Respect deserved

892

We’ve seen a few difficult games against Hamilton Accies in recent years, including what proved to be a costly draw after being denied a late winner at New Douglas Park, but we’ve never met them in this form.

Hamilton have the longest unbeaten run in Scotland.  They lost their opening league game of the season, at home to Inverness, but have won seven and drawn two of their subsequent nine games.  Their 0-4 win away to Motherwell last week was a display of sharp, organised football – and remember, Motherwell took at point at Celtic Park the previous weekend.

Alex Neil will have no intentions of leaving pointless tomorrow.  This is the game he and his players will have been waiting for since the fixtures were announced four months ago.  Their four SPLF away games: wins at St Mirren, Partick and Motherwell, and a draw at Tannadice, has been preparation for Celtic Park.

If Celtic have a Europa League hangover, Accies will boss them.  Forget the lowly status of the club, respect is needed if we are the get the desired result and performance required.

I’m running the Great Scottish Run in aid of Celtic Foundation tomorrow morning, which presents a, erm, personal hygiene challenge for the game.  It’ll be a full can of deodorant day.  If you have a £1 or two for the fundraising, you can help here.

  1. Hypothetical question, I know, but…

If we were looking for a new manager, do they have to have UEFA coaching badges or the like?

Is Jimmy McGuinness qualified (technically) to be Celtic boss?

  2. the glorious balance sheet on

Absolutely sick with the Zombies obsession with trying to rewrite and deny history.

Their club was liquidated. This is fact as duly recorded by Companies House.

There is nothing in that Livingston match programme article that is inaccurate.

The Zombies have no shame; leading a witch hunt against a programme contributor who committed the crime of writing an article that spoke to the inconvenient truth. No doubt platoons of Zombies are already trying to identify the person that wrote the programme article and death threats etc will follow.

Somebody should tell the brain dead roaster Andrew Dickson that the new club content is not horrendous, it is the simple truth. It is time the SFA stepped in and put the Zombies straight on this point, the intimidation, rabble rousing and coercion designed to force people to accept a lie cannot go on.

It makes a mockery of our sport.

  4. My guess for tomorrow

    will be a

    1 1 3 2 2 11 formation

which can shift to a diamond shaped xmas tree

with everyone running about alot and

the wide men tucking in behind the1 up front.

    _________

    LOL!

I’d go for a 1-10 formation. When we attack- 10 forwards. When we don’t have the ball- 10 defenders.

We could possibly switch to a flexible blancmange arrangement; 1-2-1-1-3-1-1

    Alternatively, the microphone formation- 1-2-1-2-1-2-1…..

    Tet,

The two la liga sides playing last night used it. I chuckle at the guys who think Ronny is the only one using it and is to blame for all our woes.

    Ec67,

You are right. They did. Wee Pablo came inside quite a bit. Coulda covered a bit better mindya but 3pts is 3 pts.

    —————————————

I’ve been harping on about it since before Ronny arrived.

“what big teams use it?” Lots and more importantly teams which over achieve.

“every succesful team has two up front” that’s true, in 1970. technically there’s 4 forwards.

Even after we were playing it it was still called getting called everything but although at time it looks like 433 and 451.

Was reading a bit more about how it came about it. Like most formation it was beat counter another. One up was to mean one of the other centre halves was usless- he had nobody to mark. There’s plenty to read on it but I won’t bore with it but, the movement and position of the players leaves, say players in a flat back 4 ineffective and unable to mark unless the follow players and leave holes. (opposition parking buses will cause any formation problems that’s trying to break it down)

Anyway, it was designed to limit opposition players in limited formations. What you see from Celtic recently is just how often defenders are involved(Virgil is a like third mid alot and often advances them) in attacking play and how often the forwards defend-pressing heavily.

So we effectively are limiting opposition players and at the same time exceeding/maximising our own players involvement in more passages of play.

As I’ve said before, when well practiced, it can really rip teams apart.

Fair play to livi for telling it like it is

Sipsini how are you mate. Hope you and jonnythetim are good. My bhoy goes to court in November. Have to thank our very own Hamiltontim for all he has done to help including getting Seans ban from Celtic Park and basically getting Celtic to say they have no problem and no evidence that he did anything wrong. He really is a top class bhoy one of the best. Hoping to get to hootenany next week even for a few depends on the Mrs she has an operation on Wednesday.

Most of the dissenters want instant gratification, they are not willing to put up with change, and it’s their right to feel that way, but if we stick to the old ways, we will be left behind for sure.

Things move on, players are fitter these days, players who can adapt are in demand, players who are fit and can play are in even bigger demand.

It’s up to the players if they want to better themself’s, their choice, there are 1000s out there who will.

Did anyone notice RDs clever move

of playing 3 left backs and no central defender

in order to lull the opposition into a false sense of security

which allowed us to counter attack.

The man is a tactical genius.

I’m grand mate, is your bhoy ok for his teachers course due to the pash himself and his cousin had to endure?

Jonnythetim tims grand as well, still a miserable bassa though:))

  17. THE EXILED TIM

I understand anyone wanting instant results, but it would meant there would be no point in changing. As you say we can’t be left behind and even better for me, our youth players(who are surrounded by the Scottish diet- the only place in the world fizzy drinks are refereed to as “juice”-the juice of sugar chemical colour fizz bomb monster) will now hopefully be looking up to the senior players as role models. Which should also empower the players.

I’ve a feeling the players will want to be on this journey, it will make their career last longer and give them extra pennies. Makes sense.

    442 and chips but? ……..;-)
