There was plenty to fret about in the first half. Celtic’s passing was hesitant and unable to prize a solid Motherwell shape open. It wasn’t until Yang competed for a loose ball which never should have been his in stoppage time before the break, that the game changed. Motherwell keeper, Oxborough, tried to make the ball his, but only succeeded in clattering into Yang. Arne Engels scored with the resultant penalty kick.
Nothing worked for Daizen Maeda in the first period, but when Liam Scales got a near-post flick on a corner early in the second, Daizen was all alone to head into the empty net.
A refreshed-looking Reo Hatate came on just after the hour, along with Kyogo and Nicolas Kuhn. All three improved Celtic, as the game decisively slipped away from Motherwell. Kuhn, on his return from injury, and Hatate, scored late on to emphasis Celtic’s strength in depth.
With the two teams below them both losing, Celtic’s lead at the top of the table stretched to 12 points. The title race is certainly not over after only 17 games, but this Celtic team have a formidable look about them.

The dug ate my season ticket. :)
west ham v liverpoll tomorrow.
only 6 tickets available on ticket exchange, £85.
average attendance 62,300.
there will not be rows of empty seats.
Bada – cheers.
Full price charged. So no incentive to hang off buying a (not being resold) ticket in order to get a cheaper ticket on resale.
Got it.
I wonder though if the demand for matchday tickets (beyond season tickets) might reduce with increased supply?

This is very good.
Respect to Emlyn Begley and Nick Mashiter at BBC Sport.
(Network of course/shortbread don’t do talent)
I assume this is part of an actual report for TV.
The stat halfway down – about nationality of title winning managers – is incredible.
I think when a person buys a season card that they can decide when to attend and when not to – for whatever reason.
That person also has the right to decide when to stay and when to leave when attending a match.
I don’t think anyone has the right to judge and/or cast aspersions on any season card holder’s actions, or, intentions. We all have claims on our time and lives, sometimes totally unforeseen, that will be more important/imperative than a football match.
However I do believe that many people who cannot attend specific matches would be amenable to a secure and properly administrated ticket-exchange scheme, and would take the time and trouble that allows a fellow Tim to have their seat on occasion.
I would like to see this happening. There will inevitably be ‘teething troubles’, which no doubt will be blown out of all proportion, however once things settle down it could be a valuable addition to the match-day experience.
Just to pick up on a previous poster who said that we don’t need more capacity – I agree. Sixty thousand is enough – let’s increase the quality not quantity. HH
Can’t understand the fuss over empty seats..
The cllub has been paid and are not losing revenue.
There are plenty of available tickets to be had using a wee. wee bit of time and effort.
Maybe we should be looking at reasons why people choose not to go. For example, the nearest train stations require a level of fitness that a US Delta Seal would be proud of, especially in Winter.
HH.
Greenpinata,
The club is turning down significant additional revenue by not acting as the official agent for reselling tickets through an exchange and membership scheme.
I have often wondered if it is existing third party contracts that are the problem – otherwise it seems like a no brainer.
You’d have to worry about empty seats when your club loses a cup final on penalties and only 7 of your fans stay to watch your team pick up their runners-up medals. :-)
Only natural that Celtic attendance figures drop off, even when there’s a title race they usually do, at this time of year.
We don’t really have an ‘A’ team when you’ve players in a 16 or so, that could start. Tomorrow’s game is a different challenge and another 95 minutes or so to beat a parked bus, like the Motherwell one, with their 16% possession.
Defensively it looks like Liam Scales has won the starting jersey back from Aaron Trusty who was withdrawn at Hampden after 45 minutes. Greg Taylor clearly deserving of his first choice status at left back, and Anthony Ralston has done very well covering for AJ who will rejoin the side, probably for Ibrokes, if not against St Johnstone. Luke McCowan has also played well when called upon, but his day might be further away into the season, he’s likely to feature as a sub on Sunday.
Another run out for Yang keeps Nicolas Kuhn ready to stretch Saints later in the game, and the shuffle of Engels, Hatate and Bernardo will lead us into Thursday by which time Kyogo should have scored or is overdue, rotating with Adam Idah, also due a goal. Celtic cult hero Daizen Maeda like Kasper Schmeichel and CalMac are our automatic picks.
A fascinating game – with a modern Celtic around 12/1 on, to win
What larks CSC
Headtheball- pal is a St Mirren fan,was heading to car park after the game, and not a hun in sight around the team bus, even the malcontents have given up
Good afternoon all from the Georgic Bar. Full of smirking Tims and miserable hun. You gotta laugh. 🤣
Must admit I was surprised to see that Kieran Tierney was listed as an (unused) substitute for Arsenal last night. In the sense that I thought, mainly due to KT’s reaction to his own ‘injury’ against Crystal Palace, which I thought was a hamstring injury. Turns out, as Arteta predicted, it was only cramp, result no doubt of playing his first game in a while. Good news all round.

