Regan on SFA acting without fear

944

“The Scottish FA has a responsibility to all its members and must implement its rules without fear or favour”.  Stewart Regan, SFA chief executive, 24 April 2012.

What chance the SFA will be able to act without fear now?  I don’t imply they will act without favour, but do you believe SFA panellists can act without fear?  Anyone who participates in Rangers appeal process and upholds their punishment will act despite fear.

This process, one of the most important the SFA has dealt with in years, has been subverted, and that calls for a far greater sanction that any already imposed.

    Ernie et al,

I hold no brief for McCoist .I am a Celtic man and he is a Rangers man . I was a councillor on EKDC in the 80′s and met him on several occasions. I can assure you he gave up a lot of his time to support youth work in EK without any recompense. I also found Ian Ferguson to be even more willing to help out regardless of who he was working with or helping

    ……………………………………………….

I guess that makes them two great guys then. I’ve totally revised my opinions of both of them. Eh …………….. then again ………….. maybe not. :-)

I may have it wrong. But if we wish to honour or founders would it not involve a harp and crown?

    =========

You are trying to stir the merde – stop it

Certainly not. As I understand it at the time of our founding, the flag of Ireland portrayed a harp surmounted by a crown.

As I posted earlier, I would settle for club’s original strip.

Oglach: in my opinion, a strip in that form would be our equivilant of them releasing a union jack strip.”

Celtic were created by some Irish fellas. The current Celtic FC are perfectly entitled to reflect those origins in using the colours of Ireland on a Celtic football strip to commemorate 125 years. Virtually EVERY other team in Britain was founded by British fellas so they would all be entitled to wear a Union Jack strip but it would be a bit confusing. Anyway, only ONE British team feels the need to tell people they are British, quintissentially so, in fact. Don`t you just love them?

    JJ

PS I agree with those who are suggesting that Tims who think that Celtic should hide its Irish origins are simply worried about upsetting The Establishment. I have no patriotic feelings at all but I know that kow-towing to bullies is a mistake.

  7. Best wat strip for me was the white with vertical green pinstripe, green shorts and socks in 1982.

Was in the window of the local sports shop for a very long time(Ayrshire) and I looked at it everytime but couldn’t decide whether to get it or the then current Hoops.

Went for the Hoops but always had nagging doubt. Got the slime green(5-0 v S Lisbon) away top the next year and it wasn’t the same(2 washes and the Umbro bit came off).

Worst strip was tha zig zag mess with Peoples as sponsor around 92.

  8. I was advised on here to stop listening to Snyde…so I did just that…and guess what?..my mood has improved. HH!

  11. Succulent Lamb article from Wikipedia:

According to those who are regarded connoisseurs, often called in the trade “Swine Experts”, Succulent Lamb tastes like chicken, with a hint of pork. The flesh is a very rich, firm and according to those in the know, strangely tender meat. In relatives terms few have tasted the Succulent Lamb because it is normally administered by very wealthy or powerful patrons- this accounts for its expensive rarity. Excessive consumption of Lamb results in a fever known as Murrimania, also known as Traynor’s Fever. It can be infectious, serious in some cases, and on a few occasions has been known to be fatal. It is highly virulent in Scottish sports journalists. The primary vector of the virus is fine wine eaten with the Lamb. It has been largely contained within the confines of the native region, in epidemic proportions, and largely endemic to the Glasgow conurbation. Edinburgh bankers, particularly the golfing class, are reservoir hosts. Caution should be shown in case of obtaining a bite from a Scots hack when in the country: the saliva transmission primarily infect macrophages, a form of white blood cells, that make it able to evade the immune system. No treatment is as yet known. Quarantine for the victim is essential but rarely happens. Infection leads an acute bout of what is medically known as “Delirium Recordium” which causes the brain to be starved of oxygen, an inability to think or reason effectively, jabber inanely, drool like a sick dog, an inability to sleep at night, hideously perspire with an insatiable lust for more Succulent Lamb- the Lamb’s high protein content excessively stresses the kidneys so the urea is overwhelmed and the sufferer rapidly wets their pants. Behaviourally the sufferer can be detected when the demonstrate the following symptoms: the tongue swells up like a cumberland sausage so the sufferer can only utter flattery, pure guffery and when they are together they will demonstrate an overwhelming bias towards treachery and collusion, even where simple truth is more preferable. The very pronounced victims, such as a one Chico the Younger, demonstrate a rare deranged level of adulation, kowtowing and deference to the giver of Lamb- in fact even when the Lamb is no longer given by the original host the sufferer will continue to show irrational levels of devotion to the host. There are various physical symptoms such as classically seen in Jabba Traynor ( whence the term Traynor’s Fever originates) such as selective hearing, an inability for the eyes to see the truth, acute baldness, abdominal corpulence and a dour demeanour randomly punctuated by pointless smiling. The sufferer can and will make things up, grand fabrications, in the manner of mythomaniac, almost akin to Munchausen syndrome but then suddenly, normally when losing an argument, start violently spouting out pseudo-facts with a froth in their mouth. Especial care should be exercised for kowtowing of these poor sufferers of Murrimania. There is anecdotal account of a sufferer only known as Spierzy; when the giver of Succulent Lamb entered the room, he the sufferer, as though dazzled by his presence, prostrated himself on the floor like it was a prayer mat screaming: “Salva sit Reverentia! Hail! Esto Perpetua!” May your shadow never be less! And as mentioned above no cure as yet has been discovered for this horrible condition: the best advice is to stay clear of Scottish sports journalists and make sure you digest no Succulent Lamb, particularly with fine wine, when you are in the country.

