Record correct, SFA prepare to disband Appellate Panel

1122

This morning’s article in the Daily Record is not a work of fiction.  They reported that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan’s “bid to deliver a broad consensus over the way forward also involved discussions over the appellate tribunal’s transfer embargo on Rangers.”

In short, the SFA discussed changing their rules to disband the Independent Appellate Panel process before instructing Lord Carloway to sit in response to the Court of Session’s rejection of his previous judgement.

With two further Independent Judicial Tribunals still to sit in judgement on the actions of Rangers, for the illegal registration of players and non-payment of social taxes during the EBT era, the SFA will also subvert these rules before ‘Rangers’ are expelled from the Association.

After the meeting Regan left for his summer vacation without instructing Lord Carloway to convene the Appellate Panel.

That’s not all.

The scam to establish an SLP 2 in order to allow the SFA and SPL to co-opt ‘Rangers’ into that league is what the governing bodies have planned for your game.

If rules are changed AFTER a club is found guilty and in receipt of a penalty in order to nullify that penalty the game in this country is broke, ethically and financially.  Having established independent judicial panels to deal with serious rule breaches the SFA cannot do Rangers bidding without removing all judicial oversight.

We’re back to the days of George Peat walking in and out of hearings for the Celtic manager.

Most disturbingly of all, YOU are the cash cow for this outrageous enterprise.  With Rangers gone from the SPL Celtic fans bring all the commercial and television income into the game, and are set to buy more away ground tickets than all other clubs put together.

You are expected to continue to cough up for tickets to Tynecastle, Rugby Park etc, and subscribe to ESPN and Sky Sports – money which will divvied up among SPL 1 and SPL 2 teams, as well as they rest of the Scottish Football League clubs, to compensate for them missing out on a ‘Rangers’ game.

You will also pay more money for those tickets than any other group of fans in the league.  Why don’t you just write a cheque to Kilmarnock, Falkirk or Cowdenbeath today?

This nonsense will not bring another £1 into the game, all it will do is redistribute money from your pocket to clubs who care nothing for you.  Partick Thistle yesterday released a statement on their site, “We believe Scottish football needs to be restructured, financial distribution needs to be fairer for all clubs”.

“Financial distribution needs to be fairer”!  Patrick Thistle get to keep all their ticket sales, commercial and other income.  By “fairer” they mean they want some of your money.  If you agree with them, write them a cheque, but if you disagree, you better figure out what to do next.

Thoughts that some great victory has been achieved are premature.   Prepare for the next instalment.

Our domestic competition is, at best, uninspiring.  This disgusting land-grab for your cash will destroy our ability to compete in Europe, and it’s not just the senior team who will suffer.  The Celtic youth system costs millions to operate each year, don’t fantasise that it will survive intact.

Celtic currently employ 27 Scotland youth internationals.  They are almost single-handedly carrying the future of our national team.  This attempt to bleed your club dry will devastate all areas, with subsequent consequences for the Scotland team.

It’s not often I’ve told you the Daily Record have nailed a story but this one is on the money (your money).  I’m at a loss as to what to do next.

We cannot accept this.

We are through the looking glass now. Clearly the authorities are prepared to ignore or bend any rule to help Sevco, and I suspect if it comes to it that will mean postponing the start of the season too.

Looking glass. I like that and it’s very apt. :)

As for delaying the start of the season – will there be funds in place to tide over the clubs who can’t wait for the income from the first home game?

  5. So what happens if they allow Rangers to parachute into dividion 1 and they don’t win promotion a the first attempt? Presumably they will change the rules again to bring them up, like retrospectively awarding them 4 points for a win.

It’s what Jabba said about Neil Lennon when he had “his troubles”.

  8. Time for ESPN to rid viewers of the moron Burley

    Agent critical of ‘tiresome’ Burley

Neil Lennon’s agent has warned Craig Burley that he should get his facts right before criticising Celtic in his role as a television pundit.

Burley’s comments, while operating as a summariser for ITV during the Euro 2012 match between Ukraine and France on Friday, brought an angry response from the manager of the club where he previously played.

Through his newspaper column and on ITV, the former midfielder has been repeatedly critical of manager Lennon, chief executive Peter Lawwell and the Parkhead club.

He used the platform of his role on nationwide television to deliver what the Celtic hierarchy consider to be yet another unwarranted attack on the club.

Burley said of French substitute Yann M’Vila, who plays for Rennes, one of Celtic’s Europa Cup opponents last season: “I watched that player boss the game against Celtic, even though that wouldn’t be hard.”

This brought an angry response from Lennon, currently holidaying in Portugal, via his Twitter account, on which he remarked: “A certain ex-player is belittling the club and undermining our achievements.”

Lennon’s agent, Martin Reilly, explained what had so upset the Celtic manager.

Reilly said: “If you are going to have a pop at the club, Neil Lennon or Scottish football, you should a least make sure you get your facts right.

“M’Vila did not even play in the tie in Rennes when Celtic drew 1-1. And, in the return game at Parkhead, he was sent off as Celtic won 3-1.

“So, to bring Celtic into his comments during this Euro 2012 game told its own story, and it’s becoming quite tiresome.

“Craig Burley previously claimed that the championship Celtic have just won was devalued because of Rangers’ situation.

“Yet, he was calling for Neil Lennon to be sacked when he was 15 points behind in the same season.

“I believe this latest comment is just further proof that Craig Burley has a personal grievance against Scottish football, Neil Lennon and Celtic. For what reason, no-one can understand.”

Burley’s departure from Celtic in 2000, after two-and-a- half years as a player, was acrimonious but neither Lennon nor Lawwell was at the club at that time.

