Rate card for Kent violence suggests 4 game ban

232

Alfredo Morelos apologised to Newco fans for his red card on Sunday.  The incident, which marked the troubled striker as the player sent off more times in a single season than anyone in the history of European football, may yet do him good.  The Mea Culpa moment and the weeks suspended from action will provide an opportunity to the player to get some help.

You and me have previously discussed how clever you need to be to be a footballer these days.  Now, it is not all about having brains in your feet, as it was in Charlie Nicholas’ days.  Footballers need to make hundreds of decisions in line with tactical plans each game.  They also need emotional intelligence to make the most of their talent.  Managers will only invest time in players who cannot learn for so long.  Gordon Strachan’s limit was telling a player something three times, after that, he moved on.

Of immediate concern is what the SFA Review Panel will do to Ryan Kent, Newco’s best player on Sunday, who delivered an upper cut to Scott Brown in the aftermath of James Forrest’s winning goal.  Punching off the ball is rare in the game.  Bilel Mohsni’s punch on Motherwell’s Lee Erwin in 2015 resulted in an additional three-match ban for “excessive misconduct” on top of a one game ban for the red card, and another three for totting up.  Kent is 22-years-old, a guiding ban at this stage of a fruitless season would not be the worst thing for the player.  The rate card indicates he should spend four games contemplating his violence.

  1. Just voted SCANIEL, your posting reminded me of my da. He spent all his summers out in Connemara as a bhoy, almost 100 year ago now.

His mothers house was one of those old stone ones with a peat roof, he told me they had half doors, as if you left the door open the animals would wander in, so the half door meant the top half could be left open for fresh air although with the wind and rain howling off the Atlantic that widnae be too often, summer or no lol.

Anyway quite often he would look up and the dunkies wold be peering in.

Now, a break from voting: I’m not one usually for the ifs, buts and maybes, but I’m going make an exception because this Saturday I’m taking my 6 year old grandson to his first (proper) Celtic game versus Livingstone. (He went to the Petrov/Milner match). Now, What If We take full points from the buddies on Wednesday But the headless chickens drop points against the calvinists, then Maybe his first game will see us crown champions when we beat the Livi…..Ach, just dreaming. Anyway, I’m in the John Kennedy camp – don’t really care when we win it, just as long as we do.

Thanks, once again, to all on CQN

  5. Stokes is a CELTIC legend.

Won so many things with us.

  7. Got to watch that match again today.

All the bed wetters on the day.

The Huns purple and orange patch was for a total of 12 minutes and 1goal. 1shot . 1block.

Celtics disarray was injury caused. Not subs choice or tactics.

Same game replayed with fit players Celtic would win by five goals.

  9. the comparison of broony and previous captains like ceasar danny mcg or maestro is so, so wrong when did they have to deal with a baw grabbin , kickin, stamping diving snarlin coke hied??? and if they did, how would that have turned out???? the affront to sportsmanship is the person that is correctly being fined by his own club, for the cheat that he is !!!! a disgrace that he is, why this is being debated is an offense to sportsmanship… mr armstrong (the biker) should get a gig at govan

Take the time to judge each post on merit, not by the nome de plume.

There are far too few posters as it is without that ignorance. We need to actively encourage additional posters and that kind of language does not help.

Just as well we haven’t told you How many Pukki has scored in the English Championship, then? You and a couple of German chaps could suffer a serious mishap.

when was packed in cheers bar in Sydney on sunday night and Forrest touch the ball in about the 70th min and fellow fan asked me when he came on, I said he was his normal anonymous self

James, in common with almost everyone else in the Celtic team had had a quiet, near anonymous 2nd half until they scored.

Was it so packed in the first half that you could not see the screen?

See that wee guy on the right wing making all those interceptions, dangerous crosses and setting up Ntcham etc;- that was yon A. N. Other, you are on about. When Celtic play well, does your brain suppress the memory as a traumatic event?

although that pass for the 1st goal was world class, he did not even know where Edouard was, amazing !!! or was it just a hoof away, the latter I think

Yep! Just like the cut back for our last minute winner against Dundee, he had no idea where he was hitting the ball- it was just sheer luck it came near Edouard both times. The wee bassa has sclaffed his way to 11 goals (plus 5 in Europe and the Cups) and 9 assists in the SPFL this year all by sheer luck- Must be? What other possible reason could there be? That’s why Pukki’s goals are just fake news too- it’s his twin brother that’s went to Norwich.

the winner well put away, but sorry need a team player for next season his input week in week out in 8.5 years poor. sell him if Roberts wants to come back</b)

Well put away?- sheer nonsense- It was his usual cowardly sclaff! He was just getting rid before he suffered a tackle, the wee feartie!

