‘REALLY HAPPY,’ DURAN’S SIX APPEAL

CAMILO DURAN’S six goals in his first seven Celtic games earned the new Bhoy the August SPFL Player of the Month award.

The £6million signing from Qarabag is already looking like a bargain after hitting the ground running with his strikes spread around in three competitions, the Premiership, Premier Sports League Cup and Champions League.

Duran, already a firm favourite with the Hoops followers, continued into September where he left off the previous month with a spectacular opening goal in the champions’ 3-0 triumph over Aberdeen at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

With Kasper Hogh still struggling with the injury that forced him out of the match against the Dons, it looks as though the Colombian will again lead the attack against St Mirren in tomorrow’s 8pm kick-off in Paisley.

Reflecting on his SPFL recognition, the 24-year-old marksman said: “I’m really happy to win the award, especially having not been here for too long and happy to help my team-mates.

“They received me very well right from the start. We’re good team-mates, we help each other out. But not only the players, also the staff and the manager have really helped me.

“I’m also really happy to have the start that I’ve had and I hope to continue performing this way.”

Duran, speaking to CelticPlayer, added: “I came here and my objectives were to win titles and, hopefully, to represent the Colombian national team.

“If I keep performing the way I am then I know I’ll be closer to that.

“I just take it day by day and game by game. But I know if I keep working the way I am, that many more goals are coming.”

The Saints defence could be in for a busy evening when the teams lock horns tomorrow night.
