Kilmarnock are unbeaten across five League Cup and three league games this season, although all the latter ended in draws (home to Livingston, away and Hibs and Motherwell). The only black mark came as they dropped the points on penalties, after a 0-0 League Cup draw at Kelty Hearts. Their solitary win over a top flight side came in a 2-0 over Dundee United in the second round of the League Cup.
Brendan Rodgers big decision will be who to fill the gap created by injuries to Alistair Johnston and Anthony Ralston. Colby Donovan (turned 19 last week) is a natural right back who played against Livingston and Kairat. Having come through the development leagues in Scotland, he will also be more than familiar with plastic pitches.
The more experienced Marcelo Saracchi made his Celtic debut when he replaced Kieran Tierney at Ibrox two weeks ago. Marcelo is a left back who has played on the right before. Most expectations are likely to favour the Uruguayan getting the nod but that plastic will play on the manager’s mind. I would be tempted to go with Colby.
It will read as tongue-in-cheek, but we have an interest in whether Hearts drop points at Ibrox tomorrow. The Edinburgh side are joint top with Celtic, whereas the Ibrox outfit are not even in the top six. We are accustomed to looking locally for a challenge but that situation is fluid. Tony Bloom’s Hearts takeover will become relevant soon. Another Ibrox draw would be a decent outcome, although all we can do is look after ourselves.

Friday!
Has CQN signed up Paul?
“all we can do is look after ourselves.”
——–
If only…….
Kilmarnock could be a banana skin.
First chant of “sack the board” will set the tone for a bad day.
Hopefully Brendan is more clever with his interviews and does not leave a trail of material for the media to misinterpret.
CQN should not put its name to clownshow of spoiled brats.
An T
signed
The board want your season ticket money and you all gave it to them.
Then in a matter of weeks you want to sack the board.
How can this be doable when fans give away their only power?
Paul67 et al
One thing is for sure, the support will be behind the Celtic team when the game kicks off aganst the Killie…
Behind the Stand that is……
Another blog, another day without addressing the massive unification of the fans against the board.
Anyone else hearing Basil Fawlty doing his “Don’t mention the war . . ..” skit?
Agree re Donovan. He seems to be familiar with the “system” and is hoping to be at the hoops for a while. Give him a chance.
DeniaBhoy:
Maybe this blog has the same contempt for the paying customers of Celtic as the board.
Spoiled children unable to recognise what’s good for them.
This blog’s isolation from the broader movement will be remembered for years to come.
Amazing that anyone would think there’s any benefit that comes from that.
Dramarama James. You keep your petted lip son.
It’s going to become increasingly difficult to discuss the playing squad on here, without referencing the recent, disappointing transfer window and our (in my opinion) disjointed recruitment model.
Equally, it’s going to become tougher to ignore the bigger story out there. Arguably, the biggest fan movement since Celts for Change.
One could argue whether that style of journalism is lazy or just dismissive

………
The fans are showing the board and everybody else how clueless they are.
How many fans are actually aware that Brendan left all of his signings from last season on the bench as we failed to defeat Almaty, csoting the club £40 million, whilst at the same time, moaning about not having enough players?
How many articles did you write about it?
Celtic elephant in the room quick news?
How many monikers is that Kev?

Absolutely. Pravda would be proud…
Hi Celts we are boogered.
Our board have decided to invite all monikers belonging to our kejV,
:-)))

As I’m sure you are aware ‘Pravda’ is Russian for truth.
Izvestia, which means news, might be a better fit.
Donovan to start for me . Apart from owt else , he’s our player , he’s good enough (from what I’ve seen) , and we need to show our young players that there’s a future for them at Celtic .
As for CQN ignoring the current earthquake …. totally expected .
Celtic Mac on 12th September 2025 1:06 pm
Perfect! Spasibo….
Should have been a window to make a Statement Of Intent. Instead we got a Statement Of In Tent….
onenightinlisbon
Of course as the ol’ Russian proverb says….
There is no truth in Pravda….
And there is no news in Izvestia….
I can see John Kennedy getting wheeled out for the presser today, might take some heat out of the situation, and concentrate on the team for Sunday
James Forrest – Absolutely.
I don’t know Paul and I have no reason to speak ill of him. His blog, however, no longer does what it says on the tin. I think back to the early days when the title and tagline for CQN had merit. And I think it had merit beccause Paul had a good relationship with PL and perhaps other members of the board. That allowed him to provide timely news without the usual tabloid spin. It worked well for CQN and for the Board. So well that Paul was often invited onto TV and radio to provide the Celtic fan’s angle on whatever was going on.
Those days have changed. Over the years Paul’s posts have become an easy target for those wishing to paint him as a board lackey. Why? Because he finds it damn near impossible to bite the hand that used to feed him so well. That, I imagine, is due to his friendship with PL and a sense of loyalty to him and the others who helped him establish CQN. Very understandable if that is the case.
But it means in times like this, the wider Celtic fan base see CQN as a complete irrelevance with a rapidly diminishing reach. It is a talking shop for perhaps a couple of dozen regulars. We enjoy the debate and the banter but the social media caravan has moved on while we are still barking at each other.
Paul will not change his stance on this particular crisis, which is his right. But “Quick News”? No, that ship has sailed. An alternative to “Lazy Journalism”? It often still is as long as it is not about transfer window, the board or Brendan Rodgers. Unfortunately for Paul, that is pretty much the only stuff that people want to discuss at present.