In the 3 seasons he was with us, Paddy scored 18 goals in all competition; James in the same spell scored 27. It was James's haul in the 3rd season, when he was fit, that brought him ahead of Paddy. I'd love to see Paddy back, to pressure James again, but how many of our miserabilists would decry him as a Girona reserve with 14 appearances and 0 goals and 0 assists this season.

You must have watched a different game than me. Without James Forrest, we would not have won that match. The same could be said for a number of games this season, and other seasons. Imo James is one of the very few Champions League level players at Celtic.

  18. Vote in and confirmed for Scaniel, shared on Twitter.

I was a big fan of Stokes, his link-up play with Izaguirre was fantastic at times and he scored a fair few cracking goals.

  19. quadrophenian on

Watching the re-run again on Celtic TV – a few emotionally sober observations this time round:

1 TRFC keeper kick-outs work better than Bainys, cos their receiving players are not marked as tightly as we are

2 Jamesy is a confidence player. BR gave him heaps of it. Without it, he’s not as lethal as he can be.

3 Kent has 2 separate incidents where he should have been booked before assaulting SB

4 Mika looks and plays tired; from marking to diagonal distribution. JT or AR going fwd please.

5 Madden had a fair – not perfect – game

6 Kent gloated when he scored. Difference in SBs gloat was as a big game winner, not a wee game changer

7 Our substitution mgmt was poor; KT floating on touchline led to big Kris misplacing his wide pass.

8 Glen Kamara blessed himself when coming on (fined a week’s wages by Seethin??)

9 Kent takes much much better corners than we do, except when Ryan Christie plays

10 TRFC players were ungentlemanly timewasters at 1-1; their hypocrisy is baffling

11 At 90min thereon, all Madden’s decisions were pro-Blue (until then he seemed okay)

12 We did not know how to rearrange defensively to cope with Dedo and KT going off – over to you JK…?

13 Andy ‘sporting gesture’ Halliday may have to see Morelos’ head doctor too.

Final realisation for me; when I’m emotionally wrapped up in live game, I read our errors as worse than when I rewatch the game in a more emotionally stable state.

Anyway; had to get this all off my chest.

Hanging about waiting for a load of straw from a farmer who can usually supply us with straw even though it’s a 40 mile round trip. See these bliddy digesters using up mountains of straw and depriving our wee donx. Grrrrrr!

  22. QUAD @ 10:00

I had similar experience. I had believed huns ran the second half while watching on Sunday but after watching again yesterday(being relaxed (as I knew the score) we were still bossing the game until around 62/63 mins when they scored.

Only after that did we start to ,seemingly, panic a bit.

Don’t know where Gerrard gets the idea his team were the better team for 60 minutes or that Kent was best man on the park.

I recently saw an Italian Tv vox pop from Benidorm re Brits and Brexit . Gobsmacking -so much so I wasn’t convinced the twerps weren’t actors .

    My faves were –

#1 A woman with residence in Spain who had voted for Brexit because there were too many foreigners in England . Asked about the the logical inconsistency of that -she said -” I’m English “.

    # 2 — A man with residence in Spain who had voted for Brexit in consequence of all that money the English taxpayer gives to Europe — ” Look at the roads here -they’re perfect – the English taxpayer pays for them -when I go back to Woking – the roads are full of holes cos the Spanish tax payer doesn’t pay for them to be fixed “

  25. Scaniel,

I voted yesterday and then my broadband broke down.

Getting more annoyed by the minute as the smsm keep trying to foist the blame for feckless sevco’s failed intimidation on our captain. Now we’re supposedly playing the victim card. Traynor is obviously doing his level best. Makes me sick as it will go unchallenged in Scotland.

    Thumbs up thingy

  27. JC2

People keep saying that JF is off form because he hasn’t been going by full backs like he can, rather he cuts inside. Second half Sunday was another example of that. Particularly annoying when he was up against that low life. I wanted Big Burke on for him but that only reinforces that I know hee haw.

However, he set up the first goal (well it was his brilliant pass to eddy) and scored the second.

My mate said that he wanted to strangle Jamesie because he was so frustrating. If he plays well we hammer teams.

If he does hit form he’ll win us the treble for sure.

    I hope he does.
