  1. Notice the Rodgers loathers and R2ngers fans don’t want to see Brendan on an extended contract.

Well, we have come a heck of a long way since we lost the ten in a row and it’s easy to see us back there under a different head coach.

Our record with managers has been patchy to say the least in the last decade…

    Ronny Delia

    BR Mk1

    Lenny Mk2

    JK (caretaker)

    Ange

    BR Mk2

Outside Ange’s two seasons it is only BR who has improved our teams. We got Ange through more luck than judgement as we could not land Eddie Howe.

So be careful what you wish for – these guys get there way and drive Brendan Rodgers out, we are in deep doooh!!

POV: This will be fixed and fixed soon

    Hail Hail

  2. WHAT IS THE STARZ @ 9:55 AM,

Tierney is a superstar – his guts and drive were missing big time yesterday.

What that team would have done for a KT or Broony…

    Hail Hail

  3. Wee certainly didn’t compete yesterday , but just a couple of off days so far this season happens . We will be back to winning ways on Sunday . One we gripe I have is ,our team is stuffed with talent ,but sometimes like yesterday a more physical team pick is required , thing is we don’t have a couple of physically equipped midfielders , if Brendan looks back on yesterday I think he will find out a couple of that type are needed when playing teams like them . HH

  4. the long wait is over on

I’d have Kt back in a heartbeat , injuries or not.

A born leader and a proper Celtic man to his core.

Not enough of them about the squad at the minute as yesterday proved.

  5. CHAIRBHOY on 3RD JANUARY 2025 9:58 AM

I don’t see BR being driven out. He’s been calling the shots since young Lawwell was chased.

He undoubtedly has his Lawwell loyalists to contend with but they’re a fly on the bumper all things considered.

  6. AN DÚN @ 10:07 AM,

Well, let’s hope you are right, they like to see themselves as “connected” and are relentless when we are less than great.

Also, think you have a good point re:Kyogo – I know he was in my top three but only ’cause so many under performed.

Kyogo has put in those performances all season and I’m not buying he doesn’t get service.

A sublime pass found him off-side again

Several breaks saw the R2ngers defence taking the ball off him like candy from a bady

We need more physicality up front – holding the ball up and counterattacking is key to the way we play.

    Hail Hail

  7. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

To repeat, the most concerning thing about yesterday was that BR got a memo 3 weeks ago telling him what was coming.

He either ignored it or could not adapt. Either way, yesterday was a professional embarrassment for him (and many others).

I was delighted to have him back and think he is an excellent coach, but I would wait until the summer to give him a contract extension. That gives him 2 derbies to show he can adapt his tactics and Clement doesn’t have his number.

    FOURSTONECOPPI

As I said to my friend in the Port re that piece of thuggery….Just following orders. We shall be Champions…..and the bxxxxxxs know it.

  9. I like many other Celtic supporters can be critical on some of our players performance yesterday.Scales ,Hatate,McGregor ,Bernardo,a lot of times they have been heroes yesterday they are villains, yesterdays gone we move on .

  10. THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM @ 10:21 AM,

Well, “IF” you were delighted to have him back you will know he’s exceeding expectations, so why would he not be allowed to continue that!?

Brendan Rodgers record against R2ngers is astounding…

    21 games, 16 wins, 3 draws, 2 loss. 46 goals scored, 18 goals conceded.

As is his record against Clement

    7 games, 5 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. 14 goals scored, 11 goals conceded.

The only chink that I can see is the goals Clement has managed to score against us, yet we have been consistently saying we need to improve defensively – that will happen.

Ange lost a game at Ibrox 3-0, did you suggest Ange was under examination then!?

Here’s a direct quote taken from the BBC website…

Rodgers says lead maybe ‘took Old Firm edge off’ for Celtic.

Only Rodgers didn’t say that, he said this…

“I’m not sure if the 14-point gap took the edge off, it shouldn’t, but maybe subconsciously it can do. We did not play well and Rangers deserved to win.”

Why do you think the BBC were misrepresenting our manager?

POV: Like you the BBC want to siw seeds of doubt in our manager among the Celtic faithful.

