I listen to Tom English quite a lot and I can assure you he has no good words for our Club, his tone changes when it’s about rugby, and I think he is quite knowledgeable in that subject, and for the abuse his fellow Irishman has suffered (Neil Francis) I have yet to read or hear a word of support or maybe he thinks Neil brings in himself ?

  7. Last season when Brendan was barely in the door, Tom English kept telling us Brendan couldn’t wait to get back to the EPL. He hasn’t a clue.

Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever witnessed, first hand, us winning at the bigot dome. Granted I’m a infrequent visitor there. What struck me most was the utter disrepair of the stadia, honestly the place needs a major makeover. The toilets eg had no handles or locks, seats missing in cubicles and the one I used had no way of flushing. Just as well I wasn’t needing a no 2.

I work in construction and what I saw reminded me of a job I was involved in yrs ago. A company wanted to put on a series of events in a derelict/run down building. We were brought in as one of our directors was a mate of one of the guys running the event. They had a budget of £20000 and we were basically told to make the place look presentable and ensure the fire brigade gave it a safety certificate.

The ceiling was in a bit of a state so we skimmed it with a finishing coat of plaster then painted it. They got their certificate and several events were held that were by all accounts sell outs making the guys that put them on a few £££’s. We heard later that the ceiling came down about 1hr after the last performance. The subsequent engineers report blamed us as the extra weight of the plaster had been to great on the “cracked and unstable” original plaster work.

I seriously hope that there is not something similar waiting to happen at the bigot dome but guys the place is on it’s last legs, how they manage to get a safety certificate is beyond me.

  9. Not sure why Andy Walker seems as bitter. Maybe he feels that he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves for being top goal scorer in the centenary season.

Nonetheless I don’t know any Celtic fan now who remembers him for that, they just note his negative comments and see him as a soup taker.

Tom English was born a West Brit, and he’ll die a West Brit. Anything else said about him is subterfuge.

St Ambrose has taken over espieside (the fitba parks are gone) my two young season ticket holding nieces are attending an amazing school, only happened in last couple of years the facilities are amazing, the old site is a car park for Blairhill station with council houses being built, the council had to sell half the ground to Scotrail so they could afford to build houses

My company yesterday pointed out the Coatbridge Bears flag, Segton at the fountain or Carsons in the Whifllett that’s their max…. their hatefest parades are always in Costbrig but I know them all and they know their club is defunct their hatred is all they have…..FACT

bendigo – he was a genius ‘ training takes the edge off my performance’ – brilliant

  13. Griff takes the corners for 2 reasons.

    1) He can deliver the corner better than any others in the team, thereby improving the chances of something good accruing from it.

    2) It is good practice for his free kicks – which BTW have been poor ever since he scored two for Scotland.

    Snap….

I always wondered why wee Walker had so much disdain for the team that made him

Maybe he was a Bolton FC fan all along

Cheers dude. I’ve not been over that was for a while – last time visiting my uncle in Corsewall St. couple of years ago. Usually just make it to Shawhead to see my mammy. Not this week though – Lourdes beckons for her… :-))

He takes a great corner but (just me) I would prefer my goal sniffer in the 6yd box tucking any half chances away

    (But LG’s corners are immense)

  20. There are few things as pathetic as Celtic fans pouring over ex Celts for comments they make on punditry. Get a life, or away and follow the Der Newco Huns. Either way give the rest of us all peace.

They’ve taken the Queens shilling. If you have an ounce of self respect, dont mention their names again.

I reckon he resents the fact that he was one of the last generation of players who missed out on the big money.

Also his middle class background marks him out as different to most footballers so perhaps on a different wave length to most of the fans.

Whatever it is, he comes across as a bit of a miserablist.

Having said that he seems to be very supportive of Cesar, so he can’t be all bad.

  22. Great Performance yesterday.

I still love the occasion of a Glasgow Derby but it’s so different in so many ways from the Old Firm matches.

This latest one highlighted that fact. You got the feeling that the players were saving themselves for Wednesday.

No doubt the Sevco Rangers Plaers were up for it. We still won at a canter, their fans that I spoke to know it so well, if anything they seemed to be more disheartened than the 5-1 Results.

They could see them as blips during “reconstruction”, but reality is hitting home. We can play well within ourselves but still approach the game in a professional manner (Griff excepted;))))) and win with ease @ Ibrox.

Looking forward to Anderlecht, it will be a real test of where we are.

    Hail Hail

  23. Gerry

If you were in The Priory yesterday I’ll probably know some guys you know.

Most of the guys I know now don’t go there because of what happened with the previous landlord.

Parkville has probably became the default pub although apart from the Stonefield most pubs in Blantir are Tim pubs.

  24. Kev J 8.47pm

Bumpedi into one my my mates yesterday who was off to Ibrox to watch Celtic ….. he got 8 tickets in the ballot at £50 @ pop and said he could have punted 10 times that…. he has no clue about Res12 or cares not a joy (his words) he is just interested in Celtic

71 Corsewall street is four in a block with nothing across the road, my old man Mick Shields wasn’t a lover of the knights he said “they think they are better than us, just like the Huns” ma Da didn’t say much but what he did say I took it in…. for the record he never bad mouthed my two big brothers but he never tired saying I was a cheeky wee shoite with far too much to say …..

When he passed in January 2nd 1995 it was my hand he held not his two brilliant older sons :-)

Interesting discussion about Griffs taking corner due to his delivery. We should get The bhoy Celtic by numbers to analyse the stats, I would be surprised if our score rate at corners is greater than 5%
