Rest Brown, Tierney and others for Tynecastle, Ben Nevis Huddle

471

Sunday’s game at Tynecastle is a bit of a dead rubber for both Hearts and Celtic.  The home team cannot finish higher or lower than sixth place, while the Champions will be rested after a few days in Tenerife.

I know you want to rattle a few goals past Hearts; make up for the defeat there earlier in the season and, well, because they are Hearts, but this should not be a priority.  We are two weeks away from a Scottish Cup Final and the opportunity to become the first team in Scottish history to win back-to-back trebles.

Neither Motherwell nor St Johnstone have much to play for in their game this weekend, but you can be sure Motherwell will have an eye on the Cup Final.  They will rest players and allow strains to recover.  We must do the same.

I would rest the captain, Ajer, Boyata, Tierney and Forrest.  Set the priority right and be ready for Hampden.

Celtic FC Foundation, Ben Nevis Huddle

After a three year gap, the Celtic fans will be back on Ben Nevis on mass on 30 June, to raise funds for the Foundation.  This is a rare opportunity for those of us unfamiliar with mountains to ascend Britain’s tallest in the company of supportive Celtic fans.

Participants are asked to raise (only) £130 for the Foundation.  It is a great opportunity, see here for more details and to sign up this weekend.

I heard Gerrard discuss is football philosophy the other day.

It was during one of his pundit stints.

He was asked about his priorities, as such.

He said skill ,etc., was one thing, but the main thing was the effort you put into the game.

Going through brick walls, sort of stuff. Living totally for the game.

He finished up by saying that players have to be OBSESSED .

    Now, there’s a word.

You can be sure that tub of lard Jabba, will have his fat bolbous coupon all over the presser, teying to justify his fleecing of the hun hordes.

” going through brick walls “.

Wait for the first interview with a bug eyed Martin Skrtel vowing revenge for his ” shoddy treatment ” by you know who at Liverpool .

Sorry – had to dash from work last night and only caught your response this morning.

Re the huns pulling out of Glasgow Cup game against us in ’68 when we were hammering everybody.

I’d never heard your info about Celtic fans of the day telling them FTP now meant “Feart To Play” – it’s a belter!

Stevie G – seriously, it’s a massive mistake for both parties (if it comes to pass) but will sell season tickets in dire & desperate times.

You have to wonder what sort of job SG’s due diligence boys are doing…….

First day of the Giro and Froome has crashed already during his time trial around Jerusalem. Oops. Two days planned in Israel they say, then three days on Sicily.

I’m onboard with chat about our target for the season to be treble treble. I like its simple elegance. Celtic are set to write a new page of Scottish football history so we should develop different language from the humdrum double treble and the even more mundane back to back trebles that we read everywhere. All going well, next season’s target will be triple treble as Brendan Rodgers works towards his personal 9IAR.

Treble treble in 2018 and if counter-intuitive arithmetic brain cells start leaching from lurking huns’ ears, all the better.

They’re not bringing in Gerrard for his managerial abilities. He doesn’t have any and no matter who they get they will get nowhere near us.

Their own brand is crap so they are trying to piggy-back off ours and Liverpool’s.

Watch the MSM ramp up a Rodgers-Gerrard battle, old firm rivalry, blah blah.

Yes, that’s the same Brendan Rodgers they have been packing off to Arsenal for the last two weeks!

3 o’clock? Should be just about enough time to digest Jabba’s scripted questions and answers….

  7. !!Bada Bing!! on

Their fixtures will be front loaded like this season, play all top 6 teams at home in first round of games to get points on the board

  8. Bada Bing

They will play us a Parkhead in first derby game next season

    Probably after midweek CL game.

  9. Colleague of mine met SH at Southwaite services northbound today. He seemed to be very relaxed, did the whole selfie thing. According to my colleague he looked perplexed at the reaction he was getting from the travelling Orcs.

They are all in full on “ stauner” mode.

No way is he coming to them without a shitload of cash to back him. Should be fun.