This time last year and for many weeks after, I read screeds of comments on Celtic sites telling us we were going to lose the league to Clement

    Repeatedly I posted we weren’t.

We won the double, ably assisted by two Brendan Rodgers January signings.

We are going to win the league this year and start 2025/26 season a better team than we started 2024/25.

    Hail Hail

  11. A concern is that although Kyogo makes great runs for a strike he is offside on way too many of these

    this season.

  12. An Dún on 3rd January 2025 9:47 am

Idah should now be getting a run of games which he hasn’t been given to date despite Kyogo being a man down most games.

Idah may not be the answer but continuing to start a clearly under performing Kyogo is not answer.

Whether it’s Kyogo or the service to him, I think at this point it doesn’t matter. I’d listen to any sensible offer for Kyogo this window so long as we had another striker lined up.

    ————————————————————————————————————

100% spot on post. Kyogo is a player who is on the decline now. To have 8 league goals at this stage of the season for a Celtic striker is woeful. A replacement should be a priority signing for this window along with a LB, LW & a physical ball winning midfielder. All should be first XI material.

  13. Lets be blunt.

KT will bring a lot to the table. The treatment table..

    James Mccarthy springs to mind.

    Lets look forward, not backwards.

    HH.

  14. I appreciate that our manager has had our team playing very entertaining football and (for the most part) getting results too. But it would be wrong, imo, to simply ignore that we have been playing poorly on the whole recently. Again imo, he should have learned from the LC Final and adapted his tactics. That he chose not to or couldn’t is a worry for me.

We were, as a team yesterday, as bad as I can remember for many a year. Why?

  15. GREENPINATA @ 11:24 AM,

No doubts you like others have a goid point.

    YET

BR&Co Mk1 managed KT’s injury blighted 2018/19 season very well, mainly playing European games.

He went on to have a great season with Arsenal after an operation.

If we have him as suggested on a 2.5 year deal, I think we’ll have many great performances from him.

    Hail Hail

  16. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD @ 11:29 AM,

Again, good points but I’m not getting the learning from the League Cup final thing.

That Celtic team scored three goals in the LC final and could have scored more – our penalties were excellent.

The defence were wanting that day for sure – we replaced Trusty with Scales, yet Scales had a poor game yesterday.

    Hail Hail

  17. Morning all,

Despite yesterday still woken up happy to be a Bhoy and happy to read some reasonable posts on here compared to some whack job conspiracy blogs and complete over-reactions I’ve since seen.

As a supporter who grew up with entitled huns all around and us not even finishing 2nd at times I can never fully get with the overconfidence I saw on so many blogs yesterday – even if some excused themselves with “we’re allowed to get ahead of ourselves, BR will ensure the players don’t” pishful thinking. At those times I am sure I remember a good few “unexpected” wins for us (usually 3rd or 4th derby game of the season when it mattered more to us than them as the league was long gone). Form does not go out of the window for these games imo but hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard is always a possibility and we looked lethargic and not at it all over the pitch.

Only time will tell if this is more than a blip / bad day at the office for all involved (players and manager) but I am hopefully of a positive reaction starting on Sunday. Some recent results / form might also make for a more interesting transfer window as, if Holm is on the way out, a Wanyama type as well as a LB and winger might also now be prioritised.

  18. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Really disappointing you can’t say anything vaguely critical about our manager without people jumping down your throat and accusing you of some ulterior motive. I really have better things to do.

Hope you all have a happy and prosperous 2025👍

  19. Listening to The Celtic Exchange pod, the lads are saying Greg has declined another offer and is off to the MLS or Dinamo I guess for bigger money.

So with KT, if the Arse are happy to pay all of/subsidise his green gauges for 6-months at a time when Greg might be leaving us, it’s surely a no-brainer. KT’s Celtic DNA can only fire the squad up a bit for coming months

Also, listening back shows several podders pre-game predictions haven’t aged well.

It’s clear we all dismissed how close they got to us in the LCF and didn’t have a game plan to counter that.

Big Baldy will feel emboldened and vindicated he got one (only one) over on us.

The Waffler’s team will take great heart from that drubbing, and he also showed all other teams how to nullify the way we prefer to play.

Here’s hoping we buck up our ideas for the weekend’s upcoming test.
