HEARTS saw red as they had Marc Leonard sent off in their 2-2 draw with rock-bottom Livingston in West Lothian this afternoon.
With six game still to play, the stalemate means Derek McInnes’ side are still in pole position, a point ahead of Danny Rohl’s Ibrox outfit and six ahead of Celtic.
Hopefully, a triumph for Martin O’Neill’s men over Dundee at Dens Park later today will put a different complexion on the top of the table.
The visitors, with 7,000 fans backing them from three sides of the stadium, were rattled in the fifth minute when Livi took the lead with a low, crisp drive from Stevie May just outside the box.
Lawrence Shankland equalised with a close-range header in the 24th minute following an inviting right-wing cross from Leonard.
Six minutes after the turnaround, the Tynecastle captain provided Claudio Braga with an opportunity smack in front of goal and the Portuguese ace thumped in another header.
However, Livi refused to accept defeat and snatched a point just before the hour mark when Lewis Smith popped up at the far post to put the finishing touches to a low left-wing cross from Christian Montanu.
Then came Leonard’s moment of madness in stoppage-time when he flattened Robbie Muirhead as the home player threatened to race clear from the halfway line.
Referee Kevin Clancy initially booked the Edinburgh defender, but was directed to have another look by VAR and the match official returned to the field to flash the red card.
A bad day for McInnes in West Lothian and it could get worse if Celtic get the business done at Dens Park.
