Regan footloose and disingenuous with the facts

456

Stewart Regan is today telling the media that only one club wants a review of what happened at Rangers during recent SFA president Campbell Ogilvie’s tenure as a director of the club. I think we can amend that slightly to read: only one LEAGUE of 42 professional clubs want a review of what happened.

It is utterly disingenuous for the SFA chief executive to portray the SPFL’s request for a review as a one-club issue. Regan is seeking protection in the amateur clubs’ numbers, ALL OF WHOM receive patronage from the SFA, against the wishes of the country’s only professional league.

You will remember how Sepp Blatter used the power of patronage with tiny Fifa nations to secure his grip on due process. Fifa money was spent and magnificent stadiums built where football scarcely had a foothold at the whim of Blatter, who enjoyed unquestioning support from micro-nations’ Associations.

When a chief executive uses the numbers in the amateur game, to outweigh the wishes of the 42 club professional league, for a review into what took place while a recent past president was a director at an errant club, you have all the ingredients for an abuse of patronage.

Stewart, all we’re asking for is a review, don’t pretend the country’s only professional league structure doesn’t exist.

  1. Hopefully, the other club’s fans will threaten boycotts if, their clubs don’t back the JR.

My fear,…..the rebel song book and, dodgy banners, might have pissed a few off ?

    Hopefully not.

What I canny understand, how can the SPFL, who represent 42 of the clubs, ask for a review, and so far, three of those clubs, four if ye count the huns, have now distanced themselves from a JR ?

    Hmmmm…..?

Ah smell, horses heids being laid on top of bedsheets.

The Legend that is – JOBO BALDIE, brilliant email fella, God bless.

    SIPSINI – Hail Hail fella.

Hugh Keevins – Your coverage of recent events, since PL’s letter, has been excellent, thank you.

I still feel, through my paranoid nature, that PL’s letter will be looked back upon as, the Celtic PLC’s excuse note where, the PLC can use the letter to fall back on and say,….”Well, we did try.”

    I hope I’m wrong, but……

    Anyway,…..

    …..oot.

  2. Kev, Shug has had a bit of a swagger since Brendan signed up to be honest.

I think he can see the class of the man like the rest of us.

He is not stupid, I think he is fearful of his occupation and bullied at times by bfdj and he is no fool.

He knows exactly what is going on.

  3. Kevinlasvegas…I wouldn’t involve the players in this…let them represent their country, it’s we, the fans, who have to carry the fight to the cheats…

  4. when we were skint we used to say as a young bunch of lads ” no mun, no fun”. Simple, without money we couldn’t go out.

Starve them of our cash and see how long the SFA will provide fun money.

Beam every away game back to Celtic Park, charge a token entry price and donate any cash less expenses to the Celtic Foundation.

Time to explore every option. If there are rules to stop live beam backs, put them on a 4/5 minute delay. Time for that Celtic TV team to get creative.

Is fear to speak out , the issue with other clubs ?

Neganon 2 might just be right about this country , especially the football environment .

Hopefully catch up with some familiar faces , some long time not see ,and some new faces from the CQN Grey brigade tomorrow night .

I get what you are saying Bobby, but if we give our players to the sfa for their gain its kind of two faced.

I think player with drawl would stir big head lines world wide and create a stink, It needs exposed Bobby. outside the country. the fans not turning up would only get swept under the carpet and we would get huns are the biggest gates etc.

    Move forward, Stewart?

Move forward with the SAME people

Move forward with the SAME culture

Move forward with the SAME mentality

that were there when all this happened?

And with a president who says we NEED a “strong Rangers”?????

Good grief man – you have no grasp of reality.

  9. Don’t let the Hib’s quislings spoil our party, we have a game tomorrow that they & the rest of Scotland can only dream about. Let us enjoy the build up & the game.

If we do not have any legal recourse against the SFA & SPFL &, if no other Club will give us backing, then the Club Board should issue a Statement of No Confidence in Scottish Football & announce that we will actively pursue every avenue to find an alternate League & in the meantime will continue to play in the SPFL under strong Protest,

Re A boycott of away games, we need to be very careful. If we try it and thousands do not adhere to it, then we would look very silly and worse still it would cause dissension amongst our own support.

If we are going to have a protest campaign it would need to be well thought out start modestly, gauge the level of support and escalate it gradually.

Probably start, with Supporters staying outside away ground until 20 minutes after kick off & escalate it to selecting a particular game where our absence would have max effect on a Televised game.

No point in Boycotting Hibs or Aberdeen early on as they would only bring in a bigger crowd of Home Supporters.

Pick a poorly supported Club & make a Televised Stadium look like a morgue.

That would seriously Piss off the TV Company, the Boycotted Club & Advertisers.

  10. ANGELGABRIEL

Do not confuse the Scottish people with the vain, puffed up, blazer loving dinosaurs who run most of Scottish football. Petrie is the very image of the guy who shouts out the bingo numbers at the bowling club every Friday night.

