Reports of Roberts loan to Celtic denied

509

Celtic have NOT agreed a deal to take Patrick Roberts on loan next season.  Sources within the club expressed surprise at reports claiming as much. The club have been working with Manchester City and the player for some months, in an attempt to secure the services of the England youth international.

A loan deal is only one of the options being discussed.  But while Celtic look the most likely destination for Patrick, there is still work to be done.

Celtic, who will soon be able to offer guaranteed Champions League football to prospective players, are active in a number fronts.

  1. Thanks again for all the best wishes since my last post…55 sounds great better than 54…:)

Since P67’s current thread and my post on the loan deal being agreed, I too was told the permanent deal was the preferred option. One thing I did hear was a fee had been agreed for a permanent move but as P67 has posted, negotiations would appear to be at a delicate stage.

Had a great afternoon at Celtic Park, timing is everything the Invincibles Trophies returned shortly before the tour started as they had been at Lennoxtown for a photo shoot.

    Keep the Faith!

  3. Pete,

    Hope you’re good big mhan.

What wasn’t to like??? Good food, drink and company.

You should have been on the taxi tour with those other roasters.

For the avoidance of doubt I do not begrudge Stuart getting the best deal for himself but I think it’s a short contract and I love Celtic more than I love Stuart so it’s a win win. If he wants to battle relegation that’s his prerogative but I would get the best possible deal for Celtic. I view Stuart in the same light as Wanyama and Virgil. Somebody who uses us as a means to an end rather than an end in itself. As I’ve already alluded to I view this through the prism of a supporter others will differ but hey ,is that not what a blog allows people to do…express an opinion. Thanks for the memories….next. It’s not as if we forced him into slave labour. He’s well paid for his efforts on our behalf and isn’t likely to be seen at a food bank anytime soon.

While i feel the same about loan deals i can see the rational of taking Paddy for one more year.

He is versatile as can play wide or in the 10 role.

Our recent injuries to Lee and Moussa left a void.

Brendan may have decided that its to early for young Mikey Johnson to back up JF so Paddy for a year solves any issue on that side.

Think Hayes was tried to assess that area but he does not seem confident on the right.

He will back up Sinclair on left and Miller could cover if needed .

With the inclusion and development of Ajer,Ralston,Miller and johnson we have a squad that can cope with the large fixture list due to European involvement.

I think another defender is needed but think Erik will depart in January window if we secure our target.

Probably time up for Henderson also which is a shame as he has talent.

Ah! The good old days…Sunday Night at the London Palladium, Beat the Clock, The Army Game, Johnny Divers, Paddy Crerand, Alec Byrne…Alec Byrne?…Well ok! He was slightly less consistent than wee Jamsie…Slightly? Well ok! He was usually rubbish…but when he was good, he was very good…

Those were the days…1/- for the boys gate, which eventually rose to 1/-6d…that was probably the first time someone said, “wan ‘n’ six noo? Canny believe it! It’s aw aboot the money noo. It’s gonnae ruin the gemme.”

    How prophetic… :-)

Like you say Celtic comes before any player better than Stuart have played (& left) for me BR wants Stuart so that’s good enough for me, hopefully more Celtic success at home and European ventures to enjoy, it’s all good roll on Killie the morra

Ah! The good old days…When the pre-season game was between the probables and the hopefuls…entrance fee was a silver coin. We used to ask our mammies for a silver thrupenny. Didnae want tae pay a whole tanner…oof! Tight fisted 12 year olds…

Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end…

  8. The Celtic support or just the keyboard crunchers the moaniest in the world?

Delighted after months of speculation that Stuart Armstrong backed Celtic

when he could have walked away for next to nothing to earn gazillions in England.

At least that is what we were spoon fed by SMSM, another clear case of fake news.

Neat work by Celtic and BR by forcing the decision from the player whom they were not prepared to sell, or more importantly not prepared to see wither by running down his contract.

If there are suitors maybe they’ll now pay the full price of the players worth.

Wonder what garbage BFstupidDJ and Shug the Mug (sorry KevJ) will be spouting tonight.

  10. From the figires i have heard bandied about MC would rather sell PR than loan him out again.

My thoughts are we should pony up the fee but we are in a bit of a bind if we agree the loan deal.

If he has another high profile 12 months with us then he will move out of our wage range.

Loan — MC make the money on the transfer

Sale — we make the money.

Target would be £10mill and a 20% sell on clause. We have the money and he will shift the jerseys. Plus last 16 is this years target and he helps us get there.

See Ajax. They could be right out of Europe next week, after blowing CL and EL qualification.

A few years ago, did they not have the perfect model for big clubs trapped in small TV Leagues. Good academy, core of good Dutch pros, good coaches, sign em cheap, sell em high. Endless group stage qualification to keep the coffers topped up?

Ajax has competition in the dutch league.

Also losing a coach who took them to a European final so it must be hard to adapt so early in season and maybe their opponents further ahead due to leagues starting early.

The Dutch national side has also declined in last 4 years.

Maybe Monaco would be a good comparison for us?
