Record correct, SFA prepare to disband Appellate Panel

1122

This morning’s article in the Daily Record is not a work of fiction.  They reported that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan’s “bid to deliver a broad consensus over the way forward also involved discussions over the appellate tribunal’s transfer embargo on Rangers.”

In short, the SFA discussed changing their rules to disband the Independent Appellate Panel process before instructing Lord Carloway to sit in response to the Court of Session’s rejection of his previous judgement.

With two further Independent Judicial Tribunals still to sit in judgement on the actions of Rangers, for the illegal registration of players and non-payment of social taxes during the EBT era, the SFA will also subvert these rules before ‘Rangers’ are expelled from the Association.

After the meeting Regan left for his summer vacation without instructing Lord Carloway to convene the Appellate Panel.

That’s not all.

The scam to establish an SLP 2 in order to allow the SFA and SPL to co-opt ‘Rangers’ into that league is what the governing bodies have planned for your game.

If rules are changed AFTER a club is found guilty and in receipt of a penalty in order to nullify that penalty the game in this country is broke, ethically and financially.  Having established independent judicial panels to deal with serious rule breaches the SFA cannot do Rangers bidding without removing all judicial oversight.

We’re back to the days of George Peat walking in and out of hearings for the Celtic manager.

Most disturbingly of all, YOU are the cash cow for this outrageous enterprise.  With Rangers gone from the SPL Celtic fans bring all the commercial and television income into the game, and are set to buy more away ground tickets than all other clubs put together.

You are expected to continue to cough up for tickets to Tynecastle, Rugby Park etc, and subscribe to ESPN and Sky Sports – money which will divvied up among SPL 1 and SPL 2 teams, as well as they rest of the Scottish Football League clubs, to compensate for them missing out on a ‘Rangers’ game.

You will also pay more money for those tickets than any other group of fans in the league.  Why don’t you just write a cheque to Kilmarnock, Falkirk or Cowdenbeath today?

This nonsense will not bring another £1 into the game, all it will do is redistribute money from your pocket to clubs who care nothing for you.  Partick Thistle yesterday released a statement on their site, “We believe Scottish football needs to be restructured, financial distribution needs to be fairer for all clubs”.

“Financial distribution needs to be fairer”!  Patrick Thistle get to keep all their ticket sales, commercial and other income.  By “fairer” they mean they want some of your money.  If you agree with them, write them a cheque, but if you disagree, you better figure out what to do next.

Thoughts that some great victory has been achieved are premature.   Prepare for the next instalment.

Our domestic competition is, at best, uninspiring.  This disgusting land-grab for your cash will destroy our ability to compete in Europe, and it’s not just the senior team who will suffer.  The Celtic youth system costs millions to operate each year, don’t fantasise that it will survive intact.

Celtic currently employ 27 Scotland youth internationals.  They are almost single-handedly carrying the future of our national team.  This attempt to bleed your club dry will devastate all areas, with subsequent consequences for the Scotland team.

It’s not often I’ve told you the Daily Record have nailed a story but this one is on the money (your money).  I’m at a loss as to what to do next.

We cannot accept this.

Assuming the respective, (if not respected) CEOs of the SFA, SPL and SFL are using the Daily Record to put this “story” out there, we can be pretty sure they are flying a kite. Not one club represented, apart from the obvious NewCo, and yet we are are expected to believe there is an agreement in place to revolutionise Scottish football, and all before July 4. Now, either this was an official joint meeting, in which case there will be minutes, or, more likely it was an informal one, possibly involving fine wines, and succulent lamb. Regan, Doncaster and Longmuir are employees of their organisations, each of which has its’ own rules, and one of which, the SFA is an Association with a Board which covers more than the SPL and the SFL. Let us look at these “proposals”.

    1. “Find a mechanism ….(to save Rangers).” That ship has sailed.

