Regan should hide his face from Celtic players at Hampden

155

Tomorrow evening four or five Celtic players will represent Scotland in a match of the upmost importance to the SFA. The Association, who employ around 170 people, face a financial cliff edge if they fail to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Current income does not match expenditure; financial reserves are dwindling, with no certainty ahead. The existing deal with Sky TV ends next summer, while William Hill’s sponsorship of the Scottish Cup has an additional year to run. Qualification for Russian 2018, with the millions it would bring, is a financial necessity.

I’m a Scotland fan and a Gordon Strachan fan, but I’m a Celtic fan first and foremost. It grates that the very same people who rejected the Celtic and SPFL’s call for a review into (among other things) the conduct of their officeholders, now need our players to pay their wages.  They want us to feed them, but God forbid you want SFA officeholders to be accountable for actions.

If Regan, Petrie and their cronies know anything about motivating footballers, they will hide their faces from the Celtic players around Hampden.

Maybe I should do the team talk tomorrow.

NEW CQN PODCAST FROM CELTIC PARK ON SATURDAY

Kevin Graham is back with a new CQN Podcast from Saturday. He talks to supporters on the bus on the way to Parkhead, interviews John Paul Taylor outside the ground and captures the atmosphere and action inside the ground before getting some more supporters’ views on the bus home after an eventful afternoon at Celtic Park.

Apologies for a few sweary words in this podcast near the end.

Paul – the problem with that analysis is that you are assuming a degree of self-awareness!

CL First qualifying round will probably be 26/27th June next year, the group games in the WC don’t finish until 28th June, there’s then another 17 days until the tournament is complete.

Highly unlikely but Celtic could be without up to 13 players (7 in Scotland squad, Lustig, Boyata, Simunovic, Hayes, Gamboa, Rogic). Shows what a farce UEFA have made of their tournaments.

Celtic would not be allowed to withdraw players, FIFA rules prohibit.

I also think the SFA quitting hampden

Will have a spin off for sevco 2012

Although I think , if the rumours about the roofs at ibrokes have any substance , it could be as a new temple of bile

HOW ANY so called “Celtic supporter” could support the national team is a pure mystery to me.

They’ve BOO’d our players since time began, look at the cap numbers Celtic players have/not received down the years.

*The UKs greatest goalscorer only received 7 caps and scored 6 times in those games. In all fairness he was overlooked by hughie gallacher who was indeed a terrific wee centre but after his career went intae decline the younger McGrory was overlooked for other centres including former Celtic great Barney Battles son (who only received 1 cap the same as he got for playing with the US national side).

Jimmy in the season that he scored 50 goals was denied the chance tae play at Wembley for another nondescript dave mcculloch, who???, he also received 7 caps.

It is rumoured that bob mcphail deidco great pulled out of a national team squad in protest tae Jimmy not being picked.

BTW it’s also been rumoured that it was a mcphail pass tae James Edward whose goal initiated the first hunden roar.

After 25 mins on phone at enhanced rates,£10 admin charges and £60 for 2 tkts I will be at semi.

Not much good being on a HCTS and having to take(not that I would decline) tkts for Arbroath,Morton et alias but you have to pay £13.25 extra to get them!

And Jeremy says ‘Capitalism is dead’

    Aboot as deid as Sevco!!!!!!!!!!

They have so much in commom,… and the thing is you dont have to think bout it.

Bent and crooked from day one,(well since Primrose enrolled them with the inculcated failure system that is Scottish Masonicism As Tontine would say.

I recall Fergus Mc Cann questioning what sort of organisation the ‘cheats’fa was when he discovered around 94/5 that 135 people were employed by them.

He powerfully contrasted in his own way:-) with the NBA in the states(Then world sports most cash rich sporting francise micheal jordan et al) who only had 6 administrators.

i suppose in the states its warm and no need for a blazer :-)

  7. Ticketing arrangements for League Cup Hampden games are disgraceful. Kids and other concessions banished to the East Stand, the crappiest part of the ground, miles from the pitch on a shallow slope where my daughter for one can see nothing even when the fans sit, which they never do any more, Not even allowed to pay full price for North or South Stand, system set to block.

I mean really, this is actually scandalous. Been the same for several years.

  8. Cup semi final tickets now on sale.

Grrr! I was in this afternoon about 1:40 and they weren’t on sale then! I bought tickets for my grandson and I right up to Christmas. Had to cancel my season ticket for 4 games but worth it to bring the wee yin up in the faith.

  9. Thanks to CQNers, I have been able to get my mate and my own tickets for the semi-final. First time I have succeeded in doing it on line. Seem to be plenty gone already. There must be a guid few more on the HT thingy than before.

Celtic as ever seem to be hopeless with regard to doing things the easy way.

  10. prestonpans bhoys on

Who was the genius who set the semi final criteria, you must be on the home ticket scheme and purchased the Killie cup game played at CP.

As part of the scheme it would have been deducted immediately thereby allowing you to use your ST , what a tube

  11. TONTINE TIM

Thanks for highlighting those one or two points. There are virtually hundreds more mate that could be pointed out but i would imagine they’ve probably been done to death on here. I think i’ve now read about most of them throughout the years, and i witnessed the Boo’ing of Jinky 1st hand. (1st and LAST game) btw.

  13. Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool on this day in 2015.

    And thank goodness for that.

  14. Re SFA bias and Celtic players being booed playing for Scotland I recall my auld da telling me that Bob McPhail of rangers* threatened SFA saying if they didn’t pick a certain gentleman by the name of James McGrory he would refuse to play.

Apparently Mr McPhail was a fine player and a gentleman like Mr McGrory.

I was aware Mr McGrory was a gentleman because my paternal granny told me often enough :-)

  15. Tickets for the semi final on a first come first served basis to those on the HCTS. I don’t have time to go to the ticket office so forced to pay the £7 delivery charge again. And no provision was made for those who attended the Dundee away quarterfinal meaning some of those guys will miss out. They should have been prioritised. Very poor.

    Thetimreaper,

As I pointed out for the sheep game, the criteria for away games is a closed shop. Try getting one even for games against Killie or hunderwell…….

    Amen brother.

    And it hasn’t gone away.

The SFA is a dark Masonic cabal and I am indifferent to the possible loss of employment to whatever number spend their time at Hampden trying to breathe life and meaning into the existence of the dead team.

I like to see Scotland win, but I don’t lose any sleep or shed a tear if they lose.

However, when Celtic lose, it’s dark room time.

When I watch Scotland I’m only interested in 1 thing – how are the Celtic players doing? The more players the more interest, the less obviously the opposite. What happened to John Kennedy still annoys me, what a waste.

  21. Managed to buy LC semi final tickets online all the way from sunny Tenerife. I generally moan about the TimTernet charge but happy to pay it this time. Would have missed out otherwise.
