
PL has a special talent — shared by quite a few unfortunately — to turn anything he touches into *hite.
He is an unconscious incompetent and then some — he actually thinks he is doing the right thing.
Plus all the bonuses just reinforces his ego as to his suitability for the job.
Where he does shine is his ability to spin / deflect / excuse his own failure.
He has developed a whole interweb micro-community to sell us an alternative reality.
CQN — 18 years and counting — has to be the jewel in his crown.
The scary part is the way that others have become involved.
Regarding the future — huge amount of low hanging fruit.
CP at almost every level is poor — loyalty is paramount / talent and ability come second.
We are not a demanding audience and too many just coast along selling gossip and not service.
2030 — we need to be a £200mill enterprise.
2003/04 = £70mill turnover.
2020/21 = £65mill turnover.
That is the 18 year legacy of PL and his rank stupidity / lack of talent.
I await the CoViD19 excuses — it shows who his fan boys really are.
We need to be more than a football match every second Saturday in G40.
We need a growth agenda / a lot of focus / football comes first.
We need a £5mill coaching budget.
The last 3 years highlight what happens when we lose sight of that.

I agree with all of that
I would add – PL was the reason BR left – PL s imagination could not reach BRs ambition
The following is just my opinion pure speculation
PL as a CEO believes he has to control everything – so he does
Especially the football side, the buying and selling of players
PL bought what he thought was a good deal not necessarily a good player
I have always said the McGinn situation was PL behaving like the school bully – Petrie at Hibs would not be bullied – so celtic lost a £25 million footballer
The same happened with Ivan Toney when he was at Peterborough – PL thought he could get his man cheaply – we know how that ended up (Toney is the Top Scorer 30 goals in the Championship)
For me this is where PL comes up short (I am a fan of his Commercial work and they way he has stabilized Celtic financially) but he has cost Celtic millions and more importantly he has weakened our team by not going the extra mile for the likes of McGinn and Toney (and how many others)
PL was looking for a deal not a player
The final straw was when he wandered into the showers at Hampden – the worst decision of his time at Celtic (but to him it was a good deal)
I can’t hate PL he has been the backbone of our club for 18 years he stabilized us when others were floundering
But Celtic did not need stabilizing Celtic needs inspiration, imagination and adventure
It hurts a little to say it but unfortunately PL will not be missed and thats a shame given the time he has served us

He just holds a rich man’s bag and does what he is told to do.
Then he works CP to his advantage at every level.
Complete unconscious incompetent.
He thinks he has done a good job.
BR left because DD did not trust him anymore.
MON had broken his heart and he was not going to let it happen twice.
DD then took PL of the leash he had been on for two years and the rest they say is tragedy.
PL needed no encouragement to wind BR up after two years of living in his shadow.
DD threw him a bone with his super duper bonus to make sure BR would not be the highest paid person at CP that year.
BR then left to take the first big job on offer.
He was so wound up that he then tried to cause as much damage as possible when he left.

I accept that, to an extent, ‘stabilised’ is appropriate if you are of the view that the front loaded financing (and bonus payments for football success!!!) of the MON years caused such financial demand on the club as to justify ‘stabilising’.
I personally don’t think we needed ‘stabilising’ as such after 2012 when Huns Mk1 went bust and I think that would’ve been our opportunity to press on.

The fallout was so bad because the spat between BR and DD had become personal and the club was second to both of them — BR just wanted to get one over DD / PL and the club.

A major part of the problem is that for large parts of this season, and several before, we have been playing this player – and others like Bitton out of position at CB.
Largely because of our unofficial DoF’s supposed eye for a player.
Anyway, everyone seems to think that because Ajer is the height he is, he should be able to be dominant in the air. The problem is he is not a natural CB.

So he has been pennywise / pound foolish.
What is it with DD and his managers — they always seem to get the two year itch.
MON @ 2002 / BR @ 2018?
dreadful yesterday

the problem with Bain is he catches nothing
useless now and always was
Bain is a third choice keeper . He should only be at CP with two in front of him or not at all . Of those who might stay , Taylor should be back up (the new Ralston) as should Welsh .

Ernie I am aware of “assume” ass/u/me
I have exchanged words with you before as you assume our Board have rolled over this year and let them win the league ?? I don’t think you are right
Lets hope you are right on one thing “our Board are not stupid”

and if anyone think Ajer is the answer , they are living in cloud cuckoo land , Ajer is a major part of the problem.

not at all.
but you’ve maybe outlined what will happen.
I’m interested in what people actually want and what they will get.

Yes I can understand why you would think I am being too kind to PL
However I try and see the good in people
PL made a couple of mistakes – I don’t believe intentionally – and we the Celtic support paid the price both financially and emotionally
Let’s hope for all our sakes that in 5 years time our criticism of PL was justified
Because if the next guy is no better than PL well, we are in big trouble

I wasn’t advocating a boycott of season tickets. Just my personal choice to not put my hand in my pocket. The only constant is fans always paying their way and I don’t think we are appreciated by our board. We haven’t heard a peep from them but I can guarantee as soon as season ticket renewals are due we won’t be able to shut them up. Hoping for a brighter future but with the incumbent board I think the same mistakes will be made.
