When you are full of confidence, every game is anticipated with a sense of purpose. A ‘Bring ‘em on’ attitude lifts poor sides to great heights. When a team are on a losing streak, no game looks easy. Dundee United have won one game in all competitions since September, a 3-1 win over St Mirren seven weeks ago. Jim Goodwin is not in the position he endured in the late stages at Aberdeen, however, he needs any win almost as much as Wilfried Nancy.
United are the only Premiership side Celtic have yet to face this season, but there are reasons for more caution. They have played clubs from the top half of the table eight times, drawing twice with Newco and once each with Hibs and Hearts, once with Motherwell. Hearts and Motherwell managed wins against them, while United beat Aberdeen.
This trend was further evidenced by their home and away draws with Rapid Vienna, who enjoyed over 60% possession in each game, before eventually prevailing on penalties.
United’s problem lies when playing weaker sides who defend and give them the ball, their strength is playing on the counter. Goodwin’s gameplan for tomorrow is well-rehearsed and ready. On this issue, he will have the advantage tomorrow.
An interesting aspect of these games is the amount of goals scored. There were four 2-2 draws, a 3-3 and a 2-3. United are conceding like a team near the bottom of the table but score on the break more effectively than most. Saturday’s 0-0 with Motherwell was only their second clean sheet in 19 games since playing Luxembourgers in July.
Wilfried Nancy will know to expect Celtic will have chances and to defend against counter-attacks at Tannadice. That, at least, is one consolation for our new manager.

833pm….pseudo intellect right enough….ffs
The best way to treat ignorance is humour
Real intellect on both cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias based on research can be found by a google search combining both words.
Very interesting.
Birds of a feather. . . .

A very factual post and needed due the lack of scrutiny of the host and his misdirection on the root causes ( which is ridiculed even more every time he tries).
I do go back to Nancys low key unveiling at Lennoxtown not Celtic Park with no supporting act on the day of a World Cup draw. Why was Iit done in this manner on that day.
Presumably the meeting in London was with DD, MN & RD ; Did the Desmond’s say yes and silence is acceptance from the mute CEO.
Did Nicholson return to base and tell his benefactor that they had picked a dud. Did Lawwell have the cunning plan to distance himself and the Scottish execs from what was about to come. Already I hear assurances been given that Lawwell was not involved. Lawwell does not leak anything without a reason.
Did they just all roll over, picked that day make it low key as a clever way to bury bad news.
DD would have headed pack to the driving range perplexed about the low key announcement —- he has probably worked out now as he will have heard Lawwell is distancing himself from it.
More to come.
Wheels within wheels.

60,000 Old Firm suckers throwing £1,000 per season ticket at the PLC.
AND THEN.
One month later you are all singing “SACK THE BOARD” like a bunch of spoiled brats, ARE THE PROBLEM.
60,000 Empty Heads who could not see Brendan Rodgers speaking out of both sides of his mouth AFTER every Transfer Window, ARE THE PROBLEM!
60,000 Blind/Dim/Dumb/Stupid clownshow who did not see Rodgers keeping the ENTIRE TRANSFER WINDOW INTAKE FROM LAST SEASON, sitting on the bench behind poor we Rodgers as he could not lay a glove on mighty Kiarat Almaty, ARE THE PROBLEM!
AND THEN.
Rodgers whined about not having enough players with all of last years players sitting on the bench watching Rodgers blowing £40 million CL money pot??????
Did Rodgers have a bet on Celtic failing to qualify for the CL group stages????
Did Rodgers have a bet on Aberdeen winning last seasons SCF????
Same tactics = same outcome = stupid manager.
And before you deflect:
NO. I don’t have a season ticket to support chicanery from a clique full of cheap punks!
Have a good life!

On Nancy having watched the latest interview he is clearly a Stoic, so focuses on what is within his control and ignores everything else, as that’s viewed as wasted energy. Hence all the performance over winning stuff, and “nothing to prove to others” statements. A good mental tool for development and stress control (which he will be appreciating now!).
However, it’s not a good message to be giving the media, as will be reported in whatever sensational way they can which sows discontent. And if his general communication is as opaque to a bunch of 20 something athletes from a different country, his ideas will likely take time to translate.
Not the ideal timing for an appointment of this nature. In my mind it’s a similar theme to being unsuitably prepared for European qualifiers for several years. For whatever reasons the actual football side of things is asked to prepare in a much shorter time frame than other clubs, which has led to struggles on the pitch.
Change has to happen in any walk of life, but managing that change successfully is a skill we need to learn.

Yeah, I agree, he also kept touching his face which is often seen as a sign of hiding something or being disingenuous. To be fair, he must be under more scrutiny than he could ever have imagined.

It was the self assuring arm, neck and face touching like your being cuddled and re assured as a child
In body language the constant touching of arms, neck face and head when being asked awkward questions reveal inner turmoil or angst
It was very revealing, whether he didnt like the questioning or did not want to answer, or just felt uncomfortable (at one point he had he head in the nook of his arm)
It got worse the longer the conference went on, and more frequent
The Celtic media team need to get some training done on this

I see what you did there 😀
a double entendre indeed
“Fifa has introduced a small number of “more affordable” $60 (£45) tickets for all 104 matches at the 2026 World Cup following criticism of its pricing structure for the tournament. The discounted ticket will allow entry to a carpark within the footprint of the stadium where the match is played and the match can be watched on a state of the art Jumbotron – especially manufactured for World Cup 2026.
A Fifa official close to discussions said: “We have listened to feedback and this new category is the right thing to do” – adding the decision was unanimous.
Under the previous pricing structure, which the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) call “scandalous”, it would have cost a fan more than £5,000 to follow England at every match to the final.
The £45 ticket falls in the ‘supporter entry tier’, the lowest priced category, and will make up 10% of the allocation for each football association whose team is taking part in a competition being hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Clunks, – It’s surprising as my gut feel would be the MLS would have a big focus on media training but maybe not. I had a wee look for an old interview and he had similar body language for a run of the mill interview when at Columbus, hugging, face touching, generally looks a bit uncomfortable. Not as extreme but similar. So yeah, some training would help him.

