LASK had a terrible start to last season, losing four of their first eight league games, but they lost only twice in 33 competitive games since September before arriving at Celtic Park on Wednesday. That run included an unblemished start to the new season, scoring 16 and conceding only once. The Celtic defeat was exceptional, the consequence of exceptional goals.
LASK know how to successfully respond to a setback: their chances of overcoming Celtic may be slight, but they are greater than the chance of them picking themselves off the canvas to win the Austrian title last term. Like Celtic winning by scoring late goals, tonight’s opponents have form for what is required and they will absolutely fancy their chances.
Exceptional goals are scored by exceptional players and those same players will be required to dig deep again to push Celtic over the line. We conceded plenty chances in our last two games against LASK and Dundee United, and there is nothing to suggest the game in Linz tonight will be any different. If we are to win, it’s likely we will have to put the ball in the net and extinguish whatever hope the Austrians have. One goal should be enough to see us into the Champions League group stage.
Just as importantly, Celtic need to find a way to reduce the number of chances they give up. LASK had 20 attempts at goal in Glasgow, an extraordinary stat for an away game in Europe. If Celtic cannot tighten up in the middle of the park, a rain of chances will fall on the defence.

We need to start alert and lot combative and tight in the middle of da park.
A pity that in a game where we’d benefit from a strapping big middy, we may only get one after the tie is done.
And while the Europa wouldn’t be the worst option this season, it’d send the more intemperate of us into a fit should we not navigate this tie and get thru to the big vase.
Aside, I feel for our forgotten international Tony R who looked like he was towing a caravan in last week’s game and would surely benefit moving out to the Englander Championship or to a Hibs or Dundee Utd side where he’d get regular game time and more fan appreciation.

We played a high-risk game last time and it paid off. We don’t need to play the same way again tonight. We can defend deeper while still posing a threat going the other way – we have the players now to counter-attack effectively.

Hi Phil, if you’re operating system is Microsoft, they have their own anti virus protection called Microsoft Defender.
Works great for me and never had to pay for any other anti virus stuff.

I was quite moved by his personal reflections earlier and, like others, offer my thoughts.

Last weeks game was a magnificent watch and to many of us it resembled the great European nights under the lights.
On the pitch it brought happiness, enjoyment and entertainment with the fans responding in kind.
We left left the stadium with a spring in our step which even monsoon conditions couldn’t dampen.
We want and need more of it.
I sure strategy has been formulated, technical discussions have been evaluated, offence and contingency plans have been put in place.

Agree re Richard Murphy, not least in the role of money/central banks in the modern economy. Or rather a modern Central Bank, not the current Bank of England version and its’ orthodox thinking. I tend to look @ the bigger picture re Scotland/UK spending eg Holyrood budget for 2026-27 c £68 billion in a UK economy with a GDP of around £3 trillion, ergo around 2.2%. Not much of a subsidy there. Or look at the overall spending in/for Scotland or as % of the population of Scotland re UK etc etc. Had the SNP any real nous they would be demanding changes to the Scotland Act itself, control over energy, the total offshore economy, and the payment of all Corporation Tax direct to Edinburgh. The latter might actually encourage corporations to incorporate In Scotland, Glasgow say, and give us a more accurate/comparative picture of of the economic welfare generated in and around Scotland.
On the fitba front, the match might be starting @ 0-0 but the tie isn’t. Deep down Lask will know that if Celtic score @ any point in the game they are out. Agree with others that we do not want to press with as high a line as we did last week, we have counter attacking options in our team.

Paul, interesting point on exceptional players. We have lost to a lot of top teams due to a couple of special moments up front or at the back.
Madrid, Barca, Atletico etc have been matched at CP but ultimately we lost due to those moments

I was sitting here thinking, how rare european away wins are, and then thought, how even rarer a run of unbeaten games away from home actually are, and especially against teams from good leagues.
If I am right, while it was not champions league, our end to last seasons away games saw a run of 3,
Feyenoord 3-1,
November – scorers Yang, Hatate, Nygren, all still at the club. and remember we were 1 nil down in 10 minutes.
Bologna 2-2,
January – Hatate and Trusty, we were 2-0 up at halftime, a real good first half.
Stuttgart 1-0
February – McCowan in the first minute, Celtic had other chances to score throughout the game.
So why bring this up ? well it is a testement to mentality installed by that “winning football games” manager, that this team that so many wanted to write off as a worst to ever win the league (still gets on my thruppenies) can go compete in others back yards, Holland, Italy and Germany.
Now we have players who scored goals in the champions league last season, and indeed show individual touches of brilliance in the first leg, you know what I am confident we are going to go for 4 undefeated in away european games,

You see, I’m not a Doctor, but some Doctor’s break from the pack and release some very interesting information that should be taught in schools, but it is not, as it would lose big Pharma Medical Companies a lot of money, which should be the last consideration, but not for these types of characters, who control the NHS, thanks to Tony Blair opening up the back doors to dubious American companies.
And big Pharma has huge influence on USA, EU, UK, etc Medical Practices decisions, etc.
I mean when even the BBC is wheeled out to warn people about the “short comings” of mainstream prescribed medications such as, Statins, Paracetamol, etc, then this is a glimpse into the big Pharma fears about the money they are starting lose because the public are starting to ask questions about what these medicines actually do.
Our brain needs a big fatty cushion to grease the wheels of our brain.
If we burn away the needed fat then the wheels of the brain will slow down.
When we hear medical people talking about lowering cholesterol levels, well that is the wrong approach, as we need fat from Meat, Dairy, products, like the fkn Royal Family and other creepy rich families are allowed to get from their own bred cattle, with full fat milk, not Pasteurisation milk with all of the needed goodness all removed, and a media told to never address why this approach is sanctioned by Governments, as its all part of the depopulation plan.
We need fatty brains to make them function.
Statins, Folic acid, Omeprazole, etc burns the cholestarol and needed fat before it gets to the brain area, then people get all of these illnesses, Dementia, etc, because of carefully blindsided from the public, side affects of these medications.
Example – If your Doctor had to tell you about this he’d be struck off or worse.
