Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67

Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67: Victor Wanyama didn’t get booked.

21-year-old Victor is a fabulous talent but he has also been a tad rash in his earlier Champions League outings this season.  One more yellow card will bring a suspension but his timing, and more importantly, his concentration, on Wednesday was excellent. This is a player maturing; more to come.

The 1254125 charity cycle left Lurgan this morning for Belfast port where they caught a ferry to Cairnryan. After they set wheel on Scotland they have a 37 mile cycle to Maybole, 7 miles of which is uphill, one of the most difficult parts of the endeavour.

They are people with the spirit of this club pumping through their veins right now. Check out their everyclick page for more information.

  1. Hibs were coasting but conceded a howler. 2-1 to Hibs now. Re the game today, its a square sausage job.

  2. CELTIC: Forster; Matthews, Ambrose, Wilson, Mulgrew; Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Commons; Miku, Samaras

Subs: Zaluska, Lustig, McCourt, Kayal, McGeouch, Ibrahim, Watt

Looks like a fairly strong side-Neil picking the best formation available to him, injuries permitting.

  4. The thing I like most and least about that selection is the left hand side. On the one hand we have Kris Commons, in terrific form especially at LM, who gave what I think is the best individual display I’ve seen under NL’s tenure. However, he is paired with Mulgrew at LB, and while I rate both players highly, they have a stinking record there (4 pts from 12) and have only once looked good together. Hope that changes today.

While Brown/Matthews’ record (7 from 15) is also poor, I like the industry of Brown and the way it suits attacking wingers like Matthews and Lustig. Matthews today needs to have the confidence to get forward, knowing Brown will cover for him.

Sammi didn’t even look 50% v Barca, so it looks like Lenny believes he needs games. He may also be wary of giving Watt a start – too much too soon and all that.

  5. My mother called me yesterday to say she was coming over for a visit, my wife and kids were out of the house. I was watching the EPL as I usually do when the Tic are not playing.

When my Mum arrived she said I have brought you something. It was my great Uncle Gerald’s medals from the second world war. I thought of the last day I saw him alive.

He was in the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow. My Dad and I were back on holiday and went up to see him in hospital. It was a miserable cold rainy day in Glasgow with dark clouds present all day. He was hooked up to all sorts of tubes in this depressing old place. He had carried his scars and injuries for fifty years now. He was delighted to see us and held onto my hand the whole time, with tears and joy in his eyes for our visit. I prayed for him that day as we left. My Uncle Gerald died later that week.

Sometimes this whole poppy debate makes me sick to my stomach and I wish we would put it to bed once and for all!

We are supposed to be an all inclusive club and support.

    God Bless You Uncle Gerald

  6. I really hope there’s a huge turnout at Parkhead today. I wish I could be there myself to honour The Bhoys, The Manager, The whole incredible Club, and the greatest fans it’s been my privilege to be amongst.

The people around where I was seated on Weds. night went a long way in making it one of the mst memorable times in my life. Thank you to all in and around Section 108.

And thanks again to ‘shady’ for my ticket.

And to my brother, ‘larrybhoy’ for being there for me (he was at the match, too).

    HH!
