Recency bias is powerful. We remember and place more emphasis on things which happened most recently compared to things which happened before that. The time period between the recent event and what went before is not important.
Play poorly for 75 minutes and end the game with a strong 15 minutes and, if you have poor perspective, your mind will put more weight on the closing 15 minutes. Newco fans and their manager clearly suffer from poor perspective with respect to recency bias.
Repeatedly against Celtic this season they performed poorly for the majority of the game, but post-match found comfort that their best period came late on. This happened again after the Scottish Cup Final, despite losing to a 90th minute winner. Let them swim in irrelevant consolation all summer.
I am a bit concerned about our own recency bias. Reo Hatate had a poor final. Everyone around me at Hampden was asking the same question, ‘When will he replace Reo?’. The only surprise was it took until the 78th minute until Paulo Bernardo came on and transformed the outcome.
The recency bias part of your brain will be telling you: Reo – poor, Paulo – good. The memory of where we were when Reo was injured and the midfield was so dysfunctional is well buried by soothing recency.
I don’t know what was wrong with Reo on Saturday, or even his last time out against Newco, when he also underperformed, but when he returned to fitness he transform Celtic and was crucial in our run to the title. Don’t let a touch of recency bias fool you into thinking otherwise.

Michael Kelly come home…..you were correct on March 4th 1994 when you said…
“Today 04 / 03 / 1994 will be remembered as the day that the Glasgow Celtic Football and Athletic Company Ltd…lost its soul.
The new way forward is what the fans want, but, although it won’t feel that way just now…in some years down the road….fans will start to say to each other, “Oh my…what have we done?”
We need to be honest and upfront about the Rangers – Sevco issue…like the old board would have been, and in my opinion…All seting was rouse to get Wall Street bankers controlling Celtic FC through the backdoor. 👀️
The Kelly’s and White’s allowed up to 30% – 40% of Parkhead attendances in to the stadium free of charge, with a lift over the turnstiles.
And then 20 – 30 years down the road, the Kelly’s and White’s were accused of pocketing 30% 40% of the gate money, by today’s [Carefully planted onto Celtic fan blogs] a clique of PLC board lickers who have little to zero to say about the PLC Corruption, Crookedness, Crassness against the only section of fans, The Green Brigade, who prevent the All Seated ea Parkhead from becoming a boring library? 👀️
Dozens of uncontested trophies in a One Horse environment will never stack up as some sort of reason as to why 60,000 All seated era Celtic fans would rather suck corruption…as opposed to sacking this era of corruption without depth…a bottomless PLC pit of sleekit cowardice.
Was it the Kelly’s and White’s fault that Thatcher’s goons sacrificed 97 innocent Liverpool fans in the Government Psyop [Psychological Operation] in 1989, so that the ‘deep state’ could spin the narrative that Football Terraces were ‘unsafe’ and would immediately need to become All Seated?
I’ve stood in Hampden with 100,000+ sized crowds without a single glimmer of feeling unsafe whilst standing, apart from before the Alcohol ban which removed most of the missiles.
Get the Kelly’s and White’s back….and get rid of the REAL crooked PLC grifters.
Sack the New Board – Reinstate The Old Board – And become thrifty!
Thrifty and Cute and Ballsy and Handsome is the Celtic way, pulling rabbits out of hats, is the Celtic Way.
The All Seated 60,000 Celtic View brainwashed fan bhoys era sucks.

MAJESTIC HARTSON on 27TH MAY 2024 9:00 PM
Just a suggestion –
I remember occasionally having a live Q&A in here Willie Wallace springs to mind…
If WeeRon could arrange and Tom Campbell was up for it, would there be value in having a couple of hours of Tom’s knowledge answering any questions we may have?
MAJESTIC HARTSON….
I think that Tom would enjoy that. I suspect that he’d prefer to do it by email, where he could take his time in formulating his answers. He could send the answers back to you and you could post them as and when you see fit. I’ll ask him.
Cheers,
Weeron
Alex Gordon’s piece on this site it good. Big Phil is something else when it comes to the excuses he pulls out.
I reckon a lot of their support are aware of this and if we win our next game against them – at Celtic Park – they’ll start putting pressure on him.
As they say – it’s better to offer no excuse than a bad one.
WeeRon
Thanks for passing that on to Tom.
I can’t remember where I heard that about Mr Horne’s religion. Tom’s correction of my misunderstanding says
even more about Mr Horne’s integrity as a man and a journalist.
I will get in contact with P67 to get him to send you my e mail. I would be delighted to take up Tom on his offer to have an exchange by e mail.

I think the only thing missing from the celebrations, after winning the Cup, was when all the Celtic players went in front of the Celtics supporters. That was time that Joe Hart should have got his hands on a football, placed it on the penalty spot and slotted it into the goal.

“Peter Lawwell is the non-executive chairman. People miss the non-executive part all the time. He’s not in the day-to-day running of the club. Michael Nicholson is running the show – he’s the chief executive. Celtic are a PLC board. I do think if there was a perceived power struggle, then Brendan Rodgers has won it.”

