Read ‘em and weep!

There is always a frisson of excitement when the new season’s fixtures are announced but there is an extra spring in the step today.  Flag-day for the champions will be the weekend of 4/5 August against Aberdeen but I’m sure, like me, your eye ran down the list, rhyming off the names: Aberdeen, United, Ross County, Inverness, Hibs, St Johnstone, Club 12!

You had a smile to yourself, didn’t you?

SPL secretary, Iain Blair, explains, “Following the failure of Rangers FC to exit administration via a CVA, we have received an application to register the transfer of their SPL share to a newco. Should it be rejected, then another club may be invited to join the SPL for season 2012/13.”

That pretty much covers it, Iain, Rangers FC’s share will pass to either Newco or another club may be invited to join. Simple enough language to explain where we are.

As recently as a week ago I was pretty sure the fixtures would contain Newco but sentiment has been flowing against the concept since Charles Green took the SFA to court, inadvertently inviting a severe punishment from the Association as well as annoying SPL chairmen.

The BBC SPL table is also worth a cursory glance, resplendent with only One Team in Glasgow!

Wouldnt have thought so – but the Club 12 SPL application cant be looking too clever at the moment.

Looking forward to those Rangers titles being stripped though…

‘Disciplinary charges being brought is ‘like a new signing’ -Mark Hateley.

  3. Can disciplinary proceedings be brought against the Still Horribles for the actions of The Horribles? – I don’t believe they can, so why do the SPL have to wait until the status of Club12 is resolved. The charges related to dual registration and EBT are relevant to oldco only, so why can’t they get on with stripping them of their titles, whilst the club chairmen are deciding what do do about newco?

So if they are liquidated this week, I take it the transfer of the share argument is over as the share defaults to the spl, the 4th July meeting will not be voting on a transfer but allocation, seen a good argument on here that the voting structure changes to 11-1

    Unbelievable.

SPL say the huns have a case to answer, but probably not, since they don’t exist anymore.

But yet they still want to be voted in to play in the SPL next year!

  6. another decision not to make a decision but suspend any decision to a new decision day, namely 4th july when the whole process will go thro’ the same loop again

Tomorrow is The Riding of the Marches in Linlithgow.

Pubs open at 6:00 am, marching bands from that time too.

Procession of various floats and bands through the town at noon. The shows will be set up in Tesco’s car park.

The town will be packed with people, both local and from surrounding areas.

I’m guessing it won’t be hard to tell who is a hun.

Me? I’ll be smiling the whole day!

  11. Independence Day – That should be the day the whole of Scottish Football becomes Independent from Rangers/Sevco/Newco/Club12

For those complaining about the SPL Fixtures (c’mon don’t they smell fresh??) we are AT HOME 5 matches out of 6 after Champions League Group Stage games (if we make that far).

Should we qualify, that is a result, as history shows a drop off in performance AFTER CL match days.

  15. Accordint to STV, the SPL plans to charge Sevco for the (alleged!) illegal payments made to players by Rangers.

Now STV could have got this wrong. Or the SPL could have got this wrong. But it could be brilliant.

If Green says “Can’t charge us. We are not Rangers” then they can feck off with their share application. A new club starts at the bottom.

If Green says “We are Rangers” then they are liable for anything and everything. Including whatever is thrown at it by the Appellate Tribunal, which has still to meet.

BTW your great nephew is loving the liquidisation. Loves laughing at hurting Rangers fans at his school. Although a couple of P7s have threatened to kick the proverbial out of him. He’s too fast for them though.

    Also congrats on the anniversary!

I shall remember he said to watch out for the magic words, PRIMA FACIE, and here they are

SPL says Rangers have case to answer over use of EBTs

The Scottish Premier League says Rangers have “a prima facie case to answer in respect of [league] rules” over payments to players.

Rangers were investigated over alleged player payments outside of contract.

“Disciplinary charges will be brought when the future status of Rangers FC is clarified and prior to the start of season 2012/13,” said an SPL spokesman.

Meanwhile, SPL member clubs will vote on whether a newco Rangers should be admitted to the league on 4 July.

    More to follow.

Paul, if its not too much trouble can you message me saturdays lottery numbers. Cheers ;o)

So on the face of it even if they are voted back in to the SPL by the chairmen they could then be booted out again for the dual contract scam – wow – that’s my preferred ending for them.

  22. So after delays caused by Rangers, meaning they could only now consider whether there is a case, no disciplinary action will be taken because of the financial problems of Rangers?

No wonder Doncaster isn’t taking questions.