Do you have any confidence in the Compliance Officer looking at the Rangers licence issue from 2011, will he be in possession of all the information or just rubber stamp the decision of the time.

  12. I think they may be hoping that disgruntled fans will do their gruntling on social media only…

Gruntle all you like but keep turning up to our overpriced games in our shitty stadiums…

  13. boyd like bfdj and their ilk only get a gig up here because of the listeners, a decent educated station wouldn’t entertain them same goes for the tv stuff kris does, they know what they are getting with him and who is watching. keep your majority happy.

    we need an exit plan.

Totally agree – repost from yesterday for one option ?

With the discredited football authorities hell bent on covering their asses and ‘moving on’ for the foreseeable future, imagine this scenario at the end of not this but next season (2018/19) …

    1. We have secured “8 -in-a-row” and hopefully a 3rd consecutive treble;

    2. The SFA / SPFL cabal are resolutely refusing to cooperate with any review, judicial or otherwise;

    3. Scottish clubs remain reticent to force the hand of the authorities through apathy

    4. Celtic are running out of options and patience, then …

    5. BOOM – Celtic submit 2 year notice period to SPFL of intention to terminate its membership, as per paragraph 160 below

    6. 2 year notice period still allows us time to win 2 more titles and “10-in-a-row” in May 2021;

Articles of Association of The Scottish Professional Football League Limited

    TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

    160. No Club shall terminate its membership of the League unless it shall first have given two full Seasons notice in writing to the Secretary to the effect that it shall terminate its membership of the League.

    161. Once given, written notice in terms of Article 160 may not be revoked or withdrawn by the Club except with the approval of the Company in General Meeting by Ordinary Resolution.

Imagine the chaos and what might ensue ???

    1. The Celtic board have likely used their considerable leverage with UEFA (via our CEO’s key ECA / UEFA role) to negotiate an entry to another association

    2. TV rights negotiations are thrown into chaos as TV companies want Celtic included or no deal !

    3. Scottish Clubs suddenly lose apathy when they realise the cash cow is about to disappear causing huge losses of budgetary income

    4. Clubs become very supportive of preventing Celtic from leaving the SPFL and so they collectively reform the SFA / SPFL, getting rid of the incompetent incumbents

    5. Paragraph 161 is then used at a GM to revoke Celtic’s notice of termination – assuming that Celtic would be happy to continue under a reformed Scottish Football administration of course …

I would be surprised if this option has not at least been mentioned in house, as …

    – on one hand we stay where we are but under a new transparent and accountable administration,

    – or on the other hand, we are playing in another league away from the corrupt stink of ‘hand-shaking’ administrators.

    We shall see …

Doncaster said he was acting on behalf of 42 clubs.

We know that couldn’t be true, as Sevco wouldn’t be up for it.

Therefore, we can assume that it was a majority decision of, at least the SPFL Board, if not all clubs.

As in committee decisions, this was announced as unanimous.

After the SPL clubs refused Sevco entry into the PL, based on pressure on club chairmen, the SPFL changed the rules, by appointing a Board, thereby taking decisions away from club chairmen.

Instead of 12 people voting, there are now just 5 or 6. This stops fans pressurising their chairmen.

“Look,………………. we’re even doing PSG a night early”

In 2012 CQN’s finest said online and off that Celtic wouldn’t under any set of circumstances let the fraud and corruption die along with the previous Rangers .

There was a five year deliberate ‘silence’ that from time to time tested us all , this week is the beginning of the end for the SFA and they know it.

After the Supreme Court ruled, I was told standing in the Celtic Way before the Hearts game that the fight was officially on.

    God bless the Celtic.

    ….and another thing.

It is not fear of personal intimidation from the Klan that is motivating the Milnes and Petries, it is fear of being cold shouldered in the business circle in which they operate.

Contacts and contracts are procured by Craft.

  22. Can just imagine the Scottish remake of Spartacus:

    “I’m Spartacus!”

    “Eh, that’s right, he’s Spartacus”

    “That’s him!”

    “Yeah,I’m definitely not Spartacus”

    “He’s Spartacus!, he’s Spartacus!, he’s Spartacus!,……………….

  23. Clearly (as some have said), the leak was strategic to empower the Lawwell v them or CFC v them myth. I do believe that this has stung us but I also believe there is more at stake here. These recent eventa is some element forcing a powerplay earlier than CFC anticipated. Thats my view but i also would think that we have anticipated this and have enough support elsewhere. The SPFL response indicates this…at least to me.

You have been right all along, well if you discount the GB that is :-)))))

Seriously, it’s really getting down to BC or DC, I said many moons ago that I would rather start a tiddlywinks team that be beholding to their sectarian values, but that’s a personal stance that I wouldn’t expect anyone else to hold, but I feel that strongly about it.

This is coming to the end game, if the club go for it, great, they will have the backing of the support 100% imo, if they give in to the corruption, there is only gonna be one loser and it won’t be the huns.

It’s stick or twist time Thom.