    2. Guarantee playoffs to the SPL. The SFL can do that on its’ own.

    3. Pay the SFL to allow SKY to show NewCo matches. Why wouldn’t the SFL negotiate its own deal, or even SFL Division 3?

    4. The creation of something called the “Scottish Professional League”. Tell me who is volunteering to give up their respective jobs? Form a quiet line over there.

Desperate does not even cover it.

  15. If this comes to pass we need to get a grip of the situation by ring fencing the season ticket income.

One suggestion……we change the pricing structure by offering an annual membership fee (e.g. £400+ a season) and sell match day tickets for a £1 or so a game for home fans. The annual membership would be out of reach and the £60000+ earned in match day tickets per home game would be the pot that the away

team would receive their share from.

The 12 member clubs of the SPL have a contract with Sky, between the SPL and Sky exclusively. Sky have already indicated that they intend to honour that contract. Why then simply donate money to another league?

I’m sure if an SPL2 is formed, then it can go and get it’s own TV contract.

  22. Seems a bit of scaremongering by Paul67.

As has been suggested if this ever happened Celtic would just come up with a new way of charging us to watch games ensuring the money stays within the club, it would be legal and not that hard.

No doubt they’ll be trying to keep the new huns in SPL or SFL1 but I think they underestimate the feelings of other clubs fans. They’ll destroy the game in Scotland because lets be honest most fans are looking for any reason to no longer pay these sums to watch the poor football on show (in all leagues).

  23. Help ma boab, is no one on here truly interested in teams playing football? Celtic during my lifetime, I’m 65, has always represented the very best of sporting excellence, not always the best teams, but full of individuals who possessed superb talent, which I loved watching.

Tonight, we have Spain playing France, a team that Italy are delighted to have avoided and what is being discussed on CQN, a club that is defunct, gone, no more.

Let’s get back to football. One of our lads was playing last night at the very highest level and actually scored a goal and acquitted himself well. Well done Sammi .

  24. Oh these boys are good. They getting their heads together to ‘revolutionise’ Scottish Football, ‘concoct’ (My word) ‘a broad agreement over the future of Rangers’ and ‘a timeline to form one body – The Scottish Professional Football League’

‘A key part of the plan would see SFL clubs handed compensation payments from the SPL as part of a deal with Sky to broadcast live Rangers games in Division One.’

They are busy shortening Rangers’ exile and organising a revenue stream for Rangers under the guise of SFL ‘compensation’ and ultimately creating a body which I could only imagine will put at least one of the ‘trio’ out of a job…

I cannot think of an analogy which could come close to what these toads are busy creating in a back room.

The game is over. The fans sold off. The notion of justice violently raped. All in the self serving pursuit and desire to retain an ethos in sports form the whole world would be better off without.

Hollow men, weak, hollow men – Regan scurrying off on his hols…

    I’d love to say I’m surprised. But I ain’t.

They’ll tell you they’re saving football. But all they’re doing is saving Rangers.

    U

  25. Paul McC – I’ve never met a single senior manager who doesn’t understand the basic tenets of TUPE as they apply to newco and indeed any transfer of staff. A basic understanding of employment law is generally considered a “life skill” for managers.

In fact, it’s generally so obvious and widely known that it’s embarrassing to be so misinformed as Green & McCoist appear to be.

  26. Hoops_Neil_Lennon_diditagain on

We should call on the board to demand a vote of no confidence on the SFA and SPL.

  27. I still have my doubts that justice will be done.

Three years in the wilderness in a small way would have been acceptable.

If the developments stated in these reports are in any way accurate and comes to pass then I hope and pray Scottish Football dies.

I for one could not continue to back this God forsaken hole in the future.

It’s beyond belief that the wrong doing that has taken place can then be watered down by a re-write of the rules behind closed doors.

Should we really be surprised that the governing bodies look after their own, and at the same time sticking it right up us?

Unfortunately under FIFA/UEFA there are no avenues to play elsewhere.
