Good morning all from Govanhill. Another week of fun and thrills coming up. Hibernian are the visitors on Saturday to Paradise. Give them a sound thrashing Celtic!

  2. Quite happy with the 1 all draw though I would be even happier if Maeda’s last second chance hadn’t happened as to win the game with last kick of the ball would have been a complete sickner for Sevco fans. Ah well, just have to be content with another definite double and a good chance at another treble .

It’s not easy being a Celtic fan!

For those interested in when the various transfer windows open here’s what CHATGBT says.

The Scottish football summer transfer window for the 2025/26 season is scheduled to open on Thursday, 12 June 2025, and close on Friday, 29 August 2025. This period applies to all divisions under the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), including the Premiership, Championship, League One, and League Two.

During this window, clubs can register new players through permanent transfers or loan agreements. After the window closes, clubs are generally restricted to signing free agents or making emergency loan deals under specific circumstances.

It’s important to note that these dates align with the broader European transfer calendar, facilitating smoother international transfers. However, the SPFL may adjust these dates if necessary, so it’s advisable to stay updated through official SPFL communications.SPFL

    Scotland (SPFL)

    Opens: Thursday, 12 June 2025

    Closes: Friday, 29 August 2025

🏴 England (Premier League & EFL)

Early window (FIFA Club World Cup): Sunday, 1 June – Tuesday, 10 June 2025

Main window: Monday, 16 June – Monday, 1 September 2025

The early window accommodates clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, allowing them to register players ahead of the tournament. However, all Premier League clubs can engage in transfers during this period.

    Spain (La Liga)

    Opens: Tuesday, 1 July 2025

    Closes: Monday, 1 September 2025

La Liga’s transfer window aligns with the traditional European schedule, opening in July and closing at the start of September.

    Italy (Serie A)

    Opens: Tuesday, 1 July 2025

Main window: Tuesday, 1 July – Monday, 1 September 2025

    Summary:

Scotland’s transfer window opens later than England’s and closes earlier than some other European leagues.

England has a split window to accommodate the FIFA Club World Cup, with an early June period and the main window starting mid-June.

Spain, Italy, Germany, and France generally open their main transfer windows on 1 July and close on 1 September 2025.

These variations are due to differing league schedules and international competitions like the FIFA Club World Cup.

  3. I queried the refernce to the FIFA world cup , CHAGBT replied

“Great observation — you’re absolutely right that the FIFA World Cup will be held in 2026 (specifically, June–July 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico).

However, the 2025 transfer window dates you’re seeing mention the FIFA Club World Cup, not the traditional World Cup.”

  4. Just listened to English on Radio Scotland about events at Ibrox yesterday. Basically he said one was as bad as the other and the powers that be will just ignore things, as they always do. He commended the deid team for condemning the banner and the bottle throwing and reckoned the new owners wouldn’t be put off by it.

Did he condemn any of it, himself? Didn’t hear it. Sounded embarassed to be asked about it.

  5. McPhail Bhoy on

It looks like CCV will be out for a few games to protect him for the Cup Final, interview with Brendan on Celtic TV, got an injection as he has an issue with his hamstring

  6. Great to see the ugly Hun fans getting more uglier and angry when the Celtic supporters were belting oot ” Simply the Best” as the players lined up.

The Hoops support were Rippin the Piss ootta that Hun Mob…LOL

    MAGIC !

They don’t like it ” UP THEM”.

    LOL

    Sad news. Andy Paton.

Former Celtic star Andy Payton, 57, is battling dementia.

The striker has been diagnosed with early-onset form of the killer condition that has struck several footballers including Hoops legend Billy McNeill.

Mr Payton who played for the Parkhead club in the 90s is convinced playing football has caused his serious health problem.

He said: ‘I was just experiencing the usual symptoms – forgetfulness, loss of memory and headaches, but I was n’t expecting to have early onset dementia,

‘It’s properly frightening, you just don’t know what’s coming down the line.

‘My partner more or less manages my day-to-day life, so I know exactly what I’m doing. where I need to be so I don’t forget anything.

‘The neurologist who did my scan said there are 68 tracts in the brain and 27 of mine are damaged.

‘That’s half the brain that’s damaged.

‘The neurologist said it’s from football, there’s no other thing it can be.’

He said that during his playing career he spent hours on end practicing heading footballs.

Now he has problems remembering what he’s eaten just an hour before.

Mr Payton added: ‘It was just header, header, bang, bang, bang.

‘We’d do it every day, sometimes for an hour and a half.

‘I must have headed the ball about 10,000 times, hence the fact I’ve ended with early onset dementia at 57.’

  8. Andy scored 15 in 36 in a very poor Celtic team. Poor Liam Brady just couldn’t cope.

At least we had the new stadium to look forward to.

The plans revealed in April 1992 included:

    A 52,000 all seater stadium

Two Park & Ride rail stations from Glasgow city centre

A retail village including major stores and car showrooms

    Parking for 4500 vehicles

    A Celtic Heritage museum

    Integrated Sports and Leisure facilities

    A permanent performance stage

Mobile acoustic curtain enclosing up to 15,000 seats

    An eight-screen cinema complex

    A 30-lane ten-pin bowling alley

    Drive-through fast food restaurants

    Petrol station

    Office units

    Room for further expansion

Total cost, we were informed, was £100m and initially 32,000 seats (the two touchline stands) would be built with the rest to be added later.

  9. I put on radio Scotland about 5 mins after the match ended and all I heard was takeover chat. Investment, squad rebuilds and new management for the Huns.

I’m sure Tom English and the rest eventually got round to discussing the actual game but after ten mins of listening to hun feel good pish, I turned it off.
