There is always a frisson of excitement when the new season’s fixtures are announced but there is an extra spring in the step today.  Flag-day for the champions will be the weekend of 4/5 August against Aberdeen but I’m sure, like me, your eye ran down the list, rhyming off the names: Aberdeen, United, Ross County, Inverness, Hibs, St Johnstone, Club 12!

You had a smile to yourself, didn’t you?

SPL secretary, Iain Blair, explains, “Following the failure of Rangers FC to exit administration via a CVA, we have received an application to register the transfer of their SPL share to a newco. Should it be rejected, then another club may be invited to join the SPL for season 2012/13.”

That pretty much covers it, Iain, Rangers FC’s share will pass to either Newco or another club may be invited to join. Simple enough language to explain where we are.

As recently as a week ago I was pretty sure the fixtures would contain Newco but sentiment has been flowing against the concept since Charles Green took the SFA to court, inadvertently inviting a severe punishment from the Association as well as annoying SPL chairmen.

The BBC SPL table is also worth a cursory glance, resplendent with only One Team in Glasgow!

  1. SKY seem to be saying that they will not be pulling out of the Rangerless SPL next season and we have this new crowd BT tv outbidding ESPN for football coverage of the EPL. Will BT also be bidding for some SPL games previously covered by ESPN. Anyone know who the f….ck BT are? Does this this mean added expense for the punters. Previously ESPN was part of the UPC cable package.

Beats me why they didn’t use the newco name in the fixture list, it in effect is the huns.

Looking at the fixtures Dundee have no chance of being in the spl, dunfermlone possibly, but newhunco is odds on.

The thing that bothers me is that Club 12 is clearly taking the spot previously held by RFC(Rest In Peices). It might say Club 12 but I know in my heart it means Newco.

    Scottish football is doomed.

How easy do they think it is to pull the wool over our eyes with this rot?

Dundee Utd are at home 9 times when Club 12 are at home. Do you think the police will have Dundee Utd and Dundee playing at the same time in the same city?

    Do you?

It’s all very nice of them to claim that Club 12 doesn’t mean Newco, but it’s blatantly obvious it does.

Great to see fixtures with the defucters missing from them, looks like the same old ‘software’ was used as before where Celtic are away following Champions League games. Inverness after both CL Play offs, no doubt early Saturday morning shifts.

ASonOfDan – Club 12 are like aggressive beggars or squeegee merchants who’ve somehow gotten it into their heads that their victims “need” them.

What they should do, if they’re going to beg properly, is concentrate on looking sad and get a dog to sit beside them. A dog gives you the sympathy factor. Perhaps Club 12’s mascot could be Broxi, the Hobo’s Dug.

  13. Interesting dilema from the shirt sponsorship angle Carling or who ever may decide they cant back one club but must be both for obvious commercial reasons. But Celtic accepting they are being backed by the same sponsor as Newco is an acceptance of the past status quo and association and acceptance with past cheats. Not sure how long the current deal has to run. Single sponsorship at last maybe

I’d also say that if we do end up without a newco in the SPL it will largely have been due to the stance taken by fans of the other clubs (and in spite of the stance taken by Celtic fans) in relation to renewing season books.

Which is a shameful and disgraceful state of affairs.

  17. Dave King has swooped in like a vulture for a peck at the carcass. Now correct me if I am wrong, but the dead rangers was run not for profit but just to succeed and look what happened to that.

Rangers director Dave King has flown into Glasgow to hold talks with those involved in the newco buyout of the crisis-hit club.

The South Africa-based businessman is a director of The Rangers FC plc, which is now set for liquidation after the club’s assets were bought by a group headed up by Charles Green last week.

Mr King arrived at Glasgow Airport on Monday morning having previously criticised the role of administrators Duff and Phelps in the insolvency of the 140-year-old club.

He told STV News he is hoping to hold talks with various interested parties in the Rangers crisis and only wants people interested in investing in the club on a “not for profit basis” to succeed.