I hear you TMLT … but not necessarily.
Couple of unconfirmed “ifs” but
If general sale costs, say, £50
And
If reseller season ticket holders were to get £15
And
If the club know our current fan base is quite flat around the 60k mark?
Reselling could see Celtic selling tickets for £35 instead of £50.
BTW – I speak as one of the more frequent proponents of increasing capacity.
(67,525 is the dream)
Saint Stivs and others …
…. I get your concern about unused season tickets for certain matches.
Respectfully though perhaps there is another way of looking at these fans.
Viz … they make a 100% financial commitment before a ball is kicked many knowing they’ll see less than 100% of games they’ve paid for?
Something praiseworthy in that depending on one’s point of view?

aye and no for me.
paying fully is great financially for the plc, monies up front, in the bank etc etc.
but, and i know its a hard emotional tie, but if someone purchases a 19 game season card, knowing they can only make, lets say 2 games, I think the plc has the right to say, thanks for your continued support over the years, but would you mind giving it up now for someone else to physically attend.
some on here, did just that , passed it on to a family member, younger, fitter and able to attend often.
i mean seriously, if there is a waiting list, surely anything that becomes available will be snapped up ?

The agent apparently won the agent of the year award at the “honest” awards (according to Cristiano).
I wonder if they’ll consider a future award for the best money grabbing, 5h1t stirring a**hole ?

because i like business and am a bore i have started to follow and monitor the trends of clubs on ticket exchance schemes, thhey work effectively, very well and if rangers, hearts west ham, can make it work, what stops us doing the same ?
and i am now at the stage that we should increase capacity, i thinkthe fans survey will be used to increase dear seats and hospitality.
they want wealthier spenders to come,
how many of the 21000 cup final tickets actually got balloted ?
The plc has measured kpis for matchday revenues and attendnace,
From the 2024 annual report they see the risks to the business as follows (offcourse non of the risks might happen).
—————–
(ii) Matchday revenues
Substantial income is derived from matchday ticket sales and the provision of various products and services on matchdays, including programmes, merchandising, hospitality and catering. Donations
from Celtic F.C. Development Fund Limited, particularly in relation to a proportion of matchday lottery ticket sales, are also important.
Significant revenue is also derived from the sale of season tickets. External economic conditions can affect supporters’ disposable income. The quality of the team and management, the perceived entertainment on offer, the level of success from preceding seasons, the opposition that the Club may
face in the season, together with pricing all have an effect on purchasing decisions. Many of these factors are beyond the control of the Group.
Poor football results and performances, the nature and quality of opposition, changes to kick-off times and bad weather can allhave an impact on attendance figures. A perception that there are
empty seats also affects the purchase of future season tickets in that supporters may elect to buy a match ticket when desired and run the risk of non-availability, rather than guarantee a seat by
purchasing a season ticket.
External economic conditions such as the challenges on consumer spending and disposable income, brought about by inflation, could also have an adverse effect on our potential revenues. However, season ticket monies for season 24/25 are already received, central rights distributions are largely
secured for the season, sales volumes for match tickets have started strongly and retail sales are in line with expectations.
Taking these factors into account, we feel the risk posed by the external economic environment is limited at present, however the Board will continue to monitor this situation as we progress
through the financial year.
notes from the accounts, important on out tax liabily for next year, the capital allowance carry forward.
—————-
TAXATION PROVISION
The corporation tax charge for the year ended 30 June 2024 is £4.4m (2023: £7.4m). An available capital allowance pool of £8.5m (2023: £4.3m) will be carried forward for use in future years.
PROPERTY, PLANT AND EQUIPMENT
The capital expenditure additions to property, plant and equipment in the period were £8.1m (2023: £1.8m) of which £5.7m related to our Barrowfield development. The remaining £2.4m includes improvements to Lennoxtown, seating replacements in the South Stand and the completion of the new stadium matchday LED screens.
In addition to this, and consistent with reporting under IFRS 16, the Group also capitalised leasehold assets of £0.9m (2023: £0.5m).

For what its worth I was at the SpurS Liverpool game on Sunday. I went on my in-law’s season tickets which you cant do if you aren’t a member which I am, for the princely sum of £45 per season.
I did have to pay them for the tickets at a reduced rate as they would otherwise have received £99 from the ticket exchange per seat. They are good seats but not great – halfway up the lower tier in line with the penalty spot.
I had a quick look on the website on morning of the game and there were still some seats together but they were all around the £99 quid mark.
The game was mostly sold out but there were a few seats around me that were empty. My wife’s cousin told me that most of the new faces you see when the season ticket holders dont go are Asian. It certainly looked like it
Also she told me that the fans are, on the whole, behind Ange, she thinks its the media’s making. They were singing his name and there wasnt any grumbling during the match. They have a problem with Levy though, they put all the blame at his door

