Respect deserved

892

We’ve seen a few difficult games against Hamilton Accies in recent years, including what proved to be a costly draw after being denied a late winner at New Douglas Park, but we’ve never met them in this form.

Hamilton have the longest unbeaten run in Scotland.  They lost their opening league game of the season, at home to Inverness, but have won seven and drawn two of their subsequent nine games.  Their 0-4 win away to Motherwell last week was a display of sharp, organised football – and remember, Motherwell took at point at Celtic Park the previous weekend.

Alex Neil will have no intentions of leaving pointless tomorrow.  This is the game he and his players will have been waiting for since the fixtures were announced four months ago.  Their four SPLF away games: wins at St Mirren, Partick and Motherwell, and a draw at Tannadice, has been preparation for Celtic Park.

If Celtic have a Europa League hangover, Accies will boss them.  Forget the lowly status of the club, respect is needed if we are the get the desired result and performance required.

I’m running the Great Scottish Run in aid of Celtic Foundation tomorrow morning, which presents a, erm, personal hygiene challenge for the game.  It’ll be a full can of deodorant day.  If you have a £1 or two for the fundraising, you can help here.

8 league games in and the Hibs goalkeeper has score more league goals than Kris Boyd (who has started in every one of those games).

He is better than Henrik Larsson though, isn’t he?

It’s up to them, hard work and dedication, I said the other night that if I were a player who was earning 5-10K a week, I would want to earn 50-100K a week, fizzy drinks , alcohol, chips etc ain’t gonna help.

If I were one footed, I would practice hour after hour to make myself two footed, I would be training when the others were on the golf course, or in the bookies.

And we still wonder why clubs with mucho less finances than us are better tech than we are…..Doh

The huns made a massive mistake getting rid of PLG, I hope our suits don’t make the same mistake as the hun suits did and capitulate to the fans.

Thankfully, most Celtic supporters remain untouched by the OBaF Bill.

Sadly, many of those who have fallen victim to it have found themselves arrested, charged and on trial due to fabrication and ignorance by those responsible for imposing it, Police Scotland.

Even worse is that on occasions Celtic have been complicit in this or acted without any consideration for their supporters.

I discovered that within the club there were mixed understandings and subsequently various different messages regarding banning orders etc.

Thousands of us went to George Square to oppose this Bill. Since then, if anything, things have got worse.

    Long story amigo

    but fed up with Ruglen.

Too much hassle for Celtic supporters.

Will fill you in next time we meet.

Agreed on all points. I reckon the suits have the minerals. We have to think in the long term and raise and bring players others will want.

Knowing this tactical system and matching it with athletic fitness would make our players more saleable, whilst producing a team which could, over achieve. What’s not to like about that for everyone?

The one footed thing I still struggle with, seeing a pro footballer not hitting the ball early with their “other” foot when all footballing momentum says; “hit it” and instead staking two touches and breaking down play, p*sses me right off. Not played in a while, but if bhoys and ghirls can do it in fives, so should the guys on £10K. The less power in my left foot makes it more accurate!!

Ronny praised Hamilton’s open attacking play, hopefully, they carry on tomorrow. Meaning we go for pacey counters like other mentioned earlier. If we’re going to sell this league to the world, we need more Hamilton Palace attacking and less St Mirren number 9 buses. Hamilton have every right to go for it, we’ll be tired and they’re on good form. Good game ahead. I plan to enjoy it, hope everyone else does too.

  14. I opine the following…

David Murray not only killed his own club with his reckless spending ( in cohorts with his pals from Charlotte Sq) but also almost every major team in Scotland as they spent stupid money to try to even the playing field.

The press and Media had their part, they fueled the need for instant gratification and fascination in signing second rate players from outside Scotland. The entire youth set paid because supporter wanted their teams to match Deadco’s “glammer” signings. They also glorified der hun’s winning against zero competition and never really questioned why they were pumped regularly in europe. They made cheque book managing acceptable, whilst countries which were miles behind us invested in coaching, facilities, and youth.

Actually I’d say without the part the succulent lamb laptop loyal played, Scottish football would be in a much better place.

  18. “McCall frustrated by ‘Well slump.” says the BBC

    Well no one else is.

If a team is really up for a game against Celtic, it actually means that there are other games when they are not really up for it.

    There’s your slump.