The only recurring theme over the last few decades is how they have got away with so many things on the field and yet somehow they are the victims. I suppose it stems from the fact that their Club custodians drove their first Club off a cliff but somehow it was all everyone else’s fault.
I know watching the Cup final that we have either green or blue tinted specs on but really there were 4 or 5 major decisions which went against them, really? There was probably something in the push by Scales but it was outside the box, the referee saw it and VAR could not intervene. But what others? I know for sure we should have had VAR look at the the handball in the first half as well as the kick out not once but twice on Maeda, as well as the wild lunge by Lunstrum on O’Reilly, he was clearly out of control and endangering an opponent.
I suppose you don’t see these when in fact you are watching the game with red mist tinted specs and steam coming out of your ears!

Cameron Carter-Vickers praised manager Brendan Rodgers for ensuring Celtic maintained the confidence and composure required to end a challenging campaign with double glory.
The Hoops looked to be losing their way as city rivals Rangers roared back midway through the league campaign to briefly overtake them at the top in February.
But Celtic found their stride when it mattered most and claimed 25 points from their closing nine matches to secure the league title before beating Gers in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.
“There was always that belief, and to be fair to the manager I think that’s what he did well for us,” said defender Carter-Vickers. “He kept us believing and kept a calmness in the group.
“We’re a positive group and we knew that if we worked together and played for each other we’d get there in the end.
“I think we came to life towards the end of the season probably due to a combination of things. Whenever any club gets a new manager, it always takes a little bit of time for their ideas to settle into the group and stuff like that.
“Towards the end of the season I think you saw the fruits of what we were doing earlier in the season.”

Thank you, Brendan.

Why I shouldn’t have doubted Celtic under Brendan Rodgers

Uefa and Fifa were wrong to ban clubs from joining the breakaway European Super League, a Spanish court has ruled.
Spanish court rules in favour of Super League creators
27 May 2024
Madrid’s commercial court said the European and world governing bodies were practising anti-competitive behaviour and abusing their dominant position.
However, Uefa says the ruling is not an endorsement of the ESL or backing of any proposal.
A similar decision was made by the European Court of Justice in December.
The case was brought by A22 Sports Management, the company behind the ESL, against Uefa, Fifa, Spain’s La Liga and the Spanish football federation (RFEF).

Double winners.
Still buzzin’
Great outcomes delivered after a tough season.
I hope we can be a unified force next season that gets behind a strengthened squad.
Respectfully .. IMHO .. CQN’s contribution to that unification could begin with us setting aside recollections and arguments about who said what during the more difficult times across December to March.
Would it both fair and accurate to say that each of us had our doubts about our ability to win the league this year …. with the strength of those doubts depending on where your personal dial was set ?
For some it was very low. For others, very high. With a big group in the middle?

Setting aside the fact this is a blatant red card offence by Dirty Diamonde … this one made me chuckle at the time.
Watch closely the last second of footage.
Daizen sees daftie coming in to barge him …. and, almost imperceptibly, simply lifts his elbow above Lundstrum’s elbow joint.
Result?
With his body weight behind him the plastic hard man accelerates into a pointed elbow.
Went through to Glasgow yesterday, meet up with a fellow Celtic supporter in Rab Hawes for a coffee and a delicious Morton roll with a egg and a tattie scone mmmmm,we then went to the stadium were we noticed men working on the pitch again, seen it on Sunday when the legends were playing, a lot of money got spent on that pitch and they still have problems with it.

Hi McPhail Bhoy, hope yir champion :-)))
Good poser mate, the damage Minty has reeked on their psyche seeps through them now in total denial of their own reality.
Sir Hunner of Pence fed the hubris,£10 for £5,team for Europe team for Scotland, all being played on floating stadia witb original Ronaldo watchin from stands as he couldnt get into the fantasies crayoned in their controlled media.
They were ‘ra people’ yeh tbe people Her majesty ended. They awoke and the ball was on the hedge at Brechin! No insight or learning into how they got there, the hubris and the needy attitude needed fed like an addicted junkie.hence we had ex hearts player,(name escapes me)ex painter and decorator kickin bout in a Rolls Royce while in the 4th tier.
The attitudes extended to the sfa,the only fa in europe whose match officials do not reveal the team they support, best wishes and pleas for hopeful decision passed thro the knuckle in Lanarkshire.
Now with a reasonably successful quarter century under our belt some of peepil junkies are flailin due to the claws no longer being able to harang the game of football,it is our game, all have a chance and those whose entitlement diseased the game now have to play fairly with no inbuilt bias, thats why they play the victim,i sometimes think they’d be better askin if they could cheat, but tbey have no insight into it under Minty, they would always try it in a dodgy way.
They will wail for years bout the goal, its the new roy aitken shy in 89.Scalesy challenge was outside the box,am glad Sterling stopped before ending up in kings park.not a word on
-Balaagoon/Davies both tacklin kyogo in the box
-Davies handball in box from Kyogos low header
-Lungestrum slidin assault on Matt O’ Reilly
-Diamonde kicking Daizen Maeda in stomach
They are like a tantrummin wean/cold turkey on the hubris, all fed ably by a meeja vying to be favourite, the BonnieLangfords who are going to skweam n skweam alas they are 2nd best.
Hope you had a great day saturday bout the town,it was a privelege being at Hampden a great day here.Hope to get over start of September and will spend an hour or 2 bout the town :-) before goi out home
All the best

Like yourself I thought that Scales’ shove had conceded a clear foul in a dangerous area. But on viewing the incident again on TV I think that, immediately before the Scales ‘foul’, the Rangers forward had barged into Greg Taylor. So, Scales didn’t perpetrate the initial
infringement.