was the experience world class ? the stadium and the enironment ?
genuinely interested.
909 other day had a spurs caller saying we are just a multi purpose venue with the occasional match.
Gerrard must be wanting back, what a croc of shit this is.
“During my time at Rangers i always felt there was an agenda against the club from the top of Scottish football.
“You see it even now with VAR it still seems like they use it to find a way to harm Rangers with any little thing they can find, but conveniently ignore something blatant with other people.
“I always thought it was more political than anything else, and that’s all I’ll say on that.”
Steven Gerrard on the recent events in Scottish football.
sorry seems that is mad up tim posting.
I want the Baldy Belgium to stay but would be delighted if Gerrard got the gig if he’s binned, he’s another shite manager 🙃

tosb.
are you a shareholder ?
…………………………..
I sure am. I bought into Fergus’ first share issue. £620 for 10 shares in 1994. Delayed paying the electricity and gas bills (until I got a final demand in in bold red print) so that I could afford it. I’m proud to say that my wife insisted I do it.
Now, your point is?
The original 5-1 game, I was trying tae play the game at the time so other than midweek games hudnae been tae too many others and certainly NOT as I mentioned earlier on Christmas Day when we beat Morton 8-1, my house was full that glorious afternoon with visitors from one of the new towns including the male members who were regulars home and away but this was one of the holiest days of the year so wisnae on, although when the scores cum up that afternoon of Celtic 8 Morton 1 with a big cheer followed by rankers 2 Dunfermline 3 you could have heard the cheers going up at the local Fountain in Alexandria where most of the family originally cum fae.
So movin on tae the January 3rd game I managed tae get 2 tickets for my pal and I, so we agreed to go up early, it was a 2:00 ko and we both wanted to try the legendary Sara Heid that we had heard so much about, now here we were 2 wee bhoys fae the bonnie bonnie banks walking through the saw dust, now this is almost 60 year ago, 59 in fact, so having picked our work colleagues brains we bought 2 lemon tops and 2 Ts as well as buying a local worthy a drink tae, another round includin the oul yin plus a kerry oot of cider and white tornado and I swear we had change out of ten bob for all the bevy.
We made our way along the Gallowgate and intae the Celtic end, the place was jumpin with anticipation and when the huns scored with a defection there was nae reaction other than “oh look they’ve just score” and the responses of “that’s ok we will still gub them, oh do you want another hauf” for that didnae happen to often, it was so surreal and no more so than at half time when it was our end plus the jungle that was belting out the songs, they were very subdued possibly fearing the worse that was to come, and so it did.
4 minutes into the second half and we were all square around 10 minutes later Stevie has us in front, and within 20 minutes we are 3 ahead as a result of 2 of the finest net burstin goals I have ever seen and to this day I can’t separate what was the best, twinkle toes Charlies or tiny wharton’s dummy for Chopper to unleash his exocet, not done yet as Stevie grabbed his hatrick after the wee mhan had once again tormented the hun iron curtain and hit the post while he prodded home the rebound, so my carolina and I threw caution to the wind and decided to walk down Londen Road to Brigton Station, it was empty except for a wee Tim waving a flag a their famed umbrella, the train was rockin as so many others had done the same
3 nights later at a medal presentation ceremony at our chapel hall with us lhads still revellin in the score you could have heard the din all through the legendary Glenfin as who should walk in but Big Billy and John Fallon down to present the medals and trophies, two players who didnae play that day but were more than welcome
Oh, meant to add on the night before the game walkin out of chapel I uncharacteristically, well for me, put hauf a croon in the poor box so I’m claimin that as a tanner a goal
TOSB as a shareholder you are a part owner of the club, you should be concerned when the customer base dont turn up. or cant resell their product.
I would suggest the PLC do want to know why people dont come, and that is why there was a fans/customer survey.
Tontine Tim
Wonderful 💚👍
tt, the match that Feguson scored twice,
Stivs
Chalmers 3, Gallagher, Murdoch.
Wilson the diver scored for the hun.
i meant the dunfermline game, i came across ferguson talking about he moved to dunfermline because he had wanted to play for jock, but jock left the week before he signed.
Parkheadcumsalford @ ages ago
I remember moving, depending on what way Celtic were shooting.Start in the east terracing where we arrived, through the jungle. Vast empty spaces for regular league games, reserve games were great and cheap to get in. Scottish League versus the Irish League been to a few of them, Celtic at home to Third Lanark.
My seat is still there, where we always finished up in the Celtic end. Do you remember the half time scoreboard? Situated at the back of the open east terracing, used to be known as the Rangers end. You had to buy a programme to know which letters on the scoreboard represented which team. same old Celtic always trying to make an extra buck.
Happy Days CSC
wrong game, dunfermline won at ibrox on christmas day 1965. incredible.
The game against the hun in 1966 was remarkable for a few facts. King Billy was injured and Joe and Yogi didn’t score.
