Respecting the journey

810

This is not a journey!  Respect to the Celtic marketing guys who ran his headline on a story discussing the Champions League qualifying draw, which takes place on 22 July, the same day the players return to training after a short summer lay-off.  You can tell when people enjoy their work.

Last week’s article, ‘We’ve missed them and now we want them back’, referring to the absence of Champions League nights, also had a delicious twist.  That’s all we want back!

It’s been a good news day all round, with Peter Lawwell handing over a £10k cheque to Yorkhill Children’s Charity on your behalf.  The iconic Glasgow children’s hospital closes tomorrow with services moving to the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Delighted also that Celtic received a Platinum Award from the SFA for the standards of their facilities and governance.  We have been awarded by more prestigious bodies but it’s good to be endorsed anyway.

Mike Ashley…….. five counsel to enforce a contract!  It’s like going into a fist fight with a bazooka.  There will be carnage in the weeks to come………..

    Fantastic !!!!!:)

  5. The Daily Record has already revealed the ins and outs of the agreements – and so I wonder what will be the effect of this, belated, injunction – can anyone enlighten me?

  6. Aye Burgas Hoops, can just picture 2 of them storming a SD shop shouting “down with this sort of thing”……. lol. Away to inform the office hun of the latest developments.

Sevco’s counsel wouldn’t deny that they were source of leak to daily record over 7 year contract.

That might be another case coming to a court near you soon.

  9. Once set out to climb Mount Kinabalu. Stopped at the Diocesan Retreat Centre (Bunan Gega) about half way up. The bulk of the people living on and round the Mountain are Catholic; they belong to a people called the Kadazan. They are a very welcoming people to those who conduct themselves with respect for them, their faith and their culture.

  10. Still find it hard to take in that the law, honesty, and impartiality are being applied in a case involving the huns. Half expecting the judge to whip off her mask shouting, “Only kiddin’…roon ye Mike. Weearrapeepil”!

    The times are certainly changing.

Huns can’t handle honesty or rules being applied.

    Could get VERY messy. :)

In view of how easily Ashley won that round,I think-to paraphrase the latest James Forrest article-the huns took a butterknife to a gunfight.

We stayed here last year. Perfect spot, with the villa backing onto Lake Lugano.

    http://www.sanmamete.com/

Plusses… beautiful part of the world, 10 minutes from Lugano, 20 mins from Lake Como and the ferries to Bellagio etc.

Great location for hill walking etc.

A 10 mile swimming pool in the back garden.

Quiet, if you like that sort of thing – couple of decent bars and restaurants in the village.

Minuses… you’re in the mountains so the weather is changeable. It’ll go from 80C and sunshine, to dramatic summer storms in 20 minutes. Bring a cagoule.

Kids would likely be bored to tears.

Recommend a couple of nights in Bergamo if you chose to fly into there. Really great wee town. Alternatively, Milan Malpensa is a little closer, about an hour away.

If you like it, Appt 5, the garden flat, is the one to go for.

    Mr.Pastry,

Spme wiseheads on SFM are suggesting that the purpose of the case was to pin the source of the DR’s leaks was the RIFC board.

    This was established.

It also points to King and co breaching the terms of their contracts, thereby giving Mike the justification to go after them.

Although the judge appeared to be shocked at the level of costs awarded to SD, they were awarded.

Perhaps being in an English court had an effect on proceedings! : > )

  21. Jude2005 – Lake Garda is brilliant for a holiday. Easy to get to and there’s lots to do. I went there 2 years ago and stayed at the south end of the lake, where Gardaland theme park and the water parks are. It’s great if you’ve got kids. The north end has watersports and adventure type stuff. There are lovely wee towns dotted all round the lake.

You can get to Venice by train in about 90 minutes IIRC and Verona is only 15 minutes away – it’s gorgeous. Mantua/Mantova is 30 minutes away by car and is a beautiful medieval town.

What grates the most is the number of kit releases is discussed and agreed during contract negotiations.

Celtic negotiate a higher sponsorship deal based on the higher number of kit releases.

What they do to working class families doesnt justify the few million they get as a result.

They then charge you a higher price for the product than the middle man who has to add his own margin on.

They then lean on the fans’ vulnerability in terms of their emotional loyalty to the the club to ensure you pay an over the odds rate, for a kit being changed too frequently.

You cant have it both ways in my book – treat me as a Celtic supporter and ill behave like one.

I’ll buy all kits, from Celtic, every 2nd year they are released.

Treat me as a Celtic customer and ill behave like one – I dont buy any 1 year kits, and the 2 year kits I do buy, are bought at the lowest price available.