Some excellent, interesting posts today…
The Battered Bunnet @ 3:38 pm,
The auldy, why have they got all that cash in the bank conundrum!?
If you can’t suss it, then I’ve no chance.
Yet let me go back to a time that I could see a possible strategy.
It was when Big Pedro was a mover and shaker in the ECA (small fry division), and there was talk of a euro~super~liga
Now if it went to two divisions, which we believed was the proposal, Celtic would be in the second teir.
Celtic certainly seemed to be making some plans for that…
The Disco~Lights, a propsal for a Hotel attached to the stadium, Celtic Park a destination (museum et al), a feasibility study on the main stand.
Now say that had come to pass – and let’s face it, the ongoing litigation suggests some were taking it very, very seriously – Celtic would be facing an expodential growth pattern.
My basic back of the fag numbers at the time were this – ECA Div 2/1
Club Value Club Revenue
100 million, 100 million – Year One
200 million, 200 million – Year Two
400 million, 400 million – Year Three
Now of course to fund that would take serious financial planning.
The way I saw it…
The money in the bank helps with the increase in initial cash flow.
The largest minority shareholder underwrites another share issue that sees him very much a majority shareholder and lots of cash floods into the “Club”.
Now – this didn’t come pass, of course, we got the new format UCL, EUL, ECL, instead.
So what is your point caller?
The euro~super~liga is – the Desmond “City Airport” pay day, soccer stylee – when European Football is pinnicled by a Euro Super League and the Celtic Glasgow will be there.
Now, who benefits from this?
Dermot? His Children, or His Great Grand Children, or His Great, Great Grand Children…
Doesn’t matter – the holding position remains as long as it takes.
They are in it for the long haul – while he builds his dynasty…
Ross at the AGM…
“He [Dermot Desmobd] wants the club to be healthy, successful and still thriving decades and even centuries from now.”
This current little local difficulty is all part of the long journey.
Hail Hail
rebuswad
its just pressure
You can’t simulate that
The pressure of constant questioning over 6 or 7 press conferences have led to reactions like we have just seen
Now is the time to step in (as the media team) and have him watch back and adjust
Just like he would do with his team
I find it highly ironic reading Nancys tweets history and reading about Guru managers here.
It’s unfortunate we have gone for glasnost and perestroika in about 5 mins and handed the keys to the Honda to a LinkedIn nut job
Hunterlopers are enjoying tonight
Whether Nancy makes it or not,he looks a lonely man with no support, been isolated since his first press conference IMO
Have the club not got a social media use policy Clunks that was effectively for players to abide by… because they didn’t ever think the manager would take to twitter to broadcast his woes?
This is only a few days after he said the noise doesn’t impact him?
Hunterloper – that really hurt after two decades reading that pish on here
Lope on!!

Feel very sorry for him, but the tickets for our end are sold out I read
Win with Wilfried ✌🏽
Not sure how much the low key announcement was due to the board or Nancy
We cant be sure on what decisions were made and by whom
Same as when St Martin said he had 15 minute handover, then later said it was much longer (listen to the interview NOT the sound byte)
Then later said he would have stayed on IF he was asked
Many agenda’s being scratched on an already dusty record
We must never point the finger at the man crushed beneath the boulder, struggling up the mountain.
His struggle is not the failure, it’s the symptom.
The true failure belongs to those who selected him for an impossible task, who saw his strength and confused it for an infinite capacity to bear their poor judgment.
Our blame must be reserved for the archiitects of preventable hardship, not for those who endure it.
Laxalt,
Hi mate, I’m not particularly familiar with your Monika ( though your posting style is familiar? ) but I can see you’re not quite yourself it seems. Coming onto a Celtic site and challenging other Monika’s to £200 bets, and calling them Hunbassa’s is maybe your coping mechanism for our unfamiliar position at the moment, who knows.
Not sure what you were referring to, but since I’m mostly only doing humour today (my day off), I tend not to take anything too seriously especially CQN. We are after all, just Sellic supporters, and if we can’t make fun of ourselves, we can’t make fun of anyone, – can we?
Anyway sorry again, maybe you’re a humour vacuum, or maybe look up satire, – it’s in the dictionary under satire.
Enjoy the match 👍

“Now is the time to step in (as the media team) and have him watch back and adjust”
Given he shows no signs of learning from his errors, wasted an opportunity by only spending 15 minutes with MoN, why would he take on board any feedback or advice from the media team?
Today’s press conference was 15 minutes of waffle from a man who has made little attempt to win over the fans, is a subject of ridicule to opposition, and, I suspect has the players totally confused.
Noticeably he rarely mentions fans in his press events and I hear very little about individual players.
Its all me me me / my philisophy.
When do you ever see a new manager at his first press conference on his own?
Clashcitybhoy
I agree…