I have to agree with you. If ‘they’ started running about in a union jack shirt, we would all be on here sneering. (and rightly so!)

A tricolour jersey would be the same, and when our Club was formed in 1888, with Irish roots, the Tricolour was not actually the flag of ireland. We would be the butt of all sorts of ‘plastic paddy’ jokes.

I am all for acknowledging the Club’s roots, (Scottish and Irish) although many on here, sadly like to ignore the Scottish part.

Overall though – the jersey would just look like some sort of crhap they sell along the Gallowgate, and not at all in-keeping with a Club that is looking to grow it’s fanbase from Poland to Korea with all points in-between.

A bit more class than that needed from Nike I feel.

Bet the SFA are regretting having assisted RIA in the acquisition of CL money over the passed 3 years….and bet the MIM are regretting the negativity agenda against Celtic over the passed 3 years …… It simply prolonged their agony and made the ‘crash’ more intensive……

  19. This is the argument, isn’t it..? McCoist’s sinister outburst was ‘out of character’ while anything Neil Lennon does is typical of him nothing to do with what he’s suffered over the past year or so.

Oglach I think you’re wrong about both clubs reason for releasing such strips were ever to happen. For both clubs it would be because they think it would make lots of money. The fans reasons for buying it might be as you suggest. The clubs, purely commercial in my opinion.

    ———

Any shirt the club releases serves one primary purpose generation of revenue. Hence the never ending stream of Day-Glo dross masquerading as away strips, European strips or whatever the marketing men come up with. However the level at which a club may exploit the baser elements of its support should be questioned. I for one, perhaps being overly biased, cannot see anything amiss with Celtic exploiting the 125th anniversary of our clubs founding by marketing a shirt that overtly wallows in our ‘Irish heritage’ the shirt will undoubtedly , for mainly benign reasons, generate a huge amount of revenue for the Club worldwide. To compare this to a union jack shirt or an Orange shirt is way off the mark. I believe that the argument is academic as the shirt in question is allegedly a hoax.

Wylde has been left kicking his heels on the sidelines for the last month since being signed by Coyle on a free transfer from Rangers after the Glasgow club went into administration. Coyle is adamant Bolton, assisted by administrators Duff and Phelps, have categorically proven Wylde was made redundant and is owed money by Rangers.

  29. In listening to the whinging of many connected with Rangers FC, I’m reminded of the (true) story of the man appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing on a charge of serious assault. His Lawyer addressed the Judge thus – “M’Lud, my client appears before the court today well aware that he has the Sword of Damocles hanging over him”. To which the Sheriff replied “Perhaps he should have thought of that before he pulled the Knife of Stanley out of his pocket”….

  30. I think its all gotten too personal McCoist, Smith, Jardine, they have acted on impulse and in my opinion are wrong, and their comments have implications. Doesn’t make them bad people in general but the crux of the matter and the media, fans, etc are trying to deflect from the issues that what they did was wrong and there has to be repercussions thats what they signed up to as well a every other team in spl. However they are the only team to for close on another and one of their own, Airdrie for only £30k. I’m surprised that Traynor hasn’t gone to town in revenge for this but the succulent lamb must be tasting good!!!