Superb!
glasstwothirdsfull
There is a famous saying from LBJ on that subject…
But since this is a family show I wont quote it…
Yep another day passes with no mention of the BR Sun story, the very significant supporter mobilisation that is currently ongoing or the glib club statement. It is remarkable that a Celtic FC supporters blog with the strap line “Celtic News Not Lazy Jounalism” doesn’t touch these hottest of hot topics.
Its clear that P67 is the voice of the board/executive so we can only assume that that collectively they have nothing to say or add which is as worrying as it is sad.
Are we to assume that don’t care that a red top runs a hit piece against our employee, that a hugely significant number of its supporters/customers/financial contributors are so pissed off with them that they consider unprecedented actions against the club or that their place holding statement has been ridiculed from top to bottom and enflamed the current situation. Or perhaps worse than not caring is having no idea how to fix any of it?
As mentioned previously they could have stated that the Sun piece was shocking, not in their name or taken action against them – that would have put one fire out sharply but nothing…….. why? Part of it? or quite happy to have that narrative out there?
I’ve no idea if they don’t care or don’t know how to fix any of it but what bothers me most is my own sense of growing apathy. Been through the good and the bad but this ambitionless, self harming executive drain the enthusiasm and even after hitting the buffers badly this past few weeks show no signs of contrition or lessons learned.

JF Maybe this blog has the same contempt for the paying customers of Celtic as the board.
AT -What do you mean James?
Paying fans James not customers, some for generations, some since the place was dug out
JF-Spoiled children unable to recognise what’s good for them.
AT- A well run club who have mismanaged a few tfer windows and are remote from fans in terms of shareholder democracy
JF-This blog’s isolation from the broader movement will be remembered for years to come.
AT- I think you empower all blogs pointlessly,as I said just because a poster is on here does not mean to say they agree/disagree with the blog narrative.
Cqn in your opinion is isolated, well that’s good,I want a blog with a range of opinion from B78 to you,I don’t want personally to read elsewhere bout being pitchfork ready,we only need to look at the huns to see how uniform opinions with no direction take them nowhere
JF-Amazing that anyone would think there’s any benefit that comes from that.
AT- You dont James, you benefit on your own blog which blocks dissent, that’s easy, don’t take it on block it,your blog, your bag,you are not read as imo you don’t open the floor, take those opposite opinions on
I would say try harness opinions of folk with Board experience, managerial experience, financial and economic strategists, the Celticsphere is laiden with good Celtic men, just like those on our board, the ones I know Celtic fans since a wean.
HH
But given according to !!bada bing!! John Kennedy is hosting the Press conference….
can we expect something along the lines of;
“Ask not what Celtic Football Club can do for you”
“Ask what you can do for Celtic Football Club”
Kilmarnock away always a worry – nothing to do with Kilmarnock but that pitch is a joke
What option will Brendan take at the Press Conference ?
a) Support the Board try and preach togetherness and all is good
b) Distance himself from the Summer transfer window, express disappointment but accept his lot
c) Be blunt and acknowledge the action of the fans (they can’t all be wrong !)
d) Ignore the circus and focus on 3 points on Sunday
67ECW
I’d imagine Brendan has asked John Kennedy to step in today. That’s probably a smart move from him.
Kennedy could be taking pressers for some weeks I suspect.
Celtic Mac
I think I know the one you mean:-)
FWIW.
I’m as frustrated as the next man that CQN – Paul67 – does not address the urgent issue of the day
However his site his rules – I respect the fact that he puts the time in to give us all a platform to share our thoughts
But with the greatest respect to Paul67 – it doesn’t matter what he writes most on here will discuss the issue of the day anyway
As long as Paul67 gets paid everybody is happy (well maybe not James Forest)
Nothing to see here
67ECW
Celtic Mac- I never said he was,I said he might
I want the Diet’s to beat the Full Fats every time !!!!
Games at Rugby Park are quite often frustrating affairs.
Once in a while we click, are able to move the ball and our players at pace across a dreadful pitch, and we blow them away.
An LB playing RB is more likely to come inside, which will slow the game down.
Colby is a right back who likes to get on the move.
We’ve got two players earmarked for that position.
Both are injured.
Tough. 5h1t happens. Deal with it.
Play Colby.
!!bada bing”
Thought you were watching the presser in real time and could see Big John “getting wheeled out”
BTW – NUFC Quick news must be in meltdown.
Hot on the heels of a Scottish school stealing their champions league tickets ….
(And a private school to boot ! )
Now looks like they’ve signed two crocks in Wissa and Ramsey.
Who does their recruitment?
Why did their star striker want to leave? Surely the romance of playing for such a passionate group of fans at a special club should be enough?
The group owning the club have stacks of money. Why don’t they just spend it?