This adds to the difficulty the manager and chief executive have understanding why they believe they are the subject of so much vitriol from the former midfielder.

Last weekend, he used his Sunday newspaper column to opine that Lennon was struggling to cope and needed previous Parkhead manager Gordon Strachan to join him as part of his backroom team.

That irked Lennon, who took over from Tony Mowbray as manager two years ago and last month brought the SPL title back to the club for the first time in four seasons.

Celtic have elected to remain silent, in public at least, until this point, but the latest comments from Burley could now lead to the club taking action.

And I think they have to do this because they know that the fans in the SFL will say no to newco just like the SPL. Reconstruction is the only way but even then, surely the clubs involved have a say in who should be invited in?

I hope it’ll all be academic in any case. It doesn’t look like sevco will be ready in any shape or form to take part this year. Reconstruction for next year will be a different matter but at least there’ll be time for consultation.

Starry that guys quite good with his tweets, followed.

  18. I’ve got my seat for this season. However, integrity is important; it is worth fighting for because without it – there is no ‘competition’. If there is no competition – what are we actually paying for?

I don’t think the spirit of the McLeish report was presented as a template to prostitute Scotland with the sole purpose of hun gratification. The SFA/SPL/SFL have striped the sporting and social altruism from the McLeish report and are perversely pimping it on behalf of a club who stand ‘alone’ accused of cheating on a scale not ever seen anywhere else in the Football world since time began.

Never mind those that are proposing indecent change, they are moral and ethical pariahs, gutless sluts if you prefer the pavement vernacular; they have sold their souls to fear and the dollar.

Any clubs board that buy into this institutional prostitution are not only screwing their own fans, they are screwing themselves.

The clubs of Scotland’s boards members, they still have an opportunity to do the right thing. They can promote morals and decency over cheating and lies.

If, however, they buy into the whoring, then how can they ever advise their children about what is right and wrong? How can they ever preach morals to their kids with sincerity?

Their children will grow and remember their parents’ wisdoms and teachings and when they eventually appreciate that their fathers slagged their heart, mind and souls through weakness, then the grown child’s memory of their fathers pontifications will revolt them to the very core of their hearts.

They will look at their fathers with pain and disdain and their fathers will know what they have done and will be haunted to the grave by their cowardice, or worse, they will be haunted by their complicity in the cheating of a nation’s people’s hopes and values.

This goes above sporting integrity, like Alex Thompson says, we are messing with the building blocks of the society in which we choose to live in and at the moment, the mortar that binds it all together is putrid.

To promote coin over principles and values is anathema in any civilised society.

Maybe the SFA/SPL/SFL are just mirrors of the society that Scotland has become.

But I still hope that the good people of Scotland will do the right thing. I’m hoping Celtic PLC do the right thing, not to increase a dividend but to give an example to generations to come that we as a club, as a culture, as a sporting family, we did not sell our soul for toxic coin.

If that does not happen, I won’t be buying a ticket to the whores’ banquet next season.

I hope all of Scotland can appreciate the implications of what is being proposed.

  19. hen1rik at 09:30

I completely agree with you. I watch football as a sport, if they change the rules to suit a particular team then it is no longer a sport on a level playing field and I shall not be watching it. Or contributing in any way.

rangers are dead , a histerical club. No matter what any redtop says. They are third lanark. Newco , bury rnagers , zombie fc whatever you want to call them, the bigwigs in the SPL and SFA and SFL think that you can create a new club and that club sevco , sclub12pluslinesmen etc can be accomodated at whatever level of football league they (SPL, SFA, SPL) think that they can get away with. WRONG . Not going to happen. If it does then Scottish football goes nuclear. If it was just Celtic and Rangers sure this is plausible but REALITY is that supporters of all the other clubs support their team in spite of the obvious. They are the blood and oxygen of football. If every supporter of every club had no integrity newco will be in div 1. I don’t for one minute believe this, if I am wrong then Scottish Football is finished, for me. Don’t make me have to support the All Blacks Doncaster.

  21. As much as I would like them to disappear completely they will re-emerge in some form, or in multiple forms like some multi headed freak.

Even this far into the saga, the bulk of their support are still insistent that someone will appear to save them, they seem to be incapable of recognising that they could save themselves and are still waiting for that saviour to appear, I know if this was Celtic each of us would have but our hands in our pockets and made damn well sure our club was saved, maybe it’s because we have had to fight for our rights for generations, maybe it is what makes us different.

If they just stood up, took their medicine, asked to be demoted to the bottom of the SFL, and apologised for their actions of the past they could quite possibly have generated a decent amount of support from the other clubs in Scotland.

I know plenty of their supporters who are not in the funny handshake business, the unfortunate thing is the voice of the genuine supporter is steamrolled by the MSM and their fundamentalist support.

However, they have choosen to threaten, and in partnership with the MSM are trying to bully their way past any punishment, they are acting like kamakaze pilots only without any honour, the other clubs do not, like anyone, take kindly to being backed into a corner and will lash out.

Allowing a league restructure to happen so quickly will probably save them but it will kill everything else eventually, they will begin afresh, with no debt, no sanctions, and no change to their fundamentalist approach, this is what angers me, once again the criminal is portrayed as the victim and their ‘rights’ are the only rights that matter.

Our only hope is that UEFA and FIFA are actually paying attention, what is happening before our eyes is the formation of a rigged league structure for the benefit of one team who have consistently abused any and all regulations.

In this case I think what will save the situation is simply that newco is not ready. The authorities will show themselves to be corrupt and inept but in the end it will be futile. They will destroy the integrity of the game and there STILL won’t be a Rangers next year.