Over the years how many top players have made top managers ? I would suggest many more of them have failed than have succeeded.Gerrard not only has to build the Rangers team but has to beat his old mentor Brendan Rodgers no easy task. I believe we will see a few Liverpool fringe and youth team players turning up at Ibrox along with two or three vetrans from English football Gerrards name will attract better players than they have signed over the past few seasons. However, his lack of managerial experience may well prove to be his downfall .H.H.

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on

Jabba will have his crayons out, telling the Laptop Loyal what questions to ask, and Gerrard will be primed to say hundred odd years history bollocks…

  15. A CON AND BEYOND

Firstly, very disappointed in that thick Scouse pub-brawling ned betraying his family roots and being drawn into the heart of darkness. Unwittingly? No. But easily persuaded? Yes – with the incentive of squaring up to BR; always felt some sort of unspoken simmering resentment built between the two in the aftermath of the Gerrard slip/title collapse.

Secondly – Got to hand it to Dave King; a conman extraordinaire, brash and bold enough to get the glitter in that will subdue the seething Orc masses and deliver a healthy season-ticket wedge. This appointment was about the only thing that could save his skin and prevent the cash-cow toppling into the grave.

He’ll flit in January with a suitcase full of the gullibillies life-savings as the house of cards topples – by his (and my) estimation, given court holidays, the tepid progress of bureaucracy an the reluctance of anyone in officialdom up her to go after the Hun Chief, he should be able to stymie any serious action until early 2019.

Thirdly – and this is the ‘beyond’ part – did King hook Gerraard beyond mere coaching duties? Is Stevie Gormless about to commit a large chunk of his own fortune in exchange for a place on the board/a biiiiiig magic bean; become ‘an owner’?

Is this part of the ‘investment’? Truly a world-class scam by Google if it transpires.

As for present circumstances, Stevie Gormless is here for ten-in-a-row.

Which for us means one reassuring thing – BR is going NOWHERE until he’s slapped the sneering scouse turncoat around a bit. Hope he enjoys the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ when we’re 5 up.

  16. weebobbycollins on

I have always hated Gerrard, ever since the day I was born…and I’m 70 now. My mum told me my first words were, “I hate steven gerrard…..and hugh keevins.”

  17. as i said a couple of weeks ago, no smoke without fire and he will be given funds.

he is not that stupid to go with the same players. he will need a few bob.

    this will be interesting.

hate to say this but the papers know more than we do. imo

  18. Bada Bing

It is usually the only sequence we can rely on.

My mate kept saying if on return to top flight they

swap fixtures it was sure sign that it was a new club

(not that we didnt know that anyway)

Think he was upset when The Magic Hat

and his harlem globetrotters were away in first fixture to us.

But agree fixtures will be manipulated by computer

(Stevie Gerard bug ) to give him an easy entrance.

How about ST Midden first game

  19. mike in toronto on

    TH …

I tend to agree … I cant see him coming unless he has some money to spend …. however, the only thing that makes me pause is that, if they had any sort of legitimate funding, they would be trumpeting it from the roof tops ….

Will The Lying King be asked about appointing, Warbiola, Pedro, Numpty?

I’ll hold my hands up to that, mate. I thought his ego would be overruled by his advisors.

Shades of a previous managerial appointment of a man with no allegiance to the club

Warburton arrived with Weir, who might well have convinced him that the job was a once in a lifetime opportunity

Gerrard has McAllaister. A man not noted for considering others, nor the big picture. Known as Mabaw Mac for a reason in every side he played for.

I’ll say no more on the subject

  23. !!Bada Bing!! on

I wonder if McAllister will be introduced as the next Caretaker Manager?

  24. Paul67

    Agree,

I think its well past Paddy time, and we have one important game where we might need him

to play before we start talks with MC about keeping him at Celtic beyond his two and half seasons.

James Forrest has been wisely selected by BR and it paid off en route to invincibility and now the

brink of immortality, but Roberts has so much to give?

Scott Brown should be moth balled for the final but you forgot to mention Mikael Lustig whose name is Shirley on the team sheet for Hampden?