  19. Ghuys,

Remember before St Mirren and St Johnstone were promoted the Shame were listed as bottom of the league at this stage of the season, happy days!

I believe , events are about to become a whole lot worst for the Shame in the next few days / weeks, with the Appeal Panel reviewing the CoS ruling will result in a mix of the following punishments:

    – Transfer embargo increased to 2 years

    – Membership withdrawn for 12 months , backdated 12 months which means they are relegated from the Spl.

In addtion, the signifcant progress from the Harper McLeod lawyers reporting back this week on the ‘dual contracts’ will result in a prima facie case established and dependent upon the volume of evidence, I would imagine sufficient to establish charges against RFCIA which when found guilty will result in expulsion from Scottish professional football for RFCIA.

The football rules will not be tight enough to ensure that the sanctions imposed on a team who defrauded the tax authorities and creditors to the tune of £134M , playing in Blue at Ipox, called “Rangers” can be automatically carried forward to a team playing in Blue at Ipox called “The Rangers” .

However, for a NEWCLUB application to the SFA for licensing then previous behaviour needs to be taken into consideration and I believe that any application from Charlie Endell / Green will be refused ……….

…… contrition and humility will be required and a spell in the wilderness will be required to chisel these attributes into the collective mindset of the Shame and their booze-soaked apologists in the media.

I still believe that Charlie Endell hasn’t got a pot to p1ss in and when the above sanctions are enforced then the clauses in his agreement with Duff £ Phelps (withdrawl if RCFIA , NEWCLUB suspended from leagues and cups) will kick-in and that the transfer of assets to Yorkie m’lad will not go through.

There will then be a split (Monthy Pythonesq) amongst the Shame’s leaders each claiming the secret rites to the St. Etienne bike and various other regalia …. meanwhile the DR circulation will fall through the floor as they get more and more desparate with crazy stories ……

  20. The BBC SPL table is also worth a cursory glance, resplendent with only One Team in Glasgow!

I like the way the form guide (under last 10 games) shows history for the SPL teams.

Ross county have no history in the SPL and it appears that SFL form is not generated, so their form is omitted.

Club 12 have no history as they are either Dundee (see above) or Sevco (no history at all).

I will enjoy the lack of history with a smile for now as if Sevco do get voted into the SPL it will probably take the BBC scotland sports desk all of two seconds to update the ‘Last ten games’ to show the last 10 games for Rangers 1872, ignoring the fact that Sevco have no history…

The bid will be placed on behalf of the group fronted by former manager Walter Smith. They will then await a response from the Charles Green consortium that took control of the Ibrox club only four days ago.

I buy a house 4 days ago and tell everyone it cost me a total of £10 Million while knowing it is valued at £100 Million. You chap my door today and say “I’ll give you £6 million for your house.”

From the previous thread firstly, apologies for the tardy response. Lunchtime you see.

Secondly, Devil’s Advocate here…the SPL have received a request to transfer from a current member. Until the transfer is complete, Rangers FC remain a member. Being in adminstration, selling your grounds and everything else, etc. are not cause for explusion in the close season as you haven’t failed (yet) to fulfil any fixtures.

Non-Devil’s Advocate here. It is largely irrelevant since the chances of Sevco becoming a football club in time to play any registered matches during the 2012/13 season are negligible.

Ibrox Square transforms an early and important example of a British football stadium, previously

the home of Rangers Football Club, into a residential community. It preserves the nature and memory of the original arena while developing a new residential typology which contributes to the rich, local grain of streets, avenues and greeny as found in the local Bellahouston Park. This park was the venus for the Papal visits of 1982 & 2010.

The original Broomloan and Copland, (East and West stands) will be converted into apartments with a new central garden set between them. New residential blocks replace the Govan and Main (North and South) stands. This unique example of urban infill creates a contemporary Glasgow square, complemented by a series of new and smaller residential courtyards which connect back into the garden through large portal gates.

Although the front facia of the building is a “listed building” ongoing talks with the Glasgow Council have suggested this could be changed subject to certain other factors being ammended in the planning application.”
