Record correct, SFA prepare to disband Appellate Panel

1122

This morning’s article in the Daily Record is not a work of fiction.  They reported that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan’s “bid to deliver a broad consensus over the way forward also involved discussions over the appellate tribunal’s transfer embargo on Rangers.”

In short, the SFA discussed changing their rules to disband the Independent Appellate Panel process before instructing Lord Carloway to sit in response to the Court of Session’s rejection of his previous judgement.

With two further Independent Judicial Tribunals still to sit in judgement on the actions of Rangers, for the illegal registration of players and non-payment of social taxes during the EBT era, the SFA will also subvert these rules before ‘Rangers’ are expelled from the Association.

After the meeting Regan left for his summer vacation without instructing Lord Carloway to convene the Appellate Panel.

That’s not all.

The scam to establish an SLP 2 in order to allow the SFA and SPL to co-opt ‘Rangers’ into that league is what the governing bodies have planned for your game.

If rules are changed AFTER a club is found guilty and in receipt of a penalty in order to nullify that penalty the game in this country is broke, ethically and financially.  Having established independent judicial panels to deal with serious rule breaches the SFA cannot do Rangers bidding without removing all judicial oversight.

We’re back to the days of George Peat walking in and out of hearings for the Celtic manager.

Most disturbingly of all, YOU are the cash cow for this outrageous enterprise.  With Rangers gone from the SPL Celtic fans bring all the commercial and television income into the game, and are set to buy more away ground tickets than all other clubs put together.

You are expected to continue to cough up for tickets to Tynecastle, Rugby Park etc, and subscribe to ESPN and Sky Sports – money which will divvied up among SPL 1 and SPL 2 teams, as well as they rest of the Scottish Football League clubs, to compensate for them missing out on a ‘Rangers’ game.

You will also pay more money for those tickets than any other group of fans in the league.  Why don’t you just write a cheque to Kilmarnock, Falkirk or Cowdenbeath today?

This nonsense will not bring another £1 into the game, all it will do is redistribute money from your pocket to clubs who care nothing for you.  Partick Thistle yesterday released a statement on their site, “We believe Scottish football needs to be restructured, financial distribution needs to be fairer for all clubs”.

“Financial distribution needs to be fairer”!  Patrick Thistle get to keep all their ticket sales, commercial and other income.  By “fairer” they mean they want some of your money.  If you agree with them, write them a cheque, but if you disagree, you better figure out what to do next.

Thoughts that some great victory has been achieved are premature.   Prepare for the next instalment.

Our domestic competition is, at best, uninspiring.  This disgusting land-grab for your cash will destroy our ability to compete in Europe, and it’s not just the senior team who will suffer.  The Celtic youth system costs millions to operate each year, don’t fantasise that it will survive intact.

Celtic currently employ 27 Scotland youth internationals.  They are almost single-handedly carrying the future of our national team.  This attempt to bleed your club dry will devastate all areas, with subsequent consequences for the Scotland team.

It’s not often I’ve told you the Daily Record have nailed a story but this one is on the money (your money).  I’m at a loss as to what to do next.

We cannot accept this.

this is no longer some mad paronoid timmy scenario put about by the msm.

I felt a bit sorry for Charles Green last week, when it all seemed to be falling apart and I imagined a sad old man realising he’d been sold a pup.

But the way he’s dealt with the players (no matter what we might think of them) has been despicable. D&P miseld them and kept them in the dark. CG has lied to and threatened them.

Forget reconstruction and Div1 TV deals. There won’t be a Rangers in August.

Now if I were a member of Strathclyde CID I’d be asking purveyors of products of chemicals for hairdressing and hardware stores, nails – electric cable, to report on any sudden increase in sales of the aforementioned merchandise. The Hundead will be pure ragin’ that the players aren’t loyal true blues. Although the Police would probably just need to check posts on FF as the Hundead are so truly awe inspiringly stupid they’d post what their nefarious intentions were and who was going to ‘get it’.

Good shout Larry, here’s my effort….!

    “The Equality Standard for Sport

The Scottish FA is fully committed to promoting equity. Fairness, justice, respect for each other, inclusion, addressing inequalities and removing barriers are just some of the principles of equity that influence the Scottish FA’s development, delivery and decision making.”

Sounds like the statement of an organisation which treats all as equals and places honesty and integrity above all else doesn’t it….except it isn’t, is it….?!

Please explain to me, and I’m sure there are millions of others equally as desperate to hear, why the governing body of football in my country is trying to rush through league reconstruction barely a month before the start of a new season, parading it as for ‘the benefit of all’, when it is blatantly obvious that is solely to accommodate one semblance of a football club who are NOT even a member of the Association, currently have NO players, and have NEVER played even so much as a 5-a-side in training let alone a competitive football match….?!?!?!

For the record, I am 100% in support of change within Scottish football. There does however need to be a period of consultation between all member clubs and ruling bodies, and a considered, measured approach taken as the way forward. To rush this type of change through is likely to result in disastrous consequences for the game in general. Such monumental decision cannot be taken lightly, and the unavoidable perception that the reason for such haste is to accommodate the bastard child of RFC (IA) reeks not only of myopia, but also of cowardice.

I would also be particularly interested to hear the governing body’s stance on the alleged disbandment of the Independent Appellate Panel? Wasn’t this only recently introduced as part of the recommendations from the McLeish Report, voted for by all member clubs, and heralded as bringing the SFA’s judiciary process into the modern day?? Isn’t it just a little peculiar that a Panel is due to be convened to revisit the punishment meted out to RFC (IA) which they challenged in a Court of Law in yet another flagrant flouting of Association Articles and rules?! Isn’t said ‘club’ facing further rulings from the Panel regarding further, more serious breaches, of both sporting and civil regulations? Please do enlighten me as to how this action, if true, fits into the statement above taken verbatim from the SFA website?!

As for ‘decision making’ within the Scottish FA, then where exactly has this been over the past four months or so? The footballing fraternity of our nation has been looking to the SFA for governance and the application of its own rules throughout this period, and to date have witnessed very little of either. Now, when it looks like the guardian of our game has finally arisen from its slumber and finally decided to perform its duty, then ‘fairness’, ‘justice’, ‘respect for each other’, ‘inclusion’, (other than one soon to be defunct club), ‘addressing inequalities’ and ‘removing barriers’ all appear to be sadly lacking in said decisions.

Please remember you have a duty to act in the best interests of ALL member clubs, without fear or favour and without prejudice, and just as importantly you have to be SEEN to be acting in this manner. The perception of Machiavellian workings in our ruling body will be every bit as damaging to our national sport as the consequences of hasty, short-term decisions, and the people who matter are rapidly losing faith in your ability to govern…

  15. Afternoon all. Not been lurking or reading back since Friday. Was at Knights in Blantyre on Friday night. Excellent night. Many thanks to BT, John Fallon for tickets to a very enjoyable and informative evening.

Thanks to Paul McC, Paul B, Phil Mac and Archie Macpherson. Interesting answers to a variety of questions, and if some of the scenarios play out the way some of the panel think they will, the next few weeks could be very interesting.

Brought along a couple of friends who are not internet followers, one a Celtic fan, one a Motherwell fan, both lads absolutely blown away by the amount of information on the night.

Once again many thanks to all for organising and participating to produce a fantastic evenings entertainment. And of course money also being raised for charity as well.
