Football’s impudent scamps have long caused more annoyance than actual harm to their clubs. Many live by a different moral code to the rest of us which leads to all sorts of excesses, including the occasional violent bust-up.
Can you kick a team mate on the training field and punch him in the dressing room? You bet, there are hundreds of precedents for you. You can certainly kick lumps out of an opponent, but what about doling out racial references in the middle of a game?
The use of a racist term in my office, and I’m sure your workplace, would lead to summary disciplinary procedures, but football has a way of looking at miscreants through rose tinted lenses. The hoary old defence on these occasions, be if for footballers or anyone else, is ‘He’s not a racist, some of his best friends are….’.
This doesn’t matter. The guilty party may be more rascal than racist but he needs to be treated in the same way anyone else using racist language in the workplace would be. English football has done enormous work to combat racism since the 1980s but it’s in danger of undermining these efforts by accommodating people who should know better.

Just back from that food shopping malarkey ,up in EK Sainsbury’s
met Paul Hartley,nice ghuy.
Maybe go next week , see who else I can meet :O)
Of course and tbh I don´t really take issue with him trying to dodge the fare. Very petty crime at most. The language and total disregard for his fellow passengers is why I think he got papped off.
Conductor should have lost control of the situation.
People taking the law into their own hands definitely spurs some interesting debate!
In response to LiviBhoy by the way!

Regarding the man who threw someone off a train and has now been charged with assault. Has he been remanded in custody or will he be allowed to spend Christmas at home unlike the young fella who will spend Christmas in jail for throwing a stone at Kyle Lafferty’s car.

“Driving Miss Daisy”
The “Big man” has serious problems ahead of him. He will need to declare this pending court case when his car and building & contents insurance renewal comes thru and he maybe refused cover!!

Re ‘bird on the wire’ from previous thread the wee bird also has the advantage of a short wing span whereas the larger bird with long wing span , eg a swan, is likely to be fried if it attempts to land or take off from a horizontal-configuration high voltage line as there is a high probability it will short across conductors.
Not football related, but sad sad news highlighting the attitude to minorities elsewhere. Can someone remind me what flamin century this is??

It was Midori! I watch recently on iplayer
A jamboes Christmas carol
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit nervous
That the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit terrified
And then I see the look in your eyes
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit helpless and I’m lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit angry and I know I’ve got to get out and cry
Turnaround, is very very low and its making me a little bit terrified
But then I see the look in your eyes
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We’ll be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right
‘Cause we’ll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the hearts
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the hearts
Overheads are sky high
Overheads are sky high
Turnaround, has bottomed out and I´ll never be the boy you always wanted to be
Turnaround, every now then I know you’ll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, will never recover and I know there’s no one in the universe as magical and wondrous as you
Turnaround, will never recover and I know there’s nothing any better
And there’s nothing that I just wouldn’t do
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
Overheads are sky high, will never recover and I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you’ll only hold me tight
We’ll be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right
‘Cause we’ll never be wrong together

Ally McCoist has conceded Nikica Jelavic’s future is out of his hands as speculation continues about the player’s future at Rangers.
The striker has been linked with moves to several English Premier League sides and McCoist has previously stated he expects interest in the attacker when the transfer window opens next month.
While recognising the Croatian’s importance to his side, McCoist remains relaxed about the player’s future.
And he hopes the chance to win more silverware with the Ibrox club will persuade the player to remain in Glasgow should a bid be made for his signature.
McCoist said: “What will be will be, the future is not mine to see”
“Let’s be honest about it Nikica is one of our top players and the fact he is our top scorer tells you that.
“He is pivotal to our team and I wouldn’t want to lose our best penalty taker”
Championship club Leicester City made an offer for the 26-year-old in the summer.
And when asked whether players would be tempted to stay in Scotland rather than move for higher wages down south, McCoist added: “(Winning trophies) is one of the selling points. You have to say there’s a greater opportunity at a club like ours to compete for major honours currently without sponsors and that has to be a selling point.
“I fully appreciate and am very well aware that financially we cannot compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and Chelsea. That’s just the nature of the beast at the moment.”
“There’s a lot of players this season chose not to come to us and go down south or stay down south so that’s something we’ve got to deal with.”
McCoist added he had the support of his board but added that like every club they would consider selling any player if they received a “really, appealing bid”.

For all those fed up with phone-in shows……I ditched them years ago.
Get yourself over to the Carluke Shamrock website and listen to Tic Talk. A fantastic show with Celtic fans talking all things Celtic. The panel changes each week (I’ve done one myself) and you’ll love the banter and the debating about all the hot topics. Oh and ye don’t have to listen to Keevins or any of the rest of them!
http://www.carlukeshamrock.com/blog/tic-talk-radio-shows
Also, check out the Celtic Underground Podcast, which is always excellent (just wish they would do more).
All of these, including Hail! Hail! Radio are the way forward! We can (and are!) creating our own media……these dinosuars are soon to be extinct! :-)
